Well I like em all but mine... I was hard pressed to find a shot taken
with a Pentax that

fell under the category that I really liked -

Rick's is pretty much my favorite (partly because I don't like the shots
I got of the same subject when in Philly - he did it better) but lots of
goodies..

I'm about to "Peso" one that I wish I had taken in time, as I like it
better and it fit the subject - those of you who are my friends on

facebook already saw it...

My faves list is too long, but my faves-of-the-faves would be Ann's

Bulent's Footsteps, and Wendy's This Way.

It's a really good gallery. I'm not going to pick any favourites in case ann
gets big-headed.

I don't normally like 'abstract' photography because a) it's never abstract and
b) it's normally just a case of 'can you tell what this extreme close-up is?',
for this gallery I'll make a rare exception.

The largest gallery for a while gets us off to a great start for 2015.

The most intriguing image for me is Dario's 'Those Eyes' - just brilliant -
but I also really like Jack's 'Graphic thought' and Henk's 'Tree Zombie -
look closely and you'll see it!.

Lots of other good stuff - well done all. Keep it going!!

As usual, you'll find the gallery here:

Re: January PUG now up!

2015-01-11 Thread Darren Addy
Loved Wendy's This Way and Rick Womer's Berlin Flats and Filip
Nicolaï's Reading Between the Lines. All are just SUPERB.

Ken Waller's Colorado's Sand Box is a superb image, but the figures
in the bottom take it out of the abstract realm, for me.

Honorable mentions to:
Christine Aguila's At the Car Wash even though I thought the image
was more intriguing until I read the giveaway title.
Ann Sanfedele's Framed, although I think I would have liked it
better if Ann had chosen her own framing, rather than including the
duct tape frame in the image. That took it out of the abstract realm
and into a recording of someone else's abstract composition, to me.
 Don Guthrie's Frozen. Neat idea.
Pat Temmerman North Beach the image out of the gallery that I would
be most likely to enjoy on my living room wall. Very peaceful.

Nice gallery, ALL!

My Personal favorite is Bong's Earth and Sky, even though the title
took a while to sink in. It is visually stunning, and quite minimal.
I like Frank's entry for the humor; he is always challenging us.
Then, of course, is the Open entry, with not one but three lovely
cormorants, the Official Birds of the PDML.

A diverse and wonderful gallery. Thanks again for all your work in

Definitely a good one. I especially like that there a number of fresh
faces represented.

I really like Daniele Bernardi's house and Pat Temmerman's watering
cans. Although, Pat if you're listening, I think you could have
cropped even tighter to remove the traces of background and reduce it
to just curves and surface textures.

Well, we're off to a flying start in 2012 with an excellent gallery.  As
usual there are many and varied interpretations of the theme but the
most minimalist must be by Joe Mc with Dag running a close second in the
so minimalist it's almost not there stakes.

 Most innovative interpretation - Frank.

Most eery interpretation - undoubtedly Dario.

 Most humorous interpretation - Christine.

Only one entry in the Open Gallery this month but it's very

Yes it is and, after looking at most of these for a couple of weeks,
these are the ones appeal most to me:

* Ken's 'Bad Mud' and Dan's 'Giant's Stepping Stones' - totally
different subjects but very similar in concept.

* Subash's 'The Fern Look' - an extremely unusual perspective.

* John's 'Mushrooms on the March' - wonderful colour with subtle shadows
- and an innovative title!

* Ted's 'Steel Creek Reflections' - beautiful colours and a 'painterly'
look.

* Paul's 'Autumn Memory' - very subtle tones. I suspect that most of us
would never have noticed the photo opportunity here.

* Ann's 'Written in Stone' - wonderfully abstract.

* Rob's 'Dipping of the Fronds' - one of those images where the more you
look, the more there is to see.

* Bong's 'Bert's Chin' - wonderfully complex patterns and colour.

Bong's Bert's Chin - ( funny that he commented on last call that he

I just love it...
also...
Subash's The Fern Look
Brian's Indecisive gave me a chuckle and is certainly right on
topic (looks like my handwriting :-( )

Robert Woener' s snowy Max Patch scene..
Stan's Pebble's - fascinating because of the randomness of them - and
beautiful light

John Sessom's Grandfather in the mountain

But that's just a quick little group that made me go h.

Meta-notes (nothing about the images):

In the section of links below the images, it's hard to know
just where to click. On most of the lines the only hot spot
is the word here, but on See here for Submission information
the word here isn't a link - only Submission information.
Consistency would be good. Some visual indication of just
what words are actually links would be even better.

Finally, The people who make the PUG a reality can be found here
is rather out-of-date - it contains links to Adelheid's email.

This was a very pleasant park with a lot of activity, and I tried to

glimpse of the variety there -- the skate boarders, the carousel, the
walkers and the lake.

Hey, gang! The January PUG is up. We have a small field this time, but
they're all very good. My own favorites are the offerings from Boris
and Thomas Wannenburg. Take a look here: http://pug.komkon.org/

February's theme is 'Tis the Season. Submit photos here:
 http://pdmlpug.org/?p=22

The themes list and some of the submission information at komkon has
been updated. Poke around. Please let me know, with the harshest words
possible, if I messed it up. Thanks, and Merry Chriskwanzukkah!

Thanks for posting Scot. Lovely little gallery. Annsan, Toralf, and
Francis do it for me. The standard is very high - well done everybody.

Have a good festive season.

Yes, thanks Scott.

A high quality gallery - I particularly liked Reinhard's 'Waiting - Going',
Ann's 'Before the Flood' and 'Estee' by Boris.

But I would have been happy if any had been mine (who didn't submit this time
because I didn't know how to interpret the theme).

Cheers

Brian

Thanks. though I personally prefer The Chess Game by Dan. It has this
slice of street life sense and it is very warm, very much unlike the
weather outside my window ;-). Yes, I know, I shouldn't be whining about
the weather, but still ;-).

Cheers!

Home from a grueling day of helping someone move - nice to come here and
get kudo's - thanks y'all for
liking my New Orleans shot. I stumbled on it looking for something else.

Brian - I wasn't sure what photo walking was either - but I did take my
shot walking around the town ;-)

Merry Christmas to all to whom it is appropriate to wish it !

ann the sleepy

Haven't looked at the PUG yet myself
