On 19/4/13, Joseph McAllister, discombobulated, unleashed: That was very interesting. I have Boston WBZ TV on one screen, Tactical scanner audio and map of the area on the other. Never did that before - thanks for the links, guys! I was listening to the scanner about midnight here in the UK, just as they had the boat surrounded and the chopper 'had eyes' on his movement - and then the Ustream for the scanner must have reached overload as it dropped and I couldn't get back onto it! Obviously pleased that the situation is over - but by no means resolved. There now comes the obvious questions - but I suspect that America will now see another slight change in direction regarding security - one that may not be at all evident on the surface. The Enemy Within is obviously alive and well, and the state will pursue this enemy with silent vigour. I would expect that the security services will be doing a lot more in terms of preventative action. Expect to see more doors being knocked down as a never-ending search continues. So sad. -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__Broadcast, Corporate, || (O) |Web Video Producion --www.seeingeye.tv _ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

I sincerely meant that apology. I was trying to let the whole thing drop, but I guess some people kept responding. Let me be clear: I have a growing distrust of the US federal government. Right now a bill is passing through congress that would allow them to openly monitor all of our communications. The patriot act would have never have passed without 9/11 happening. Now they can arrest you, declare you a terrorist and never even have to give you a trial. Is indefinite detention american? Is having checkpoints along the highways american? Do they make us any safer? I'm really sorry that the bombings happened. I'm glad the people involved were killed or arrested. I fear that as more of these events happen, more of our rights and freedoms will be taken away in the name of security. My original comment was an attack at the government more than anything. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk in any way, but I guess that some people would find such commentary unamerican. I don't proclaim to have any answers at all, but I do have a great deal of questions. I find the recent actions by our government downright disturbing. I don't think I would be surprised in the least to learn about a domestic false flag. Heck, the CIA had a false flag operation in planning in the 60s. We fought two wars based upon their intelligence. Maybe Osama was behind 9/11, I don't know. They were convinced Saddam had weapons of mass destruction too. Or at least they wanted the world to believe that. I do know the CIA has tapes of bin Laden stating over the phone that he had nothing to do with the attacks. If he didn't, who did? I don't want to start a flame war. I want to love my country and trust that people are trying to do the right thing, but knowing that this e-mail will pass through some government equipment somewhere so they can record it is really not cool with me. If they can't look through my mail what gives them the right to read my e-mail? So look I'm not a jerk, and I think someone that would attack another list member and then offer them no chance to even apologize is rather spineless. I long ago accepted that people might not like what I have to say, but I don't just blacklist people because they said something I didn't agree with. Who knows. Maybe I am a jerk. Indeed. Hence regretting what I said in the first place. That's all I wanted to say anyways. Politics have no place on photography lists. An MIT campus policeman was shot and killed around 10:20 pm. A carjacking and a multi-agency 100 car chase to Watertown during which 1 suspect was killed, bombs were thrown out of the car at police. An entire neighborhood was surrounded and locked down. No one has confirmed that these two had anything to do with the Marathon Bombing, though it is suspicious that the FBI released several more, much better photos late tonight than were released at the 5:20pm news conference. Anyway, an MTA policeman was wounded and in critical condition during that chase. One suspect was wounded and taken to the hospital, He has died, and is now believed to be Suspect #1. A large part of Watertown is now being searched door to door in the belief that the remaining person may be Suspect #2 (white hat, long hair) after his image was captured at a 7-11 store camera in Cambridge around 7:00 pm tonight. Add on the chemical explosion in West, Texas, 3.5 miles from where my cousin Joe Akers and his family live, south of West, north of Waco. Fortunately, there are so many trees and foliage around his house that he says he didn't even hear or feel it. Bear in mind, a third of his living room, with wooden floors, is taken up by his drum kit, so he is either a bit deaf, or he was practicing at the time. It has been a busy and tragic week for this country, as I feel a part, in various ways, of each of them. I'll be keeping my eyes open the rest of the week for the third boot to fall. I'd want to stay home, as they announced earlier today If no comes to the door after we show out police ID, we will have to break in a door or window. All homes WILL be searched. (1953-1961) I was watching TV after my lunch at home when the news came over about this tragedy. And there I stayed for most of the afternoon