with DVI & HDMI i'd say that's a better choice; you are looking at the
low-end of flat panel displays, but that's still probably pretty good by the
standards of a few years ago; both of these displays have a stand that only
tilts, which i would find frustrating; the Acer also has faster refresh and
a cleaner design (thin bezel) so between the two i'd say it wins

but if you can afford it, i would suggest at least a 27" monitor — not one
of the really cheap 1920x1080 models, but 2560x1440 — because the extra
pixels make a big difference with photography

Wirecutter currently recommends Dell UltraSharp U2715H, which is $400 at
Newegg; i would guess it would have much better color than the models you
looked at, but there are probably some cheaper 27" models which aren't too
bad; you can see how they chose it here:

price really seems to be too good to be true, both available from Amazon

Everything else in that price range seems to be a significantly smaller

I have a Dell u2407 at work, and a u2410 at home. They are both
excellent wide-gamut monitors that were very reasonably priced.

I don't think any of their current 24in monitors are wide-gamut, though.

Re: Monitor Opinion.

2015-12-16 Thread Igor PDML-StR

P.J.,

Steve made a good point that the Dell monitor has only VGA (and HDMI)
connector.
http://www1.la.dell.com/vc/en/corp/peripherals/dell-se2416h-monitor/pd.aspx?refid=dell-se2416h-monitor=corp
While HDMI is digital, from experience, I am thinking that DVI is more
convenient. (HDMI had some limitations, if I remember correctly.)

In any case, - if you'd be considering a high-resoltion 27" monitor,
before buying it, make sure your video-card supports that resolution.
AFAIK, some 2560x1440 (especially the cheaper ones) do not support
lower resolution modes at all.
