I typed in my name then took it out and signed in those two places...

It was helpful for Christine to send both a .doc and a pdf as I only

And some further questions:

I assume that the framing fee did not include return shipping.
What happens if (when...) a work does not sell? I'm happy to
donate mine to whatever is convenient but what to put for the
return shipping address?

As I don't do Paypal maybe someone (Mark...) would provide me with
a suitably worthy Paypal account address for monies to go to in the
unlikely event of a sale.

BTW; I think the contract is very badly designed. It doesn't
actually ask for my signature anywhere.

Stig,

Those are very interesting.
For me, - the second one woud benefit from some sort of "frame/mat".
I like the first one better.

As for fishing, - there was a nice joke.
A guy, after fishing for entire day without catching anything and hence
very frustrated, is packing up in a very angry mood:
"I would never go fishing if it weren't helping to relax."

Cheers,

I have both, but don't use either as much as i should.

I like my 77 ltd, and my 100 f2.8 is hit and miss for me. Not sure if
sending it in with my K10D to have them adjust to the 100 would help
or not. My images are not as sharp as others i have seen.

I do have the DA F 50 f2.8 macro which i really like. Not quite the FL

Was I ambiguous? I did not want a fish-eye but a rectilinear lens and
my choices were the ones listed above.

The DA seems to be the obvious but expensive choice; I'm currently
using a borrowed Sigma 10-20 but want to hear anyone else' experience
with it as well as the Tamron.

I don't think those focal lengths are 35mm-equivalent numbers. I
suspect they're double ~ such as the Pentax DA 12-24 is really like
a 35mm lens of 24-48mm focal length.

Nice wide angle-to-normal lens, but hardly a fish-eye...

First, the conversion factor for angle of view is 1.5. So the 12-24
has the same angle of view on an APS-C DSLR as an 18-36 would have on
a conventional 35 mm frame. However, the focal length is 12-24. That
doesn't change, regardless of the format. Furthermore, it's not a
fisheye on any format. It's a rectilinear lens. In other words, the
optics make the verticals as true as possible given the size of the
elements and the constraints of physical science.

You could also switch to the dark side and grab a Tokina 12-24 for

my € 0.02
70/77 or wait for the dfa 100/2.8 wr
my personal preference is 100 over 70/77 as I both like to be ready to
shoot macro and do portrait etc rather from a longer distance and/or
with tighter framing. when in doubt, I'd rather take an extra step
backwards than forwards as I find it more unobtrusive - vice versa you
could just shoot 70/77 with more in the frame and crop at home... IMHO
it comes down to macro vs low light with focal length 2nd in line for

Now a question of interest from the perspective of a photographer; was

did you have the concept of the shot planned?

Thanks for the comments everyone!

The area is close to where I do a lot of work so it's a nice walk and
generally good for photography. The stitch wasn't hard at all, I just
always allow plenty of overlap between adjacent frames, everything
else seems to sort its self (using AutoPano Pro). The horizontal
symmetry was partially choice my mostly dictated by the elements
outside the frame, I don't mind it in this case actually. It's good to
hear alternate opinions of course, thanks again.

Hi Tan,

If you don't have a specific requirement for macro, you aren't scared
of buying a slowish lens and you aren't fond of flare (this is not a
strong point of the 77mm and I have plenty of screwed images to prove
it) maybe consider the DA70/2.4?

Cheers,

fa 100mm f2.8 macro or da 77m f1.8 ltd

2010-04-12 Thread Tanya Love

fa 100mm f2.8 macro or fa 77m f1.8 ltd

trying to decide between the two as I can’t afford both – do I want a
faster, smaller limited lens or a slower, larger lens with macro?

I don’t have a macro lens that I am happy with, BUT I really am loving using
my fa 50mm f1.7 as a “leave on the body all the time” lens right now, and am
thinking that the  FA77mm would be awesome for this purpose with just a bit
more reach for portraits.

However, not sure if I would like the 0.7m minimum focus of the 77mm.

Decisions, decisions!  What are your thoughts guys and gals?

t.x.

PESO Not another one!

2010-04-12 Thread Rob Studdert
Hi Team,

Yet another K-x pano, this time shot during a visit to the Powerhouse
Museum with my little guy Thomas. What's particularly interesting
about this pano from a technical perspective is that it was shot with
the camera in Av mode, each exposure is different.

It consists of 4x1 landscape shots, again hand held using my trusty
old A24/2.8 f4 @ ISO2000, exposures from top to bottom 1/20th, 1/60th,
1/50th and 1/30th. The source images are all in camera jpgs, it just
goes to show how capable the pano assembly software is and that
there's nothing wrong with the K-x's metering.

Re: Ultra-wide zooms

2010-04-12 Thread eckinator
Asked myself the same question to be prepared for when I have money to
burn and the DA* 11-16 is still not there...
Result I found in reviews and forum discussions (Caveat: this is hands
off information):
1. Best build, sharpest, most neutral color rendition, however pricey as hell
2. Worst haptics, bit darker than 3. but better corner sharpness and
better wide open
3. Better haptics then 2., stpo down recommended to at least 5.6 for
sharpness, longest warranty (5 yrs over here)
Over here you can buy two to three shmegma or spamron lenses for one
paytax so I could buy 2. AND 3. and still have money left for other
stuff... =(

I think you damn near did - if you bring the camera up a little higher
or shoot from a bit farther away with a longer lens to compress the
glasses in the foreground some more so as to conceal the wood bits
between them, I'll like it even better. Any chance of playing with
light in that location at all?

You'll want to shoot taller flowers too so you need a dolly for your
helium bottle, some fishing line and a small weight to keep the
bag-ground in place...

And some further questions:

I assume that the framing fee did not include return shipping. What happens if
(when...) a work does not sell? I'm happy to donate mine to whatever is
convenient but what to put for the return shipping address?

As I don't do Paypal maybe someone (Mark...) would provide me with a suitably
worthy Paypal account address for monies to go to in the unlikely event of a
sale.

BTW; I think the contract is very badly designed. It doesn't actually ask for
my signature anywhere.
