Another burner is CDBurnerxp which is free.

http://cdburnerxp.se/help/

Will tell you all you need to know. I do believe you have to install .net
framework for it to work though if I remember rightly.

I think there's a podcast on BCT or somewhere about using it.

Re: Location of iTunes music files

2012-08-09 Thread Les Gordon www.cdrdvdr.com
hi, something easier, is you can create your own folder for your itunes
music, and put it where ever you choose.
then under itunes preferences, select the folder location, and you would be
set. thats what i did for mine and its great.

Hi Dean, Thank you for your reply. I beleave I have the same system set up
as you do, so hopefully, this should work.

However, in your instructions, I think a step was left out.

I pressed Windows R, which opened the Run command. Just pressing Enter
here, goes into my first program, which is Jaws.

I tried pressing M, but only got silence.

Would you tell me what I missed?

Many thanks! Vicky

There is an iTunes folder in my Music. On my windows 7 64 bit PC this is
a separate folder and not in the my documents folder.

Try this:

Hit winjdows key + r

hit . then hit enter

Hit m until you hear my music then enter.

then hit I until you hear iTunes.

Hi Brad, Thanks so much for responding so quickly! However, I'm still
having

a bit of trouble finding the MP3 files of my music.
When I went into iTunes, which happens to be version 10.5, and use
Control

Shift R, it responds, Select an option and gives 3 Rating options.
When I went to my DeskTop, I couldn't find the Media folder.
I believe most of my music is in the AAC format, which my Plextalk will
not
play. That is why I need to find the the automatically created MP3
files.

Go to my media, from thence, I think it's iTunes music.
Another approach would be to go into iTunes and have it show you the
explorer view. (ctrl-shift-r).
Or... You can go to a playlist in iTunes... Hit select all... Hit
copy... Go

to your flash drive in Windows explorer and hit paste.
Good luck! iTunes rules!

what i would do is try different dvd media, because even with the same batch
or brand of media there can be changes or bad discs. if you try different

the drive is starting to go bad. when drives start to go bad they can burn
slower then before.

All I can say is enjoy!

I've had my Denon AVR2113 as my entertainment hub in my lounge for just
under a year now, hardly a day goes by when I'm not amazed by something or
other that this unit does, everything from listening to Audio, interacting
with my Smart phone, Watching TV and listening to Internet radio is nothing
but pure pleasure through the Denon.

Try the Restore mode which enhances your Internet radio listening and see
what you think, I strongly believe that you haven't heard Internet radio
until you've heard it through a receiver such as this or something similar
from Yamaha etc, the DSP processing makes a huge difference even if you're
listening with 2 speakers or in Pure Direct mode, in this mode all the
circuitry for video etc is bypassed and you get a direct audio path from
your source to your speakers.

Anyway no point me rambling on because I could ramble on about the Denon
AVR2113 for a week at the very least smile, you have a few models above
mine and I'm filled with envy! smile.

The manufacture quality of this unit is first class for a start.

The transformer is placed in the centre of the unit to avoid any possible
problems caused by micro phonics .

9 discrete amplifiers can be programmed into many different modes of

The easyest choice would be to use one of those VCR DVD recorder things.
Here's the catch though. You'd have to buy one. I know HSN, and QVC have
them some times, but where else can one get one? Your other choice of
using a computer all the way is actually a bit harder. It's all real time
so you would have to weight on it to later eddit the file/files. Oh yeah,
this would also require you to buy a capture card to put into the computer
of choice to do this with.

The system described here is both the most complete and flexible Media
Center I've used.

I'll be writing a review on the system shortly as I have some exploring to
do to get access to some of the features so here's a summary of what I've
found thus far.

The system is a stereo unit which looks much like a Boombox but thinner.

Sound is very good with the unit offering Digital Amplifiers at 20 Watts RMS
for each channel.

Connectivity options would seem endless when you look at what's available on
the system.

• Bluetooth Connectivity
• AirPlay and DLNA compatible
• USB port which will handle files in most audio formats including FLAC,
AAC, MP3 etc.

• Line-In jack
•Internet radio
• FM Tuner
• Music Server
• Compatible with Pioneer Remote Controller Apps for IOS and Android
•Able to handle music services such as Spotify and Pandora
•Built-in iPhone dock

I updated it yesterday, I'll have a look and see what the C5 offers over the
C3 and C4.

The interesting thing about this model is that Pioneer Australia don't
seem to support it, I bought the model through eBay and its certainly
available in the United States.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's a model above this one that
might even have a CD Player or other features given that the cabinet of
the unit has a couple of blank panels on the front and top.

The system described here is both the most complete and flexible Media
Center I've used.

I'll be writing a review on the system shortly as I have some exploring
to

do to get access to some of the features so here's a summary of what I've
found thus far.

The system is a stereo unit which looks much like a Boombox but thinner.

Sound is very good with the unit offering Digital Amplifiers at 20 Watts
RMS

for each channel.

