Hi Jerry It sounds like that's the case. In all my years of using SF I've never seen that happen before. *insert spooky music here* At 02:47 AM 6/8/2006, you wrote: > Chris! Chris! The Sound Forge demo did apparently make itself the default player for Wave and MP3 files. Sony has confirmed that this is possible. Re: sound forge 8.0 help needed
Hi, What you need to do is go into SoundForge 8, Go to the Options menu on the menu bar, go up the Options menu to Preferences. Go into the Preferences menu and shift tab to the general tab. Now right arrow to the File Types tab, and tab to the button that says select none. Press that button and then tab to apply and press spacebar on apply, and then tab to OK and press enter there to accept the choice. Now exit from SoundForge and you should be able to set Winamp as your default for file types. I would guess that most people would prefer not to have SoundForge as the software that comes up as their default file player. Its' a great sound editor, but overkill for a audio file player. - Original Message - From: "John Holliday" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: sound forge 8.0 help needed
I solved the problem by highlighting a file in my music folder, and going in to properties. On the general tab, there is a "change" button. After entering on that, you're presented with a list of applications to choose from. And yes, sound Forge was on the list! I chose winamp, and now my mp3 and wav files play in winamp, as they're supposed to. John H -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Re: sound forge 8.0 help needed
Hi John This still isn't making a lot of sense, since Sound Forge, either demo or full version is not a player. It is a sound editor, and sound editors do not make changes to your file types automatically. What you should probably do is set Winamp to play all the file types it can. go to the preferences and ten to the file types section, and press the all button, which will insure that Winamp will play all the file types it can recognize. If after doing all this, sound forge still comes up, then i would say you've got a pretty screwy system over there. it might be time to uninstall that sound forge demo. i am definitely shaking my head over this one. Re: sound forge 8.0 help needed
Hi to the list, Let me try and explain this a little better! Before I installed Sound Forge 8.0, any sound file I opened would be played by winamp 5, automatically.13. Since I installed the Sound Forge 8.0 demo, the files are opening in Sound Forge instead of winamp. So, yes, Sound Forge has taken over as my default player. I looked around in Winamp help last night, and did everything it said to insure that Winamp is the default player. The help file did say that some programs would try to assume control, which is exactly what is happening with Sound Forge! Re: sound forge 8.0 help needed
Hi What you are saying isn't making much sense here. Winamp will still play your mp3s. The sound forge demo does not take Winamp's ability away to play mp3 files. You just have to purchase the mp3 plugin for sound forge so that you can edit them. Winamp doesn't even fit into the equation here. So don't worry, the sound forge demo has *not* changed your default player. At 10:45 PM 6/6/2006, you wrote: >Hi, > it acts as my default player. Hi, it acts as my default player. Since one can only load 20 mp3 files with the demo, I want to change the default back to winamp! How do I accomplish this?
