RE: Tan and 2011...

LOL!

For the record Cushie Tushies is a brand of cloth nappy (diaper). So they
are worn ON a baby's tushie and are nice and cushie (soft). Their main
site is here: www.cushietushies.com.au

The idea of the cloth diaper seems to be making a comeback with the
concern for all things green.

Back in the 50s when I was a young child, diaper services delivered
fresh diapers to your home every week and took away the soiled ones to
be laundered. But that was back in the day when the local dairy
delivered fresh milk to your door in reusable glass bottles.

I have younger siblings, and if I remember correctly, my mom used a
company called Baby Diaper Service. The commercial laundry used
boiling hot water, so the diapers were really clean. They also used
plain soap rather than detergents so there was no irritating residue.

But along came the disposable diaper with the convenience of not having
to carry a soiled diaper home again or keep it until the service picked
up for the week.

You could just change the baby and drop the soiled diaper out the car
door onto the parking lot wherever you happened to be.

So now I am home, and have actually unpacked my suitcases for the first time
in six months.  I have promised my poor kids that I am not going to do any
actual shoots for the entire remaining duration of December and for the
first two weeks of January, when it will, of course all begin again...

The newest (commercial) stuff that I have around the place can be found

I have a whole stack of new stuff in the works, including some more kids

be released in May next year (it is for a bi-annual magazine so a lot of
mileage comes from that one cover!).  The magazine is LittleONE Baby
(www.littleonebaby.com.au) - there are a few shots on the slideshow/mini mag
that are mine but it is a print mag, so you need to see the actual
publication to see my work in full.  These are the guys that I have been
 shooting interiors for...

I have also presented a total of 6 workshops in 3 states in the past 2
months, with a similar schedule slated for 2011.

Oh, and I've finally gotten around to completing my AIPP membership and
having my portfolio approved (which thankfully, it was!), so can start
spruiking the logo and some letters after my name soon which will be great
 for my credibility etc.

So what are my goals for 2011?  Well, I have decided that it is about time
that I pull my finger out and win some competitions!  Aiming high for the
APPA awards, as well as some Botanic Garden awards, our Lord Mayor's
Brisbane comp, and a few others that I hope my ego holds up in!  I need some
Winner of the xyz Award under my belt to get Pentax and some others that I
am working on to take notice of me!

Pentax wise - gotta get my K-5 yet (have dragged the chain a bit on that one
on account of being so busy this month), as well as a couple of new lenses
now that I have my studio set up complete. Still deciding between wide angle
zooms, but definitely going to get my hands on some limited lenses this year
 I reckon.

I also have two ebooks not far from being released and my very special
Abandoned Babies project that is taking shape nicely too...

Oh, and I have my sights set on Pentaxian.com too, I reckon I need to make

I hope I didn't offend with my post, it was more of just one of those

that's surprising, but it still sounds very fulfilling and you've got a
great resumé even from just this year (looked for, but did not see your
bus ads in Vancouver)

Sometimes my students almost take me seriously as well. . .

Sounds like a great year. Your post made my day.

Rob, we need to catch up one of these days, I've been in Sydney thrice this
year and been too busy every time! Are you going to PMA next year? I'll
definitely be down for it, we should make time then! It is at the Sydney
Convention Centre next year, from 23-27 June.

RE: Tan and 2011...

2010-12-12 Thread Tanya Love
Phew! That's a relief, I don't want to EVER sound pompous or condescending,
I just love spruiking to people that you can do all of this WITH a Pentax in
hand. You should see the looks on the faces of other pros at trade shows
etc when they realise that I am still shooting Pentax. It is even an in
joke amongst some when they see me around the traps and say you aren't
STILL shooting Pentax are you, when are you ever going to upgrade?!. I
always say back to them, I just did upgrade, this is a new camera I have
here!. Lol!

Anyways, I have SUCH a ways to go to reach anywhere near the level that I'd
like to be at, (which is to be able to pay my bills) and it isn't likely to
happen whilst I have five little kids, but my eldest starts high school this
year, and things are becoming a little more free in that I am not so
bound and can travel more as the kids are getting older and can handle me
being away overnight etc.

I meant to post about the Vancouver bus thing! It turned out to be a bit of
a fizzer. They all went out but the artwork was totally different to the
original plan due to budget constraints so in the end about 6 brands all put
in together for a montage of sorts and the image that they ended up using of
mine was pretty small, so would have been hard to see unless you were
reaaally looking. But anyways, onwards and upwards!

As for you being an underachiever, Steve that is completely subjective
Steve and something that I doubt to be factual at all! :)
