I have put it next to a closeup of my yellow bird to compare front

as a band, but as it

is grasping the branch I can't see how it is possible...

What do you see? This all started because Jack mentioned being

For my K-5, Shutter Count is listed under the 'Maker' section in

Re: Shopping for 64GB SD cards

2016-03-12 Thread Igor PDML-StR

Larry,

Silver-colored Samsung "pro" seemed to be consistently a reasonable deal
with a _high quality_ and _speed_ in the past year or so. I haven't looked
in the past 2 months. (I am more keen on this than on SanDisk lately.)

Here is the current version of it:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1181360-REG/samsung_mb_sg64e_am_sdxc_64gb_pro_memory.html

I have the U1 incarnation of it.

I haven't tried this myself, but it's been bookmarked for when I need to
buy a new one (if that happens soon):

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1164630-REG/pny_technologies_p_sdx64u395_ge_64gb_elite_sdxc_uhs_1_card.html
THe reviews seem to be very good, and the price is one of the most
competitive at the moment ($23 until the end of today).

Try ExifTool? Or ExifTool GUI. But it seems odd if the Shutter Count
website can't list it.

For my K-5, Shutter Count is listed under the 'Maker' section in
ExifTool GUI.

Well JAck old chum, now that you accidentally posted this to the list...
I'll throw it out to the gang..

Gang -
Jack says that what I'm pointing to with an arrow on the closeup of his
canary is a leg band...
I have put it next to a closeup of my yellow bird to compare front three
"toes" - I kinda see
why the "finger" I'm pointint to with the arrow in his could bee seen as
a band, but as it

is grasping the branch I can't see how it is possible...

What do you see? This all started because Jack mentioned being
disappointed that his bird had a leg band

and since I couldn't see one I was aiming to reassure...

https://annsan.smugmug.com/Other/Stuff-to-show-PDML-for-various/n-vWHWf/i-pM5brnQ/A

in addition to noting where my arrows are pointing, note the "middle
finger" - longer in both photos..

This is more fun than the work I should be doing :-)

Try ExifTool? Or ExifTool GUI. But it seems odd if the Shutter Count
website can't list it.

For my K-5, Shutter Count is listed under the 'Maker' section in
ExifTool GUI.

But yes, this is quite excellent little camera. And the lens is just

You wouldn't see it unless the lens was stopped down. Maybe not even
then if it gets too dark in the viewfinder.

Best way to find out is to take a picture while you have it on that film
body.

First thing I did was stick the 18-55 on both the LX and Z1-p. Both
 seemed to
show vignetting in the viewfinder below about 24mm. Allowing for
 viewfinder
discrepancy, I would expect vignetting on film to begin somewhere
 between 24 and
30mm - probably closer to the former.

Re: Some sort of macro adapter

It looks like it mounts to the PK bayonet so you can attach a 58mm
filter to that end.

You would still need a camera adapter to mount the lens.

Feature:

We use the reverse ring macro shot, because the lens is in turn shot (UV

the original camera lens mount on the outside end of filming), so the
lens is easy to get into the dust, water, and insecurity,
it also has been we do not like to use the reverse ring reason, and this

mounted on the lens can be re-installed a 58mm UV/MC UV/CPL ND Filter

Suitable for with all 58mm filter diameter Pentax lens.

To the best of my knowledge, using a drone in National Parks requires

permission.

As Jostein pointed out, despite regulations and common sense (which isn't
that common it appears) idiots hell bent on owning one will obtain one.

Photographers using new technology sensibly is all it requires, but
legislation is a catch all. I would imagine that your speaker's images have
enhanced the reputation of said National Park.

In the example I described, the idiot using a drone, chose to do so on a
narrow strip of land designated as a footpath on a windy day, between a
field of horses one side, and a reservoir with pylons alongside the other.
How he only lost it in the reservoir was a mystery.

Aside: The last meeting I attended was a competition. Within a few images it
was clear the judge had an eyesight issue, as he dismissed an excellent
capture of an otter eating as a model otter staged near a stream, and a
shapely girl in the background of another as a man! From there on in, the
evening wasn't about the images, but what he saw them as. Hardly the quality
of evening you're used to.

