PESO Two Dogs, 1987 pano
Hi Team, I thought I'd share a little pano that I recently discovered. The source images were probably shot on my SuperA about 1987 as discrete images but they were made to stitch. It's the Eden Wharf at Eden which is close to the boarder of the states of NSW and Victoria on the east coast of Aus. I hadn't really noticed what was in the shots until I made the pano, gave me a chuckle at least. http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~distudio/temp/EDEN3.jpg Enjoy Cheers, -- Rob Studdert (Digital Image Studio) Tel: +61-418-166-870 UTC +10 Hours Gmail, eBay, Skype, Twitter, Facebook, Picasa: distudio -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: laptops again...
Paul, I suspect you are talking about BlueTooth, not Blue-Ray (which is a media/storage solution). .. or you are from a different planet that already has blue-ray in the their ears. :-) I understand people who avoid certain brands because of the manufacturer's reputation (for whatever reason). I have some brands here and there that I am trying to avoid, - but not many. OTOH, the only Sony product besides media (tapes and floppies) that I've owned was Clie (Palm Pilot clone). IMHO, Sony is overpriced for their quality. People pay for the brand name that I personally do not value much. The innovative value of Sony is also much more limited (as opposed to the frequent perception). In my opinion, Sony was good with their Trinitron technology, and they they contributed to making small tape players (walkman) ubiquitous. (But even then, other companies' products were of a better quality, - e.g. Aiwa's tape players.) I cannot think of anything else significant. As for the evilness of Sony, - they bought Aiwa that had products that were superior to Sony's, and essentially killed it. (I've heard somebody saying that Aiwa was in stagnation before it was bought, but I don't know if that's true or not.) In any case, - I liked Aiwa: it had one of the best technology of making very great quality sound in a small volume: small speakers, headphones, etc, - all at a very moderate price. Aiwa x815 headphones ($40-45 at the time) purchased in ~1995 were comparable in quality to Sennheiser HD-280 Pro and Sony MDR-V6 ($80-100), Igor Mon Feb 8 10:19:38 CST 2010 paul stenquist wrote: On Feb 8, 2010, at 8:26 AM, Doug Franklin wrote: On 2010-02-08 1:03, John Francis wrote: I would *NEVER* buy computer products from Sony. Re: laptops again...
From a US perspective the price would be a little high. But that machine should be capable of just about anything. We've just bought an HP for home use, but which has more than enough power to run Photoshop. Our configuration is: o Core 2 Duo processors (you definitely win here) o 4GB RAM o 640GB (2x320GB) o CD/DVD optical drive Blu-Ray would be nice, but it adds a lot to the price. o 17.3 1600x900 screenYour extra pixels are good Not quite as good as yours, but we only paid $850 US. RE: laptops again...
Hi Tanja - I wouldn't go near a Sony Vaio, a friend of mine had one which was absolutely terrible to work with, and unreliable. I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro S300 for A$1300 with which I am very satisfied. I installed Elements on it and have used it for processing images quite happily. Vista Business, Intel Core2Duo P8400 chip @ 2.26GHz, 2GB RAM, 150GB Hitachi HDD. That may look under-spec'd by comparison with your latest option, but it works very well, and might be worth looking at something similar. If you want to, pop down and have a look... Paris Match fakes win prize
This is a good story which a lot of people might find interesting. Forgive me if it's old hat, but I hadn't heard of it before Saturday, when it was a topic of lengthy discussion in the French class I'm taking. In short, some journalism students entered a faked story into a contest run by Paris Match, and won. Then they revealed that their entry was a protest. http://tinyurl.com/yb5hk9a http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/culture/kateday/11168/genius-or-cheat-stud ents-dupe-judges-of-photojournalism-prize/ Quite interesting in the light of the disqualification of this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year winner.
