This particular Friday makes things a little more difficult for me since it is my daughter's birthday on the Thursday, but she's now at an age where she may well consider it an advantage if I were to be travelling through France at that time. If we go with Friday to Sunday then April 13th - 15th works better for me. But i'm only really mentioning this to break the silence. Sounds good? I know the Olympics is later in the year, I just don't want to be drowned amongst the noise, I think we have a chance to gather more attention by hosting it in the year afterwards. Also I have a feeling that the hotels in London will up their prices for the entire year to make the most of the big event (which is what happened in other cities, local industry/enterprise was able to extend the attraction period and more visitors came before/after to see the Olympic city and locations). Just a quick preliminary heads-up (without anything being set in stone
atm.)
There's a decent chance for a Perl6 hackathon (and related events in
the days before and after) in Oslo the weekend of march 23-25 - one
week before David's wife's suggestion :).
I've heard from some of the prospective attendees that they'd love for
something more to do in .EU around that time, perhaps being a bit
miffed by the long weeks between that hackathon and the NLPW dates in
the beginning of march.
So if $organizers would like to have some attention from the Perl6
crowd (or maybe give the qa/toolchain gang an opportunity to make
something happen in the Perl6 community) there might be a good time
for this then. We'd also make life a little easier for some of the
people who come from faraways. :)