Connectivity options would seem endless when you look at what's available
on

the system.

. Bluetooth Connectivity
. AirPlay and DLNA compatible
. USB port which will handle files in most audio formats including FLAC,
AAC, MP3 etc.
. Line-In jack
.Internet radio
. FM Tuner
. Music Server
. Compatible with Pioneer Remote Controller Apps for IOS and Android
.Able
to handle music services such as Spotify and Pandora .Built-in iPhone
dock

Its unfortunate that Pioneer Didn't include DAB+ but perhaps its easier

Okay, looks like I'm out of luck trying to get a XW-SMC5 in Australia but
the XW-SMC4 and XW-SMC3 still seem readily available in Australia at least.

As has been noted, the XW-SMC5K has a CD/DVD player built-in which is
multiple format playback. The XW-SMC4 and XW-SMC3K seem identical except
that the SM$K comes with the Bluetooth adapter whereas with the SMC3K its
available as an optional extra.

Subject: DLNA Devices

Hi!

I've always been fascinated with Media Servers and devices since I bought my
Fritz! Box over 2 and a half years ago.

DLNA is the protocol devices, Media Servers, Computers and Apps use to
communicate with each other.

For example, its now common place for a Smart TV to have DLNA compatibility
on board which allows the browsing and playing of content on a remote Media
Server, this is typically a hard drive or NAS storage unit connected to a
Home Network.

Many devices available are not accessible to these media servers given their
menu systems and no built in speech capabilities so Dead End I hear you
cry? Well not quite.

I have quite a few devices which have DLNA compatibility built into them and
I'm able to utilise the DLNA functions of each through DLNA management Apps
on my IOS device.

When the App is launched on say an iPhone it comes up with a list of DLNA
compatible servers attached to your network, these may include hard drives,
computers etc.

From here you select the type of content you wish to see, you can Browse

Folders for particular content or select a category such as Music.

What then is displayed depends very much on the category selected, if you
select Music then you'll see various sub categories such as Artist, Album,
Playlist etc.

If you select Playlist then a list of playlists will appear and yo u can
select the appropriate list from here etc.

At this point you can select an output device to play the content to, again
these are DLAN compatible devices which could include your Windows PC, your
Smart TV, a wireless speaker system, a network media player and so on.

Thought some list members may wish to follow this up.

I'm an iPhone 5 user. I use Siri and Voice Over for most of what I do
with

a phone--send text messages, make calls. I upgraded to 8 because of an
article much like the one in this message which I have just read most if
not

all of. I'm now using 8.0.2. I have had enough problems with VO and Siri
that I re-installed 8.0.2. Some slight improvement after that but not
much.

The problem I have in particular is the inability to place a call or send
a
text message reliably. To me, that, and not the bells and whistles, is
why
I got the phone. Whether my experience is typical I cannot say. Nor can
I

say whether it's because of my 16-G iPhone 5. But, unless you really need
the bells and whistles, I'd be somewhat cautious about the upgrade. Hype
is

nice, but I've already seen the Jetsons world and I can't use a device
because of hype.

Hi Gary and all,

I upgraded to the 7.1, and I've had a lot of problems with Siri.
It's very frustrating. I would like to eventually get the KNFB
reader app, but I'm wondering how everything will work together.
That's been my

experience.

I'm an iPhone 5 user. I use Siri and Voice Over for most of what I
do with a phone--send text messages, make calls. I upgraded to 8
because of an article much like the one in this message which I have
just read most if not all of. I'm now using 8.0.2. I have had
enough problems with VO and Siri that I re-installed 8.0.2. Some
slight improvement after that but not much.

The problem I have in particular is the inability to place a call or
send a text message reliably. To me, that, and not the bells and
whistles, is why I got the phone. Whether my experience is typical
I cannot say. Nor can I say whether it's because of my 16-G iPhone 5.
But, unless you really need the bells and whistles, I'd be somewhat
cautious about the upgrade. Hype is nice, but I've already seen the
Jetsons world and I can't use a device because of hype.

The drives you mean or the software?

The drives - including that shipped by Apple which is not recommended - are

Ah right, I answered that in another eMail, its not a worrying factor as I'm

Hi!

I’ve changed the subject line smile.

Voiceover works very well for me and - for the most part - always has done
over the last 8 years but there’s no doubt that Voiceover itself - like
everything else - has gone ahead in leaps and bounds.

There are some truly remarkable Apps out there for those who like audio
including the best value for money audio editing software that money can buy
for a computer of any platform, I speak of Amadeus Pro of course.
I think the purchase price has gone up a little since I purchased it around
6 years ago but its still good value for money given that you can do multi
track editing and so on.

The there’s that other tool I wouldn’t be without, Audio Hijack Pro which
does exactly as its name suggests, hijacks the audio from any source and
allows you to manipulate it, capture it, record it, send it somewhere else
etc.

I’ve only scratched the surface of course.

That’s the way, do your research and see what you come up with.

