Re: Peso Blue flower

2014-04-15 Thread jdavisf8
Beautiful, Don!! Love them
Sharp, clean, brilliant, exposures. Prospective very well chosen and well done
DOF.
If you will allow one suggestion, I'd crop about 2/3 of an inch off the left
edge of Blue Flower to partially narrow the clump of leaf blades.
If I cover that area, it feels a bit more comfortable to me.

I now have an idea why Yahoo was so screwed up and aggravating. They were

Just took a look back and see it's been redesigned. This may not be the reason,

I just knew It couldn't have all been by accident.

Yesterday I had to drop off some paperwork to a business just down the
road. I took my camera along because there is an entrance to the
Richland Creek Greenway not far from the business. It pretty much was
uneventful until I got to the mini dam that is on the creek. I have at
times spotted a Blue Heron hanging out just below the dam and this time
it was on the opposite side of the creek. I sat down on the bridge that
overlooks the creek and created some photo captures of the Heron fishing.

Re: PESO -- Ed II

Nice action portrait. The hand seems to indicate he is commenting. Colorful
strip across the top might be cropped, being careful not to let the top edge
get uncomfortably close to his head. Might be a combination of cropping and
some cloning of a portion of the left half so as not to crowed his head.
Then, for balance, the bottom should be cropped by whatever feels comfortable.
Certainly worth the effort.

(on-list since the general answer could be helpful to others)

how to filter your email into different folders, or mailboxes, depends on your
provider and what you use to read your email; your specific provider may have
filters that can be applied at the server side, which is the only way to do it
for webmail and for most smartphone or tablet apps; to set up such filters
you'll need to find your provider's help files, or just take a stab at finding
the tools in the web interface

if you read email via a desktop app, server-side filters work well for IMAP,
but less so for POP; most desktop apps also have their own filtering tools, but
the instructions depend on the app

in most cases the word filter is used, so you can hunt for that in the
interface or use that word in a google search, e.g. comcast webmail filters

i don't see this as related; i get far more spam from hacked Yahoo accounts of
acquaintances than i do from spoofed Yahoo addresses; second, spammers spoofing
Yahoo addresses will just spoof other addresses from now on

The solution to all this mess is to overhaul the entire e-mail system
how it is designed, and to create a totally new paradigm of messaging.

i don't see email as broken; there are dozens of new paradigms of messaging and
they all get spam, and most of them are less open than email; spam is more
manageable than most of the other side effects of strategic greed

hat's my poor writing, then. He wasn't expressing an
 interest in the
camera, he was making fun of it. Not that I give a
 damn what anyone thinks
about the camera, but it's not the way for a
 salesperson to approach a
  customer.

People quite often ask about it. Just a couple of
weeks ago a doorman in a
bookshop asked about it, and we had quite a long and
 pleasant conversation.
It's one thing to express a genuine interest, quite
 another what this guy

As you relate the incident, it would
have elicited a grin from me and maybe even a sale.

Some people don't have the right temperament or social
skills to make a living as a salesperson. I'm probably one
of them, but even I know it's a bad idea to make fun of
something a customer is carrying ... at least not until the
 customer has left the premises.

PESO: Cattail Re-Do

Actually this isn't exactly a re-do, but another shot of the same lonesome
cattail. Taken the next day and with a different sky and light angle. Thin
sunlight filtering through the clouds and seen at the uppermost tip of the

Has sort of an aluminum foil look about it.

Appreciate any comments.

A few of my photos were selected for
a gallery show in Detroit. The event is called The Green
Show, and it's at a non-profit gallery and studio called
 555. It's at 5716 Michigan Avenue in the city. It opens
tomorrow, and I'll be there for a short time, but probably
won't stay long. The show will  hang through June 27,
but the gallery is open only on Saturday afternoons and by
 appointment.

These are the pics, although I did new renderings of the
 first two:
 http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7511974size=lg
 http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3526907size=lg
 http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6505068

The first two are definitely in the show, the third is a
 maybe.

I printed all three on that paper Mark recommended: Ilford
Gallerie Gold Fibre Silk. I used the ICC profile that Epson
supplies for the R2400. It provided a very close match of my
screen image. I mounted the prints under mats that are of
what I would call a light avocado color in mahogany frames.

BTW, I find the Ilford paper very similar in rendering to
Epson Ultra Premium Luster. However, it's thicker and a wee
bit glossier. It prints very nice. Thanks Mark!

Ken Rockwell is the only person to have photographed
 Jesus;
unfortunately he ran out of film and had to use a
 piece of cloth
  instead..

When Ken Rockwell brackets a shot, the three versions
 of the photo win
first place in three different categories.

Before Nikon or Canon releases a camera they go to Ken
 and they ask
him to test them, the best cameras get a Nikon sticker
 and the less
  good get a Canon sticker.

Once Ken tested a camera, he said I cant even put
 Canon on this
  one,thats how Pentax was born.

  Rockwellian policy isn't doublethink - Ken doesn't
 even need to think
  once.

Ken Rockwell doesn't use flash ever since the Nagasaki
 incident.

  Only Ken Rockwell can take pictures of Ken Rockwell;
 everyone else
would just get their film overexposed by the light of
 his genius.

Ken Rockwell wanted something to distract the lesser
 photographers,
  and lo, there were ducks..

Ken Rockwell is the only one who can take
 self-portraits of you.

Ken Rockwell's nudes were fully clothed at the time of
 exposure.

Ken Rockwell once designed a zoom lens. You know it as
 the Hubble
  Space Telescope..

When Ken unpacks his CF card, it already has
 masterpieces on it.

Ken Rockwell's portraits are so lifelike, they have to
 pay taxes.

On Ken Rockwell's desktop, the Trash Icon is really a
 link to National
  Geographic Magazine.

  Ken Rockwell spells point-and-shoot
 h-a-s-s-e-l-b-l-a-d.

When Ken Rockwell went digital, National Geographic
 nearly went out of
business because he was no longer phyically discarding
 photos.

For every 10 shots that Ken Rockwell takes, 11 are
 keepers.

Ken Rockwell's digital files consist of 0's, 1's AND
 2's.

Ken Rockwell never focuses, everything moves into his
 DoF.

Ken Rockwell's shots are so perfect, Adobe redesigned
 Photoshop for
him: all it consists of is a close button..

The term tripod was coined after his silhouette.

Ken Rockwell never produces awful work, only work too
 advanced for the
  viewer.

A certain braind of hig-end cameras was named after
 people noticed the
quality was a lot like a rockwell.

  Ken Rockwell isn't the Chuck Norris of photography;
 Chuck Norris is
the Ken Rockwell of martial arts..

Ken Rockwell never starts, he continues.
