Regarding the darkroom, I have almost given up on
mine. Last week CompUSA had a great deal on the new
Epson 3200 scanner that I could not pass up.
Accordingly, I have spent the last week scanning and
printing various negatives (pinhole and otherwise),
via MIS Quadtones and I can only say that I am truly
amazed. The best part - today after a
not-so-productive day of shooting (and a much more
productive day of building pinholes) I had my final
images in a very short period of time.

Polaroid, Pinhole, and Digital are three great peas in
a pod. The images created with my digital darkroom
are quite inspiring, an besides, with polaroid who
really needs a darkroom?

the negatives and then use my computer to keep an
album of my work. I do not have a darkroom available.
Any feedback would be most welcome.

I happen to be the proud owner of Mottweiler Design pinoramic camera. I
don't think Kurt Mottweiler is making the camera, but you can see it at

Hey Guy,
It looks like some one has taken a glass lens and taken out the
apertures and replaced them with a pinhole. I have seen this done when
some one wanted to have a very great depth of field. I my memory serves
me I saw this in either Popular or Modern Photography magazine.

Guy,

I think it is nothing but a regular 50mm lens to which a pinhole has been
added, probably inside the lens itself and in between the front and rear
elements, by leaving a good portion of the lens uncovered you are assured to
be able to frame the shot using the viewfinder, then you close the aperture
until it covers the round black portion on which the pinhole is made or
mounted and make the exposure. This lens will provide enormous DOF at
expenses of diffraction. Not a pinhole lens in the sense we use them, but a
trick many model builders (trains, ships, etc) utilize to make images of
their creations and get a DOF that is close to what they would get if the
subject was life size.

I'm rather intrigued by this lens or pinhole.

Thanks for the reply. But the panopin is a panoramic camera that uses a
curved film plane to give a 120 degree angle of view. The curved film plan
helps to reduce curvature of the image. There is a website that sells the
camera and also shows sample images and I am trying to get something to give
me this perspective in my photography.

What do you mean with panopin? 360 degrees or just "elongated"? If it's
the lasr one, a suggestion:
a)transform a Holga 120S into a pinhole camera (enough links one the
net) and then:
b)load her with 35 mm film!
See
http://www.theverb.com/holga/modification.htm

or Kim Taylor who did the same with a Lubitel 166

If you are satisfied with 180 degrees, have a look on this page and

Hi, and a happy holiday to all. I was wondering, since I am pretty much a
newbie at pinholing, and I am enjoying each moment so far, has anyone had
experience with the panopin camera? I am thinking about getting one though I
am still designing one of my own (the fun part for myself), I just do not
have an idea on how to get the film advance mechanism to work. Also just how
do paper negatives compare to film negatives? If the paper negatives are
just as good then I can forego the film advance mechanism.
Currently I am using a 4x5 camera I made up and using Polaroid 55 type
film. I am hoping to scan in the negatives and then use my computer to keep
an album of my work. I do not have a darkroom available. Any feedback would
be most welcome. Enjoy. Oh and in keeping with the Easter holiday I was
wondering, has anyone thought about blowing out eggs and then coating the
inside with light sensitive emulsion exposing the eggs and then developing
and carefully cutting the eggs open? I see it in my head but its just one of
those random thoughts I get every now and again. CJ

Tom,
It's great to hear from you.
I'm so far back on things that I don't think I'll ever catch up. I've
got about 3,000 unread messages in my email basket (985 from the Pinhole
list...). There is so much stuff piled up on my desk that I would need
to dig "carrots" to find things and only an archeologist could make
sense of it! And then, I have so much backlog in negatives to print...
But my show closed this weekend and I just stuck to the great Tom
Lindsay words of wisdom: "Keep on Pinholin"!
My last experiment (unprocessed yet) it to test the Flying Pinhole
camera with chrome film to get a 2 1/4 x 33 inch a transparency of
continuous-ovelapping-images, similar to that produced by the travelling
camera. If that works, then I'd like to create a larger body of this
kind of work on transparency...!
I'll write to you off line to hear more about you.
Happy, happy Easter to you and family, Tom!
(and, of course, "Keep on Pinholin"!)
