 Hi All:

While I don’t have a holiday photo, I do send holiday wishes to all
on PDML!

I thought some might be interested in the link below—alleged new
photography
 trends for 2018!

Apparently, some are working on Artificial Intelligence that does all
the
editing for you! Hmmm . . . seems to me to take all the fun out of
the
 workflow.

Anyway, wishing everyone all the best. I plan to be a little more
active on
 PDML next year!

Big holiday cheers, Christine & Darrel

It was 78 degrees (F) here in Raleigh yesterday. Even with the heat off,
it got so hot in the house I had to turn the air conditioner back on.

Seventy degrees (F) is more the norm around here for this time of year.
Winter doesn't really begin to show up until mid-January.

Ham on toast! Makes me feel posh having home-made croissants with brie
(I'd have loved some good ham with them). And of course a generous slice
of breakfast pavlova because calories don't count today.

Croissants and brie! How very, very posh...

Ham on toast is one of life's little luxuries - almost as good as
Vegemite on toast :-)

We have a very good butcher not far away who cures his own ham - and
bloody good it is too!

This year it's worked out that most of the family stuff has been spread
out over a couple of weeks. So we've had a nice Christmas day so far
with lots to do but without being rushed.

Much the same here. Our youngest son is here today and we've been taking
it easy while sampling chocolates, listening to music and watching The
Second Best Marigold Hotel - almost as good as the original. We're
saving our appetites for tomorrow when our oldest son and his partner
will be here for lunch.

Cheers

An old photo shot with the 2nd digital camera I owned—a Kodak DX7590 in 2006.
The next digital camera I purchased was the K10D.

Rained all day yesterday, but sunny today—no snow though, which I don’t find a

It's very arbitrary and whether a post is followed with a "Mark!" has
absolutely no bearing on what gets included. Furthermore, often
multiple weeks will go by in which I don't get time to read the list -
I don't go back through those time periods looking for gems, they just
get ignored. Luck of the draw.

Last year, I think there are no quotations at all from the month of
June because I was on the road so much.

It's totally unscientific and nearly random, in other words.

Okay seriously, I have no idea if any of my "alerts" made the list. I don't

The compiling of the list pre-dates our shout-outs.

A year or two after the list's introduction someone pointed out a

anything formal about it.

It's Mark's list that he kindly shares with us for our entertainment and

Mark,

I am not sure what procedure you use for this selection process, but
I found that none of those that I "Mark!"ed, made it to the list,
and also that several quotes marked by other people made between your
wrap-up for the 2010 list and the end of the year 2010 did not make
it to the list either.

I am just curious if you do additional selection from the marked
quotations and in general, what the procedure is.

Thank you,

It's very arbitrary and whether a post is followed with a "Mark!" has
absolutely no bearing on what gets included. Furthermore, often
multiple weeks will go by in which I don't get time to read the list -
I don't go back through those time periods looking for gems, they just
get ignored. Luck of the draw.

Last year, I think there are no quotations at all from the month of
June because I was on the road so much.

It's totally unscientific and nearly random, in other words.

Every single "MARK!" I've yelled over the past year has made the list.

Read whatever you want into that.

:-)

Okay seriously, I have no idea if any of my "alerts" made the list. I don't
keep track.

The compiling of the list pre-dates our shout-outs. A year or two after the
list's introduction someone pointed out a particularly pithy line to Mark and
the practice evolved from there. But there isn't anything formal about it. It's
Mark's list that he kindly shares with us for our entertainment and enjoyment
(and sometimes our red-faced shame). The method matters not.

frank

First, yes, I'm still here.

I've been a bit busy, what with overthrowing the Egyptian government, hunting
down Gaddafi/Quadaffi/Que, Daffy? or whatever his name was, training SEAL Team
Six, adjusting the flight of that comet so it wouldn't burn up, teaching Tim
Tebow how to be enthusiastic, and fending off that pesky Dos Equis guy. Most
interesting man, my ass. Most irritating, maybe. No more advice, I told him.
That's it.

Anyway, for those of you who don't follow me on Google Plus, and those who do
and choose not to admit it, understandably, and those who need periodic
assurance that yes, someone out there takes weirder photos than you do, you're
in luck; I've been rolling out a series of eleven photos that define the year
for me, rather than the usual "Top Ten," or "Most Popular," or "Good" shots
from the year. They can be seen here:

http://tinyurl.com/83dqrcf

And here at the palatial PDML World Headquarters, the minions are snug in their
beds, Santa has survived another year of toy construction with all his fingers
and most of his sanity intact, and I wanted to sit down and wish you all a very
Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Miraculous Festivus or whatever you celebrate
this time of year.

And to remind you that even though I am not very active, I'm still around
watching, still lurking, still ready to pounce.

Kinda like that Dos Equis guy. Fucking stalker.

All my best,

Great content, timely delivery, and an accurate title. Pick two.

(The HTML "Title" tag claims this is the 2010 quotations list).

Seriously, though - thanks, Mark! And 2012 is off to a good start ...

Happy holidays to you all - and may 2012 be better and happier than all
our wildest dreams.

Just finished 2nd dinner - a friend showed up late and we would not let
him feel alone at the table... and my son is wondering if Santa will
leave something here - we're at my parents'. On the down side, could not
reach my daughter on the phone. Keep saying no news is good news, but
all the same I'd rather hear her saying she's well. Anyway, let's wait
Santa... maybe he's bringing something with my name on it.

Cheers!!!
