2005-01-09 Thread Cesar
Kenneth,
Glad you took the time to look and comment.
I have asked my father about the negatives. He threw them all out. I
am not sure why the batch I found still survive.
I am planning on getting a print of this made and presenting it to my
mother. I am sure that she has forgotten all about this shot.

Likewise, I found some shots my father took of the house where he was
born, and of a friend of his driving an oxen cart in Honduras. I hope
he likes them and puts them up on the wall of his room.

Yes, I understand about those producing 'art', but I still think that
much can be learned from the 'outtakes'.

I am definitely not an 'art' photographer,

In the case of recording family history, photographic elements (compositions, backgrounds etc) can be overlooked in the interest of recording the moment.
In the case of a photographer producing "art", those elements are major considerations in the overall process.

Hi Frank!
I know they are snapshots that you took, but there is no doubt that they
will be treasures. This is reminiscent of some of the comments that I
have read here recently... yes, I have been lurking of late.
The following commentary is not a reflection of your pictures - whew,
got that out of the way :-) I really enjoyed them. And I am sure your
family will too.

There were comments made recently about getting rid of photos that were
not perfect. You know the 'poor composition', out of focus, etc.

I found a few negatives that ended up in my possession - they were shots
taken by my father. He does not recall what cameras he had. This is a
link to a scan I made with my 'new to me' scanner -
http://groups.msn.com/myrugbypictures/misc.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=3
This a straight scan, no corrections. This is a photo I had never seen
before. By most standards this is not a good shot. This is one that
would be relegated to the trash bin by some. I am glad that it
survived. I am planning on getting a print of it done by my photo store
and show it to my folks.

By the way, it is my a photo of me with my mother.

We did have a fantastic Christmas, Paul. For some reason this year I
had the thought that we may not have too many more Christmases
together as a family. My oldest is 22, and in a few years, if she has
kids, she may not be able to make it "home" for Christmas.
I'm very lucky that my ex and I get along well, so I'm invited over
for special functions like Christmas, Easter and the like. Lots of
children of separated parents aren't so fortunate.
What I posted were just snapshots, but they'll be treasures as we all
grow old.
Thanks for your thoughts, Paul,

Yes, I saw my name on your post - even responded to it :-) I am working
my way to keeping up with the list - you guys make it difficult, very
difficult ;-P

I am glad you took a look at the photo from a long time ago.
As to what happened? Who knows? By the way, I don't think we have ever
seen one of you as a kid :-)

Funny though, during this past holiday season my parents have had quite
a few visitors. These are people I have not seen in over 15 years! To
a person they all commented that I have not changed since they last saw
me. Maybe I have a 'Portrait of Dorian Grey' (sic?) somewhere that I am
not aware of.
I even heard the same thing from one cousin I saw in NYC along with
another who has seen me on a more frequent basis.

If only I could market this,

Yeah, poor Claire. She wanted a skateboard s bad. Then, on
Christmas day there's like 10 inches of snow outside, so she couldn't
use it outdoors.

Normally, she wouldn't be allowed to use the board inside, but we made
an exception for Christmas day!

Thanks for commenting.

Here's the url for my entire Flickr gallery again:

I don't know.

Christmas Day Pix

All taken with the LX, Vivitar S1 24-48, Vivitar 3700 ttl flash.
These are the first photos I've gotten back using the Omni
Pocket-Bounce on the flash, and I quite like it. Softens things
considerably, and widens the flash for those wide-angle shots.

Anyway, just a bunch of fun snapshots:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/

As you can see, we all got totally spoiled by Santa, even my ex-wife,
who you'll not see here, as I was under strict orders not to take any
photos of her.

It was a great Christmas!
