Awesome news Dave, That is one thing I missed since I have not gone to the rodeo in a few years - and that is the barrel racing. A former racer introduced me to it and she was thrilled with the photos I got from those races. I used my 77 for those. I could not do it that well had I stood by the fence - which I did for some shots. I must remember to attend one of those rodeos when I get back down to Florida. Pentax cameras are probably the hardest cameras to try to shoot with underwater. This is why I have a complete Nikonos system. I would have loved to have the chance to use my DSLR. With the Nikonos rangefinder it is with practice that one gets the focusing right and gets the picture. I am still learning and it is still frustrating. Re: Pentax 645 Question
Angel, I cannot answer your question about the use of NiMH, because I have yet to try them in my 645n. This is because the alkaline batteries last so long in them. I recall checking with a battery checker just about every time I use my camera after it has sat a while and to be honest I think I have only had to replace the batteries twice in the few years I have owned mine. I even share the batteries between the two bodies I have! You should be fine with NiMH batteries, but don't feel like you have to use them to save on batteries, the 645n is quite stingy in using them up. I am still on the original battery in my 67 too - to lazy to try to figure out how many rolls I may have shot in medium format... :-) Cesar Panama City, Florida in Baltimore, Maryland -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

Re: A PESO during an idle sunday afternoon.
Cotty, I would like to say that I planned it that way, and I agree that it does make the shot, but I cannot. Though I would hope to think that subconsciously I waited for everything to be right in the photo. I took a shot previously just because I did not know when he would move. Then I stood there and took another shot when I felt the the composition in the viewfinder was right - I also looked at the camera settings for the second shot to see if I wanted to override them. As an aside, I went out yesterday afternoon to walk to the grocery store. Because of the cold I did not know how much to trust electronics. I took a Leica M-3 and a Sekonic Studio Deluxe L-398 light meter with me. It felt good to shoot in that manner. I do have to wait to develop the film though - I am a patient person. Re: So, with only a few days left, who's GFMing
Being a TEAM member (I don't think I have been kicked off), I will be attending the Nature Photography Weekend. The question is where will I be based at that time? I am supposed to be working back in northwest Florida by the summer. We shall see which route I will be taking, Cesar Panama City, Florida in Baltimore, Maryland -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

Scott, If you ask nicely you may be able to use an 'obsolete' *ist D - I have two and may have another DSLR by that time :-) Cesar Panama City, Florida in Baltimore, Maryland Yes. I'll be there. Not sure if I should steal the K100 from Christie or bring the chemicals again. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
Re: OT: Occupations?
I am an electrical engineer by education (City College of New York) and profession. I just finished up supporting operational testing of radar systems in an electrical warfare environment in Florida. Currently I am working on the F-22 system and am looking to getting on another project here shortly. The new project should get me back to Florida by the summer. The funny thing is that most of the people that know me in Florida know me as a photographer, Cesar Panama City, Florida in Baltimore, Maryland I've been reading this list for nearly 8 months now, and I'm aware of some of your occupations... however some of you are a mystery to me. I'm not sure if that's on purpose or not... :) Anyway, just for a starting point, I'm a elementary special education teacher, presently substitute teaching as I'm just starting out back in my hometown after a year teaching in Kingston-Upon-Hull (it's never dull in Hull!), England , and then two years teaching in northern Alberta. Anyone care to share? -- Cheers, [EMAIL PROTECTED] MichaelHamilton.ca -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
TV 7's wedding...
Hi there! I must apologize for not only be silent on the list but not even being able to lurk :-( I am now situated in Baltimore, Maryland - DCPDML gatherings abound :-) I will be back in the warmer confines of Florida starting next week through the New Year though... Anyhow, I really should have posted this sooner... The weekend I arrived in the DC area, to begin this hopefully short phase of my career, coincided with Tom VanVeen and Ashlee's (#7) wedding in DC. Okay, so I did a bit of juggling to make this all happen but ssshhh, don't tell them... I arrived just in time to precede Tom's walk. I did not have a chance to pick camera gear and I even forgot my coat in the car! I think they were both shocked and happy to see me. I took the liberty to convert a few of my *ist D shots to bw - mainly due to the lighting in the place and my lack of using flash - and posted a few on the web. Take a look at: http://groups.msn.com/MyRugbyPictures/7tv.msnw to see them. It was a nice ceremony. My favorite part was seeing the couple grab instruments and joining in on the music. Tom asked if I was going to report it to the list. Let him know that I finally did - my apologies for being late. I am looking forward to spending more time with them this coming year. Hmmm, let me see if I can get him to show up at GFMtn for the NPW... NYCPDML beware, I do try to make frequent trips up that way. It has been too long since our last gathering. I may even break out the medium format gear for that gathering :-0 All those within reach of Baltimore, D.C, NYC, etc. please get with me. I will probably be up here until next summer. I would really enjoy getting together with any PDMLers I can. I brought all my digital, medium format, screwmount, and most k-mount Pentax gear up with me, along with all my photos and slides - I hope to catalog, or at least put these shots in albums while I am up here. The *ist D continues to take great shots (at my direction), Cesar Panama City, Florida in Baltimore, Maryland occasionally in NYC -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
