The KP is a thousand dollars and the K-1 is two grand. Given that a
camera in between tham would be around $1500 I'd guess it will be a
stripped-down full-frame rather than a up-spec APS-C.

So there will likely be ho higher-spec APS-C camera.

Is this correct?

Nope. Aliasing is possible whenever the (spatial) frequency of the
image is higher than that of the sensor. The interesting thing is that
with 24 megapixels in an APS-C sensor you probably won't need an
anti-aliasing filter in all but the most extreme cases (the absolute
highest quality glass (at its optimum aperture), tripod mounting,
mirror lock-up, high shutter speed). The Nikon D800 is notorious for
demanding only top-shelf lenses and the pixel density of a 24MP APS-C
sensor is even higher.

I could almost see some justification for using a hand held meter if you are

I expressed this opinion a couple of years ago and Bill Rob explained

PDML Photo Annual - latest update

dozen people were in attendance, almost all of whom had heard of the

only donor group specifically dedicated to them, so our little project
is appreciated however small the amount we raise.

One of the people present was a medical resident from Rwanda who's
getting training at Dana-Farber. I don't even want to think about
getting cancer in Rwanda... or the steep road ahead for this young
physician but my hat's off to him.

All in all it was a very encouraging (possibly even inspiring)

right thing to do: If there's ever an issue or problem with our
current charity beneficiary I can go two miles down the road and knock

Bullshit! Equipment don't make you a photographer.

Really? Try being a photographer with no equipment...

I think they are called painters.:-)

With *no* equipment? Try finger painters.

John, get the NoScript add-on for Firefox and don't let Google run
JavaScript. It'll work just the way you want.

Hope this hasn't been discussed already -- a little tardy in keeping up

I read about it a little earlier today but I don't think it's hit the
PDML yet.

It is said that a good photographer can find art or beauty in the most
mundane of objects.

There is a Pentax photographer who seems determined to prove that
point. He or she has posted an image to the PPG entitled Dog Shit,

Dog Shit. Lying in the grass.

Art? Humor? Anger? Or perhaps did he or she just have a shitty day?

Hre's my guess: He's lined up a group of friends to vote yes on it -
as a *test* to see if the Pentax Photo Gallery has gone to a
peer-vote-only approval system.

Re: Digital for Newscoverage - BBC Article

Tom Rittenhouse wrote:

If editor's still demand lots of shots to chose from, as most do, the whole
argument is moot. Besides those slide photographers throw out more slides
than they keep. Then there is the question of accessablity, do photos stored
in a box in my attic add anything to the record of history?

The whole article seems to be another luddite trying to justify her luddite
fears. It was also a vehicle to generate ten thosand uninformed answers
just
like this one.

Agreed. It seemed to me a deliberate and rather weak attempt on the part
of the writer and the BBC editors to stir up controversy.

A) The photographic record has always been edited in one way or another.

B) Digital photography will eventually result in more, not fewer, photographs
being taken to record any given event.

C) As storage capacity increases, the number of images saved digitally will
equal or surpass the quantity that could be done on film.

And finally...

D) More does not equal better. Anyone who's ever had to sift through hundreds
of slides in notebooks or hundreds of files on a hard disk can attest that
a few good images are better than a sea of data.

Personally, I think that B, C and D together represent the real problem:
That someday we'll be so overwhelmed by the volume of data (images, in this
case) that it becomes a nearly impossible task to separate the wheat from
the chaff.
