I think some versious of ICE will work with prints, but none will work with materials that have actual silver images. My brain is getting a bit fried, I know why it won't work but can't explain it at the moment. On 4/3/2014 5:39 PM, Igor Roshchin wrote: Thanks a lot to all who responded! Re: OT - What photo-scanner? -- help needed.
When I looked at the various Epson 500, 550, 600 scanners earlier in response to this thread, I'm pretty sure one of the sites I found Amazon, B&H or Adorama showed similar repair technology for scanning old prints. It may not be "ICE", but there's some kind of auto-repair that works with print materials. On 4/3/2014 5:39 PM, Igor Roshchin wrote: Thanks a lot to all who responded! I agree. The Epson flatbeds are excellent. Paul via phone > On Apr 1, 2014, at 7:35 PM, Paul wrote: > > I'd have to vote for the V500 or its successor. I'd have to vote for the V500 or its successor. Although we have a couple Epson all in ones (a WF2530 and WF2540) which both do a decent job when all I need is a quick and dirty scan. For serious scanning I'll fire up the V500. -p On 4/1/2014 2:38 PM, P.J. I’ve had good results with my V600. But it does have a large footprint consistent with its large size flatbed. stan On Apr 1, 2014, at 3:51 PM, Ann Sanfedele wrote: > I love my Epson V500 (thank you Charles for that recommendation a couple of > years ago..) and it is probably inexpensive now. > > ann > > > On 4/1/2014 15:26, Igor Roshchin wrote: >> >> >> Hi All! >> >> I remember seeing some discussion about photoscanners on the list not >> too long ago, and so I thought some people wouldn't mind sharing their >> thoughts again. >> >> My brother is considering buying one and asked me for my advise. >>> From what I know, slide scanning is not important, it will be primarily >> printed photos that will be scanned. >> >> Any suggestions as to what features/characteristics to look for and what >> to avoid? >> Any particular models? >> >> One of the models that he is considering is "Epson Perfection V37". >> Any comments about it? >> >> Thank you! >> >> Igor >> >> > > -- > PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List > PDML@pdml.net > http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net > to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow > the directions. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: OT - What photo-scanner? -- help needed.
I've got the Epson Perfection V600 Photo at work and it is a HECK of a scanner. It comes with negative holders for 35mm film strips, 2" slides, and 120/220 film. Not much more than the V550. Probably the least expensive, that produces reasonable, (OK, you define reasonable but it seems so too me), output, is currently the Epson Perfection V550 which replaced the V500 at a slightly lower MSRP with slightly higher specifications.