As far as the Mac is concerned - and other platforms as well - there are a
lot of myths about the place and - as good as the Internet is at providing
information - the Internet is also very good at providing misinformation, I
saw a review of Voiceover not long ago and it only took me a few lines of
reading to fully understand that the author unfortunately had absolutely no
idea of what he was talking about, yes he had been using computers for 20
years but had not! read any documentation on Voiceover or the Mac let alone
done any homework on the subject or asked any questions so has far as he was
concerned? The Mac and Voiceover was supposed to be exactly the same as his
Windows Machine using JAWS, that’s like comparing bicycles the cars, whilst
they both get you from point A to point B they do it in slightly different
ways.

Anyway that’s another story for another day smile.

I’m not going to address your question fully, I hope you understand that
this is a topic outside this list so I’ll answer by saying that yes the
environment for browsing is a little different to when compared to a Windows
PC.

There’s no need for a “Forms mode”, that’s the first thing you’ll notice so
as you browse the page what you see is exactly what you have, edit boxes,
the works.

Navigation can be done in a variety of ways including a Trackpad which -
when wanting to browse a Web page quickly - makes all the difference,
naturally what you can do on the Trackpad you can do on the keyboard but I
find the Trackpad faster, just like using the touch screen of an iPhone.

Ah right, I answered that in another eMail, its not a worrying factor as
I'm quite sure I'll find something, just a matter of finding the right
people to ask, the people who know what they're talking about.

In the meantime? Well for my situation particularly, I needed to purchase
an external drive anyway so what I'm doing and have done hasn't been a
waste of time in any way.

The drives - including that shipped by Apple which is not recommended -
are standard USB drives.

No problem smile, in a lot of ways I preferring browsing on the Mac, I see
how the page is laid out at a glance, can read tables exactly how they were
formatted and so on, if you have any further questions or comments then
perhaps we can discuss this off list.

I’m not going to address your question fully, I hope you understand that
this is a topic outside this list so I’ll answer by saying that yes the
environment for browsing is a little different to when compared to a
Windows PC.

There’s no need for a “Forms mode”, that’s the first thing you’ll notice
so as you browse the page what you see is exactly what you have, edit
boxes, the works.

Navigation can be done in a variety of ways including a Trackpad which -
when wanting to browse a Web page quickly - makes all the difference,
naturally what you can do on the Trackpad you can do on the keyboard but I
find the Trackpad faster, just like using the touch screen of an iPhone.

Hi!

I’ve changed the subject line smile.

Voiceover works very well for me and - for the most part - always has
done over the last 8 years but there’s no doubt that Voiceover itself -
like everything else - has gone ahead in leaps and bounds.

There are some truly remarkable Apps out there for those who like audio
including the best value for money audio editing software that money can
buy for a computer of any platform, I speak of Amadeus Pro of course.
I think the purchase price has gone up a little since I purchased it
around 6 years ago but its still good value for money given that you can
do multi track editing and so on.

The there’s that other tool I wouldn’t be without, Audio Hijack Pro which
does exactly as its name suggests, hijacks the audio from any source and
allows you to manipulate it, capture it, record it, send it somewhere
else etc.

I’ve only scratched the surface of course.

The firewire port is basically for transferring files if you have a
supported device, as well as if you have a monitor that uses that kind of
plug. Thunderbolt is Apple's way of either plugging in a monitor, which you
would need a special adapter if you have a VGA monitor and it can also be
used to transfer data if you have the proper drive for this.

Hi!

I’ve had my new Mac Mini for about a month now and thought I’d share some
observations with you.

The Mac Mini is fast turning into my main computer of choice because of its
speed and power, here’s an example which I think illustrates the point
rather well.

I’m testing a Mp3 player, I deleted all my Mp3 collection a few weeks back
so I needed to create or download some more, given I have a good FLAC
collection it made sense I guess to convert some of those, I started with
the Beatles Singles collection 4 CD set from 1962-1970 which contains more
than 40 tracks.

Conversion was over in around 30 seconds and I was using the highest
settings with the LAME MP3 encoder to get the best I could out of it, on my
Windows desktop and other machines such a conversion task would have taken
around 20 minutes or even longer.

I spoke to someone about this and he reckoned it would have only taken 5
seconds or so with his Mac Pro machine and so it ought to given that his
machine contains 8 quad core i7 processors smile, mine only contains one
but I think the major contributing factor here is the Fusion Drive that my
Mac Mini uses, put simply a fusion drive is a 1TB standard hard drive with a
128GB SSD drive incorporated into the design, when idle the operating system
decides what resides on the SSD and what doesn’t based on the most accessed
files, most run applications and so on.

Now I’m not writing this post as an advertisement for Mac Mini machines as I’m
sure similar can be accomplished with Windows PC’s, I’m writing this because
I’m amazed at just how far we’ve come, encoding and creating of MP3 files
used to take hours if not many minutes not all that long ago.
