Hmmm...

That makes sense. I wonder why the S-Car Go was never imported here,
then. I'm assuming your pollution control laws are the same or
similar, as well.

It looks like that vehicle would be a terrific urban small delivery
van for the city core, where parking and street space can be at a
premium.

Few things piss me off more than seeing a largish cube van, taking up
a whole driving lane to park illegally (thus making me swerve into a
live traffic lane to avoid them), and when I look into the cargo area,
there are like 4 small boxes in the corner of the thing. What a waste
of resources!

Now I know I'm not going crazy. Or, if I am going crazy, the S-Cargo

Nissan did the S-Cargo. A little van from the early 90s with a hint
of 2CV in the styling:

I think they were produced in limited numbers and only ever sold in
Japan. I have seen one or two in the UK, which must have been
specially imported. The Figaro was a little retro-styled Nissan
from the same period which occasionally turns up in the UK too:

It was a Nissan S-Cargo, a small van based on Pulsar mechanicals. I don't
think they were ever sold new in Australia, but I have seen a few that have
been imported. They are eye-catching enough that they double as advertising
for the businesses that use them. Usually it is places like florists that
have small deliveries to make that buy them.

Yeah, I remember that joke now.

As far as the French car, I tried Googling it, but nothing came up. I
likely spelled it wrong.

I think it was a show-car from maybe a decade ago, kind of rounded and
real small - a modern take of a Citroen 2 CV, IIRC.

Convertibles are baldy, fat old men cars. You either need two wheels
or, to _really_ hold on to your youth (pun intended), an absolutely
standard sub compact (over here it is something like a Vauxhall Corsa or
the base model Peugot 205) and put every external make-it-look-fast
goody onto the bodywork, tint or mirror the glass and put a 5lb coffee
tin with both ends cut off on the exhaust, after you belt holes all the
way through the silencer. Then you install a stereo that causes the
wiring harness to melt, even though you have gold connectors throughout,
and drive around as fast (that is, really, really slow) as the 100k mile
motor can wheeze at, with the sound system turned up until your eardrums
perforate and anyone closer than 15 yards can feel their intestines move.

At least, that's how it's done around here. Pictures may follow
