It's the discontinuous aspect of what is effectively three overlayed photos that is causing the aliasing. Is this correct? Nope. Aliasing is possible whenever the (spatial) frequency of the image is higher than that of the sensor. The interesting thing is that with 24 megapixels in an APS-C sensor you probably won't need an anti-aliasing filter in all but the most extreme cases (the absolute highest quality glass (at its optimum aperture), tripod mounting, mirror lock-up, high shutter speed). The Nikon D800 is notorious for demanding only top-shelf lenses and the pixel density of a 24MP APS-C sensor is even higher. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Plus, if you bracket in digital, you always have the option of combining the frames in post production. I could almost see some justification for using a hand held meter if you are shooting JPEG, only have a 1GB card, and you camera doesn't have the ability to display histograms or delete test shots. I expressed this opinion a couple of years ago and Bill Rob explained how light meters are invaluable for determining lighting ratios (among multiple light sources) in studio photography. PDML Photo Annual - latest update

As it's a really new program we're the only donor group specifically dedicated to them, so our little project is appreciated however small the amount we raise. One of the people present was a medical resident from Rwanda who's getting training at Dana-Farber. I don't even want to think about getting cancer in Rwanda... or the steep road ahead for this young physician but my hat's off to him. It seemed to me a deliberate and rather weak attempt on the part of the writer and the BBC editors to stir up controversy. A) The photographic record has always been edited in one way or another. B) Digital photography will eventually result in more, not fewer, photographs being taken to record any given event. C) As storage capacity increases, the number of images saved digitally will equal or surpass the quantity that could be done on film. And finally... D) More does not equal better. Anyone who's ever had to sift through hundreds of slides in notebooks or hundreds of files on a hard disk can attest that a few good images are better than a sea of data. Personally, I think that B, C and D together represent the real problem: That someday we'll be so overwhelmed by the volume of data (images, in this case) that it becomes a nearly impossible task to separate the wheat from the chaff. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
