Yes the F was the last Spotmatic model. It was the direct ancestor of the KM and K1000 cameras and many parts are interchangeable, at least in early K1000's. It will work fine with 1.5 volt batteries. For a newer camera, it almost makes sense to get something like a ZX-5n and semi-permanently mount an M42 adapter to it. No matrix metering... Mat Matrix metering is still possible with Takumar lenses with large enough base where you would need to put isolating tape in very specific locations. Andre

I've owned four Spotmatic Fs. Still have two. The battery has never been a problem for me. I took no greater pains with the lens cap than I do with any other camera. I think the drain on the battery is extremely low when the meter is on and static. Most T90 cameras are starting to show darkening of the LCD by now and there are no replacement parts. The T90 was the test platform for the shutter and many other subsystems used in the EOS cameras, and all were improved for that series. IMHO, you'd be hard put to go past a late model Spotmatic. I wouldn't suggest an ES or ESII as I think the electronics would be getting a tad dodgy by now. I had a later Fujica, a good enough camera but not up to the feel of a Pentax. I now have three SP's, and they all feel good!
