Actually since I got it from Goodwill maybe I should spray it with a

got it because it had some adhesive on it. Whew! I was worried there for a

Mike,
School is a place to trade germs. Start the kids in pre-school and
you can get a year or two jump start on building immunities. You'll
be better in another 18 months. (Don' ask about chickenpox, measles,
etc.)

Mark,
Was all the food at the Adobe conference served buffet? That too is a
great way to exchange bugs.
Did I ever mention how 1,500 McDonald's store managers were poisoned
with salmonella at a Las Vegas convention banquet. That caused havoc
and kept some of them out of the restaurants for 12+ MONTHS until they
tested free of bacteria.

Hope you're better soon

Handwashing. It's all about handwashing. There are
astonishingly few things that are actually transmitted

At the University of Rochester years ago, about 2/3 of

called RSV during their first year. A very aggressive
hand hygiene program cut that to 10 percent. Similar
studies abound.

I would bet that your general pediatrician friend's

Re: Get your flu shots everyone

2007-10-10 Thread Tom C
I don't get flu shots because they hurt.

And because I believe in the maxim If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Hope you are feeling better, Mark.

I don't get flu shots because they make me sicker than
the flu, but then I managed to dodge the bullet on the
Chicago bug you caught. Was that Adobe conference a
world wide event? Maybe you came in contact with a
strain exotic enough to totally circumvent your North
American / UK immunities...

Try some chi... ummm - tofu soup!

Spent Saturday and Sunday pretty much
  non-functional. Well enough to
teach classes on Tuesday but I'd pretty much lost my
  voice by the end
of the day. On the mend now, but going through the
  exciting coughing
up mucous phase. (I'm sure you needed to know
  that.)

If you're worried about picking up bugs, make sure you remain (I know
 I'm assuming here) childless.

No kids, rarely ill.
I agree.
Kids are bad for you.
