Re: [Phono-L] Horn connector for playing an iPod through a cylinder machine
My "hi fi" system includes a late '20s University radio driver which must weigh 10 pounds, attached to a formerly oak-grained 10-panel Cygnet horn. For portable use, I have an mp3 player rubber-banded to a set of cheapo amplified speakers, which works remarkably well & fits in the breast pocket of my jackets. I've given several as gifts and recommend them highly . http://tinyurl.com/4eq54zh - Original Message - From: "Leroy Barco" To: "Antique Phonograph List" Sent: Tuesday, February 15, 2011 8:43 PM Subject: [Phono-L] Horn connector for playing an iPod through a cylinder machine I followed vinyl vision's idea for iPod into machine. Re: [Phono-L] Horn connector for playing an iPod through a cylinder machine
You guys are behind the times. You need to check out the site scienceandsons.com. I found this site in the latest issue of Bloomberg BusinessWeek and you need to look at the "Phonophone" and other modern gadgets. I know that modern gadgets do not interest many of us but maybe the introduction of retro devices like these will perk up the interest in "real" audio antiques. ---Art Heller ___ Phono-L mailing list http://phono-l.oldcrank.org

Indeed interesting, although I still don't get the iHype. Anyway, there's also the iPhonograph: http://www.michaelcumella.com/ip/ On 15.02.2011 06:32, Vinyl Visions wrote: Hi Guys, I need your input to see if this is a viable idea. Very interesting idea! It's sort of like that miniature Orthophonic horn that Bob Baumbach created for the MP3 player. The player fits into a socket and the music is acoustically amplified through the horn. It is a cool device too!
