I think you've done a wonderful job of evoking a certain mood.  A
longing for things past, perhaps, or a desire to return home.
Something like that.  The desaturated colors work very well.

A few critiques:

#1 and #2 feel like they're missing something in the foreground.

BTW, the tracks (which we get a good look at in #4) look very narrow.
Is that a narrow gauge railway or does it just look that way from the
perspective and lens focal length?


I'd think it'd be standard gauge. Got CSX gondola cars sittin' on it. I 
don't think CSX has any narrow gauge equipment.

Very "Driver 8" (my very favorite REM song - and REM is my very
favourite rock group).  I love this gallery!

I don't often like selective saturation (or selective desaturation),
but it's very subtly and tastefully done;  it really works to enhance
the wonderful composition o these pieces.

You don't often post PESOs or GESOs, but when you do they're
invariably outstanding.  This set certainly lives up to the lofty
standard you've set.

wrong word and Doug is being ironic there ... the
photos have the sad , lonely, depressing tone that  I think he felt 
about those mall shots he took were that

I didn't because the place itself was initially so sterile.

But unused tracks, rusting freight cars and rails get to me big time...

is the weakest of the set.  The gate and chain don't seem to be strong
enough, geometrically, to be the focal point.

#4 is like, wow, man.  I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that
it's one of the best photos I've seen on the list.  Ever.  It does
need some fiber-based glossy paper, though.

Overall, I really like this set a lot.  Good stuff, Doug.
