Cool. I poked around a little bit and found several shipping lines
offering supercargo transport fares. Not cheap, but could be an
interesting way to travel and gain some photo opportunities.

I'd sailed halfway round the world on one before I was 2 years old. In
fact, I learned to walk on one. Here's a picture of my nursery:
http://www.ozhoo.net.au/~strathsisters/strathnaver/

http://www.ozhoo.net.au/~strathsisters/strathnaver/

They used to take £10 poms out, and service families (like mine) back.
The route was quite interesting: Sidney, Melbourne, Fremantle,
Colombo, Bombay, Aden, Suez, Marseilles, Gibraltar, Portsmouth? I
expect I've missed some out.

The one we sailed on, the Strathnaver, was the first passenger ship
through the Suez Canal after the Suez crisis. That must have seemed
quite ironic to my parents because they'd served in Egypt during the
first crisis a few years earlier.

The port has a slight dog leg. She had to make a slight turn to
starboard to get pointed toward the harbour mouth. I had previsualised
this shot so I just positioned myself accordingly.

We are off to the Battlefords for a dawg show.
I am showing Jester, the ADHD puppy, Charmi is showing Bella, the lovely
Walloon.
I will be back on Sunday, depending on how well we do, perhaps earlier than
later.

Have fun.

It's why JCO should be kicked off... and why, while the list should not be
moderated, that there should be, at times, judicial use of cutting someone
off.

I like the digest format, helps me sort through the vast messages on
this list. I know I could go to individual emails and filter out
children but I don't want the hassle of sorting through all the
messages so this relatively new member is going to say adios. It's
really sad, there's some good folks providing good resources on this
list but with no moderation to control pure and obvious trolling as
well as the out of control OT posts I can't handle this and hope to
see some of you helpful folks elsewhere.

I'm unsubbing, email me off list if you have thoughts (invitation
does not extend to trolls).

Well, now that I have put the cat amongst the pigeons

It is now c.11pm and my presence is required at work.
I have already done 13 hours today, so if I start
getting a little offensive later in the week, please
excuse me. I get like that when I am sleep-deprived.
But it will all be tongue-in-cheek. I don't really
hate Americans, or any other race for that matter. I
just like to tweak your whiskers every now and then to
make sure you are awake and listening.

See ya

2001-03-01 Thread petit miam

Hi everyone :)

I will be signing off the list tomorrow for a week.
I am off overseas to Melbourne for a course for my
job. Talk to ya when I get back. Maybe I can find a
nice compact over there. Not much chance in NZ (ROTF).

BTW I lied again (this is becoming a habit). I got my
Tamron lens out and it is SP 60-300 1:3.8-5.4, not
80-210 as I thought. And I see I do not have the
correct adaptor for my MZ-30 as some people on this
list suggested, thankyou. I have P-K, not P-KA. My dad
had the P-K for his camera (don't know which model,
but will ask) and he thought it would work.

Jody.
