that is no longer  licensed.

Same here. Using Bridge, I know where the photos are.

Lightroom's "catalog" didn't want to use the storage organization scheme I'd 
already come up with, while Bridge was fine with doing it my way.


In a pinch, I can find the photo I want without actually having to start 
PHotoshop or Bridge. Irfanview has a plug-in for PEF & DNG files, as does 
FastStone Image Viewer.


I'm still using Photoshop CS6-Extended Edition, the last version that really did 
have a "perpetual license".

The reason it was an open box unit might have simply been that a couple of 
the bubble levels didn’t have fluid, I just registered it and sent a note 
to Induro about getting replacement parts.  They were very helpful when I

This morning I tried starting up lightroom from another account on my computer, 
and it worked.

I had to piff pretty much everything except the the lrcat file
including the SLCache and SLStore files in /Library/Application 
support/Adobe/Lightroom
start it up, enter my serial number, then enter the serial number of a previous 
version, the warning message is really obtuse about that

if you start facial recognition in anything, the next time adobe starts it will 
start in facial recognition mode and immediately crash.

At least I can access my existing files, time to start checking out darktable 
and dxo

I have been staying away from facial recognition so my LR 6 keeps 
working for the moment.
If/when it crashes I think I'll switch to Adobe Bridge as DAM (which is 
free) in combination with Affinity Photo.
I'm using Affinity Photo more and more for adjustments and retouching 
for which Lightroom is not suitable.

Facial recognition isn’t a big one. It can be handy for sorting out photos of 
people and/or tagging those photos so I can find the photos of people later.

I tried it last year, in large part because it was supposed to be able to 
handle lightroom catalogs.  I put a couple weeks into it and it was not ready 
for prime time.

They may have improved it, but it just didn’t seem to work all that well in

might want to have a closer look at ON1 Photo RAW. They've been bragging
a lot lately about their new functions in this area.
