I would vote on Jakub, because he probably has more time than Sean and has already a good experience (we received the cvs account in the same day :) ) Ah, and I don't think that more than one editor is needed.. Because we all are, more or less, short on time I propose to have more than one person? And by the way, it is not mandatory to have an editor, imho. It would be nice, yes ;-) Friedhelm

The docs already contains this list, in the form of (previous) honorable contributors. Hi, As I explained, I am still about to contribute to the PHP Website team (which is not only replying to emails), as usual, so I am not going away :) We will see, if we can manage to comlete some plans around the php.net site this year. I don't know yet. The website could do a lot with some improved hackability, reduced markup size, and such. It is still a damn lot smaller project than the PHP Documentation. ||*()*|| Hi, Gabor. I'm not as good as others in writing english, what's why I almost never took part in editing actual contents, but I agree with almost every word said by other folks here, except for the cases when I have to include "my personal" mark before "respect". =) I don't mind if you want to exclude yourself from editors, but no matter how active you will be in this team further - you've already earned a honorable position in my personal list of good fellows. =) t --

Re: [PHP-DOC] Gabor resigns from the editor post
Hi Goba, It was a shock to me to see you will leave us. I loved to work with you and I personally have to thank you for helping me, especially when I joined the project. You always had a sensible position, which I greatly admire. And I still have the hope to meet all you personally some day :) I have many difficulties in expressing my feelings in other language than Portuguese, but resuming, I just want to thank you for this years you worked with us to create the great PHP documentation. Good luck for your projects and with your girlfriend especially, Nuno P.S.: I was almost crying when writing this e-mail :) - Original Message - Hi, I have been pondering through this writeup in the last couple of weeks, and the recent OSCOM events [1] prompted me to be straight and honest, and step back from the leadership of the PHP Documentation and from the list on the documentation frontpage consequently. To be honest, I have not been active the last couple of months, only pariticipated in some directional discussions, and unfortunately I don't see a light in the future to be able to contribute more. Certainly I don't deserve the position to be named and listed as the PHP Documentation Editor anymore. There are quite a few more active people, who should get the credit they deserve. Being a seventh year university student, closer to my completion (hopefully next summer), I try to concentrate more on my studies. Last summer I got to know a great girl [2], who I admire, and we have been living happily in love since then (nearly nine months now), and look forward to keep this relationship indefinitely :) With some guys, we also manage to push content regularly into Weblabor.hu, our all-free (CC licensed, no ads) web development site for Hungarian developers. This year, we are preparing the Web Development Conference 2006 here in Hungary, which is the successor to our PHP Conferences (and yes, it does include content on subjects "competing" with PHP, and yes, it is free for all attendees as the PHP Conferences were before, so we expect around 500 attendees this year too). I also take a very small part in the Drupal CMS development, as many of you know, also coordinating the Hungarian translation of the interface, and the Drupal.hu website. Last, but not least I am also going to participate in musical performances again (remember the pics I posted last summer?), playing a complex character in a dramatic musical about the impact of wars on children, and how is it possible to overcome the great burdens of losing parents and all stability around you. Look at this list, and althogh I omitted some of my less interesting activities, it is quite obvious, that I am not going to be able to took part at phpdoc on the level the PHP Documentation would deserve. My plans are to keep being part of the PHP Website team, and being "active" there on the level I have been able to be "active" recently (ie. no developments for the php.net site soon from me, althogh it would need quite some work). As a website team member I would be really interested in seeing the light of the day for livedocs. It needs some momentum to be built around it, and I am hopeful, that someone will be able to do that. I am willing to be an "advisor" of the doc group further on, if it helps, so I can participate in shaping directions, in case there is any question I can help with. I cannot promise to keep an eye on the phpdoc discussions though. I hope that my reasons are understandable, and I am certain that we will be able to manage to execute some smooth process of handing the reposibilities and the credits over. It was a great pleasure to work with you, and shape the PHP Documentation into what it is today. Personally, I have appreciated your leadership and guidance. It seems that as members of the documentation team evolve our personal lives, we've less and less time to devote to phpdoc. That is to say that your reasons are well understood. Thank you for your service. You've been a clear head when we needed it, and a pleasure to work with on all occasions. I'm glad you won't be disappearing from php.net, entirely. S