Malcolm

They're not all of that caliber.

The club has a quarterly print competition where you can submit two B
prints and two color prints. Usually some well known local photographer
is invited to be the judge.

It's fun to watch them go through the prints to see at what point the
"judge" finally realize they can't give every entry a '9' (out of 10
possible).

Since the prints are not randomized before displaying them to the
"judge", it's best to get to the meeting early when there's a print
competition, so yours can be in the first dozen or so shown.

I think increasing the size of the image circle keeps a lot of edge

First thing I did was stick the 18-55 on both the LX and Z1-p. Both seemed to
show vignetting in the viewfinder below about 24mm. Allowing for viewfinder
discrepancy, I would expect vignetting on film to begin somewhere between 24 and
30mm - probably closer to the former.

To get an accurate idea, you would need to either adapt a lens to
something like a Sony A7, ot put some film in your Z1p (I presume it
allows aperture control from the body) and shoot some pictures. The size
of the image circle changes as the lens is stopped down, so a lens that
is no good wide open may be OK stopped down a bit (or a lot).

No photos, but I just tried the DA 35mm macro on an LX, and there is
some visible vignetting, but no complete black corners.

Of course the hood should NOT be fully extended, if you do
that the corners DO get blackened out.

I also noticed again how nice and smooth the focussing with the K 1.2 50mm
that was on there to start with really is :)

A win in the face of adversity and perceived wisdom. You get the Golden Mule of
PDML for 2016.

Wishing you big prints and many of them.

No fair, changing genders like that. You're only supposed to test one parameter
at a time. Sadly, I can't find a reading by Mrs Burton but I suspect it would
have been much more difficult to tell the difference.

To the best of my knowledge, using a drone in National Parks requires

permission.

He probably asked.

He did acknowledge the general FAA regulation that drones cannot be
operated beyond line of sight of the operator, but I couldn't determine
if that acknowledgement included a "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" or not.

My reservations regarding drones is entirely concerning irresponsible
operators. There have already been instances where careless operators
have injured bystanders on the ground. Luckily, no fatalities.

Without wanting to get political, you have a bigger worry with firearms
in your country. Worry about real problems.

But, I think it's only a matter of time before some idiot flies one
into the path of a commercial aircraft & causes a crash.

This is hysteria at it's finest. A goose getting sucked into an engine
will do more damage than a drone, even an S1000 series.

As Jostein pointed out, despite regulations and common sense (which isn't
that common it appears) idiots hell bent on owning one will obtain one.

This can be said of many things, both benign and dangerous.

I think that description is Continental Engrish.

Anyway, that goes onto the back of the lens, and then you can mount a UV
filter and /or a lens cap to protect the rear of the lens (the front of
the lens will be attached to the lens by a reverse adapter.

At least I think that's what it does. For 12 bucks you should buy one
just to see.

Description

3 in 1 Macro Lens Reverse Adapter PK to 58mm UV Filter for Pentax Camera

Feature:

We use the reverse ring macro shot, because the lens is in turn shot (UV
lens mounted on the camera terminated,
the original camera lens mount on the outside end of filming), so the
lens is easy to get into the dust, water, and insecurity,
it also has been we do not like to use the reverse ring reason, and this
is now the reverse ring protection interface
designed specifically for these issues is currently the only one
transfer environmentally mouth,
mounted on the lens can be re-installed a 58mm UV/MC UV/CPL ND Filter
and 58mm lens cap, play a protective role of the lens.

Suitable for with all 58mm filter diameter Pentax lens.

A lens cap with the centre removed and a glued on filter to protect the rear
element of the reversed lens from grit. Neat idea. Sounds like a good DIY too.

I need someone to give a convincing discount, preferably with one of the new
lenses. I've thought long and hard about part exchanging either the K-3 or
the K-3ii to help with the purchase and I'm not prepared to do it. I have a
set up that works for me, and it's like the film days again where I had an
LX and an MX in the camera bag and all was well. The K-1 body is a much
better price than I had hoped; it's the reassuring heavy and expensive
lenses that I need to go with them that poses the issue. I'd end up using
the camera in crop mode for some time to come with the current lenses in my
bag, which rather defeats the point of owning a 36MP camera.