until Defiance came on SyFy at 6PM PDT. I was shocked. My feelings have ranged between disgust at the act, prayers for those injured or otherwise involved, and more disgust at the stupidity of those who feed us the news. I knew enough to pay little attention to the blather and statistics, but instead do my photo-intelligence of the images they were running over and over. Media should have people in the studio watching these raw snippets for content and feeding the visual content in context to the talking heads. Todays talking heads were rarely fed, nor did they see, the video that they were talking over. This led to them stumbling over their words, disagreeing with what was before our eyes on the other side of the glass. It takes many hours in ANY unstable emergency situation for the actual statistics to unfold and be passed on to the news-hounds. And a day or more before announcements can be made that take heed of those involved. A week or more before the timeline of events is discerned. Peter, I have to humbly suggest a different opinion on this sad matter. The object of terror is not to frighten people. Well, it is indeed, but it is the immediate effect. There is much more sinister, more long lasting secondary effect. It is that of division of the society into several (usually two major) groups. Each act of terror furthers the divide and eventually the society starts chewing on itself from within, so to say. This is when things get really horrible. On 4/16/2013 9:30 AM, P. J. Each act of terror furthers the divide and eventually the society starts chewing on itself from within, so to say. This is when things get really horrible. Look at the political polarization in the USA right now and tell me they aren't on their way to horrible. Two explosions 15 seconds apart, placed near finish line is clearly intentional and designed to inflict maximum damage. You can check on runners from your state, town, etc. here: http://www.baa.org/individual.html No group has yet taken responsibility. Given that it is Tax Day, it could be domestic nutcase or it could be international terrorist. Latest is that it is clearly explosive device not manhole. two explosions, then a thrid was intentionally detonated and police are supposedly saying there were more found unexploded. Mark's face book page some hours ago said still trying to decide where to go to watch the marathon. which prompted my concern just on a personal level. And, of course, the Marathon and the events at Fenway are a draw for our photo buddies up there. Whoever the perps are - it does seem clear it was intentional - I was paying extra close attention as a close froend of mine lives not far from where the explosions took place - relieved to hear from here from her son in law that she is in Europe. Christine Nielsen, checking in... We were at our usual spot on Heartbreak Hill. My brother ran his 5th marathon today, and we were also watching for a cousin, and a couple of friends to come by. Long story short: my brother crossed the finish about one minute ahead of the blast. He was approx 500 feet away, in the chutes. Another friend of ours was with him. There were a nervous few minutes between the time I heard the first rumors of explosions -- texts were coming in, and my teenage son was also getting updates from the world beyond the Hill -- and the time I heard from my sister in law that Bill was ok. Still, it was tense until he managed to get home -- image the chaos in that vicinity, plus the post-marathon daze he must have been in. I think adrenaline carried him home. My cousin, and a couple of other friends, had just crested Heartbreak Hill when runners were told to stop. They were detained for a while until a headcount of runners had been taken. On my way home, eventually, heading south out of the city... at least 25-30 emergency vehicles heading into the city, lights flashing, passed on the other side of the highway. Finally home just 30 mins ago, turned on the tv news. That lasted about 3 minutes. I feel sick. -c On Mon, Apr 15, 2013 at 5:16 PM, Mark Roberts postmas...@robertstech.com wrote: Christine Aguila wrote: Anyone hear from Christine nielson? Christine/Chicago Nope. Re: Boston PDML'ers please check in
Not much more to report at the moment. Videos look horrible but it could have been much worse. I shudder to think what bigger bombs could have done. There were, of course, lots of police and medical personnel on hand at the finish line so that surely helped reduce fatalities. I expect it will be quite a while before any more substantial information gets out. After the explosions, of course, everyone cleared out of the area and most dropped whatever they were carrying. But now every dropped bag has to be treated as a potential bomb and it's going to take some time to determine what's what. -- Mark Roberts - Photography Multimedia www.robertstech.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Wow. that's really crazy. Sorry if I upset anyone. The initial reports didn't make it sound all that bad. I certainly regret some of what I said. Re: Boston PDML'ers please check in
Your apology was adequate. Anyone who has been here more than a few years has probably had regrets regarding a post written in haste. It's not a big deal. The terrorist act that took lives and injured many is a big deal. Paul On Apr 15, 2013, at 7:37 PM, Zos Xavius zosxav...@gmail.com wrote: I guess an apology wasn't enough. Meh.
