That's some very clever out of the box thinking. I knew about the McLaren F-duct which was leading to DRS used today by all teams. Added together, they represent a 6 minute integrated exposure time. The latest versions of DSS also let you work with the histogram (in R, G, B), luminance, and saturation, along with the curves. I then applied a few Photoshop astrophotography-related actions and adjusted the color-balance, which seemed a bit green to my eye. Here is the result: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pixelsmithy/10299785464/ This is still not even doing everything right because I was working with no dark frames, bias frames, or flats which would make for an even better stacked image (especially where noise is concerned). Still I'm pretty pleased with the result, for my maiden DSS voyage. PESO: Growing Forest reloaded
Here is the original for reference: http://500px.com/photo/52192954 There are noticeable jpeg artifacts around the edges of the clouds caused by recompression after I upload the image. AFAIK all sites do this and it rarely causes problems. After some research and experimenting I found a way to get rid of those ugly artifacts: 1.) Switch to Lab color mode. 2.) Make a selection around the areas with fine detail which will cause problems after uploading. 3.) Select the a and b channels and apply blur. (I used Gaussian Blur, but others might work as well). The radius applied was a trial and error process and I re-uploaded the photo many times. Since 500px doesn't allow re-uploading, I used 1x. Here is the new version: http://1x.com/photo/371588/ I found that by blurring only the color components and not the lightness channel I can retain detail and it helps to keep the recompression process from messing up the image. P.S. I'm now testing 1x.com so if you find any annoying behavior like nag screens, popups, slow loading, etc. please let me know. -- Attila -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

All I was trying to say that this photograph was very reminiscent (at least for me) of the scenes from that movie. My apologies Boris, I didn't mean to reply to your reply but to the original post. Sorry for the misunderstanding. As for Blade Runner, you are right and it's one of my favorite movies:) -- Attila -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: PESO: Terry
Sir William, don't you have a more decent 135 mm lens, say a prime or exceptionally good optically 50-135/2.8? I can see just a bit of doubt in the eyes of Mr Terry here :-). Re: PESO: Growing Forest reloaded
Attila, I'm gettin' Photo not found message. On 11/17/2013 3:16 AM, Attila Boros wrote: Here is the original for reference: http://500px.com/photo/52192954 There are noticeable jpeg artifacts around the edges of the clouds caused by recompression after I upload the image.
Re: PESO - Umbrella for Two
I really like this photograph, Frank. It conveys a sense of quiet, relaxed, unstressed contemplation... It is probably because I'm having rather nervous stressed days as of late, and a thought of a sound of rain and view such as this makes me think of relaxation. Re: PESO - French Pressed
I start mine with a cup of tea, though... Can it be that the left part of the cup is blown out?
