Some people like the was their cameras look with black (usually
gaffer's) tape covering the logos and marks. This is popular with
people shooting Leicas, who sometimes cover the red dot in front of
the camera with a square of tape. The istD has such a bright white
Pentax logo in front that I taped mine as soon as I got it. This is
how it looks:

Juan, - sorry 'bout my mistake.
The logo doesn't bother me, though - it's turning away from me while I
shooting :-)
I guess Leica users do this to minimize the risk of getting the camera
stolen.
I have also noticed, that the logo on cars, often gets smaller, as the price
goes up.
Very expesive cars don't even visible logo or name tag.
AS they say: He who lives quietly, lives well ;-)

Went out to farm country today. Done it before, took picture of barn one time
while there. Taken pictures of trees, hills, farmhouse, horses, etc. Today I
went a bit too late, too many shadows and the shadows got deeper by the time I
was done.

But I think, even with shadow, this one came out okay.

It's a simple image, one I've actually shot before. It would probably be
better with more light. Next time I will head out earlier.

It calms me to go to that area. Funny, the farmers drive by in their trucks
and smile at me when they see the camera (only about six to eight farms around
there). Only been challenged once a couple of years ago (when I was taking a
picture of a particular farm). Lady (obviously the owner of that particular
farm, or co-owner) stopped her truck by me, I showed her the camera, and said,
"It's beautiful here -- I just love the area." Never been challenged since. :-)

Interesting. Love it!

The lighting (both the colour and direction from which it comes) is
amazing. Like the tilt. Like the way she seems oblivious to the fact
she's being photographed (she seems to be concentrating very hard on

But dear me, why the heck must she be so pretentious as to tape over

We had a minor flame war about this several months ago, IIRC, but:

I think the whole "tape up your camera (particularly, but not always
Leica)" thing started a way back before they made black cameras, back
when all Leicas were silver. Guys like HCB (he may not have been the
first, but certainly was into this early on) wanted to look
inconspicuous, so they taped over the silver with black tape, so the
cameras wouldn't be so easily noticed as he moved in and out of
crowds, all the while taking photos.

In the process of taping over the silver portions of the camera, the
logo, naturally, was covered, too.

Even after Leica started making black cameras, some still preferred to
cover the logo, as the brightest thing of the front of the camera.
I've seen several photos of HCB with a black M3 with logo taped over.

I think that's how it got started.

I'm guessing that now people do it for all sorts of reasons, from a
desire to be stealthy, to a "no-logo" anti-corportate sentiment, to
simply being pretentious ("see me? I'm like HCB!").

Nah, I was just teasing Juan is all. A couple of months (or more?)

I didn't mean to blow your cover.

I have no idea what or who a Rolling Redknuckles might be, but it does
have a somewhat violent sound to it, no?

Panama Red isn't (AFAIK) a singer. When I was a teenager, a long long
time ago, in a galaxy far far away, Panama Red was a variety of
marijuana. Apparently, it was quite potent for it's day (although I'm
given to believe that pot generally nowadays is much more potent than
it was back then).

So, I thought that your alias had to do with rolling Panama Red, as in
rolling joints.
