Jack,
Have you shown this before?  I think I remember it.
It's a wonderful photo with the chipmunk on one leg, flying around.
It captures the movement of these guys and the tree root is so dramatic.
We have similar, but shorter tailed chippies just outside my window here.
Cute, but also a nuisance with their digging.
(My wife killed 20+ on the patio earlier this year.
She's trying to get enough to make a coat.)

I think the dark overhang at the top detracts but I like the almost

Eh. Not my favorite. Background too bright, foreground too dark. If you dodge  
burn, it is going to look unnatural. I would see this one as an

offset the dark surface of the trail and sort of balanced with the pine. May

I looked up golden-mantle and from the few pics I see, agree they look 
virtually identical. One description; The Golden-mantle is a small 
chipmunk-like squirrel. Described color tones may vary some, but you may be 
right Ann.

I wish it were a bigger file so I could do a deeper crop. In this case,t

It might have just been turned down because you called it a chipmonk... 
I'm pretty sure it is a golden mantle
perhaps needed a tighter crop for a magazine or paper.
Movement blur is appropriate, I think.
