ha ha! very clever Bob!

Umm, tom judging by those feet, you must be the oldest amongst us, or are
you REALLY Harrison Ford in disguise... Come on now, everyone else has
"come out", you'd better too, before someone else posts a pic of you!

John, I had no idea that that page existed! How cool to see everyone
together like that, although there are quite a few missing from there too.
A certain guy with very interesting looking feet is one of them, and I see
that Stan wasn't too keen to show his face either...

Great idea ;-) Just have to keep up the flash in my right hand and fire it

flash to sword babbling "noone shall pass" to anyone who wouldn't buy my

Re: Faces to names...

2003-12-04 Thread frank theriault
Fairy girl,

As the photographer in question, I'm thrilled that you liked the shot .
It rather makes my day, in fact.

Bar lighting is fun, but it's Dave Chang-Sang's mini-light table
illuminating Dave Brooks that makes the shot, no? And, what do you mean
about Chang-Sang's contribution? He makes the shot!

I've lately been re-discovering my 19mm that I've had for about a year and
1/2. My Viv S1 24-48 zoom has been in the shop (it's all better now...),
and I've pulled out the little-used 19mm for wide stuff. What a fun lens!
I was out a couple of weekends ago, using it for street work. Different
from anything else I've done, let me tell you. One's being blown up to
8x10, and I should get it tomorrow; if it turns out as I hope, I'll be
posting it.

cheers,
frank

Tell me more about the "mini-light table", I really like the effect...

Why not give him that one, and get a better one for yourself? Seems a good way
to keep upgrading cameras as they get better. Get a new one, and let the kids
destroy the old ones, and they will if they are allowed to use it unsupervised.

I tried SLR's for my girls - now 14 & 16. The cost of film/processing
was killing me. They were very willing to shoot all the film I would
give them. Most of it very exploratory. Since getting them digital
P&S's, they have had much more fun learning and exploring and I have
had much more fun not paying for lot's of silly shots. The bottom end
Optio (whatever that is now) would be more than adequate. One
daughter has a Canon A10 (1.3MP) and the other has an Optio 230 (2MP).
You can get a reasonable 5X7 out of either camera. They shoot to
their heart's content. You win all the way around.

hey, the phrase "I've been with Pentax since I was a spring chicken" begins
somewhere doesn't it. And naturally, I'm humbled in the presence of most of
you- not just seeing how much cumulative experience their seems to be, but
also the remote possibility that one of you actually might have been there

Thanks!

It was fun and very inspiring to be invited and to do the project. Before the 20th
each month we had to show the others last months photo, so we had a pressure and also
the joy to see how the projects evolved. The guy starting it had chosen 12 very
different photographers, so it was quite interesting to follow.

Two of the others have promised to continue for 12 years, to get 144 of their own...

Good luck with your own project!

Re: Faces to names...

2003-12-05 Thread Kristian-H. Schuessler
Hallo Katrin,

MfG
Kristian-H. Schüssler

2003-12-04 Thread Bruce Dayton

A word of warning on the Canon A series P&S digitals: Every one of them that
I have seen has serious aliasing problems.
Same for the Panasonic 3.2mp camera.
I haven't seen anything identified as being off an Optio, so I can't say
whether they are good or bad in this regard.

Of course Bruce! That should've been obvious to me, considering that THAT
is just what my boys were doing with my digicam when they took those shots
of me yesterday. They took photos of each other with each of their toys, in
front of flowers, pics of each others ears, and even their left over lunches
on their plates! I am looking into a digital camera for him right now...

Ken Waller Exhibition, Was: Faces to names...

2003-12-06 Thread Bill Sawyer
Ken used this shot on his flyer announcing the reception for his gallery
showing, and which took place this evening.

Ken printed all of his own images on an Epson, a 2200 I think he said, and
they were absolutely beautiful! The reception was well attended, and quite
a success, IMHO.

Congratulations, Ken, I hope you sold a boatload!!

That's an interesting, but a highly questionable statement.
And should it suffice to warrant an alarm for us to be careful?
Nah, I don't think so.

And what about the following statements?:

People are eating Germans!
Germans are eating Germans!
People are eating people!

Should any of these statement be considered a cause for alarm?

The primary relevant question for us on this list would be:
1. Do any of the above mentioned use Pentax?

And secondly.
2. Will the Pentax equipment make an integral part of the dish?

Thirdly.
3. What would be the use of eating Pentax stuff?

Quarto.
4. What would be YOUR preferred Pentax dish?

Etc. ad infinitum, in absurdum...
