Try 85B. TO get accurate colors you will also need to use color correction
filters, like the ones you print through. I found the ones I got with just
the 85B were kind of neat though I only did a few shots at the end of the
class because we had a few sheets of paper left over...
have fun...it's really neat...BTW please be careful of ventilation!!! This
stuff really stinks...

Thanks for the replies re P30. I had looked in the on-line catalogues but
not in the hard copy. Calumet says there's no extra shipping charge as long
it is shipped by ground. Which 85 filter is best? And is the paper ca ISO 6,
like BW? I've made a camera which will yield a close to 180 degree angle of
view on a 5 1/2 by 14 inch paper curved into a semicircle, with a very thin
front so as not to obstruct.

due

Hello fellow pinheads,

This thread has me confused.

I understand we need:
1) an 85B to deal with daylight since Ilfochrome is balanced for tungsten
2) a filter pack to deal with the batch to batch variations (unless we just
want to yield to kismet), and
3) this is where I am not clear -- do we need an additional filtration for
reciprocity failure? assuming we want a little control?

Giorgio
If you write to me and I don't write back, is that reciprocity failure?

Hi all,

All help has beenwell, helpful. Blue is waning but now I have a bit more
magenta than I want. I've been using a 50 yellow anda 10 magenta filter
sandwich behind the pinhole. (I'm waiting for an 85B filter to arrive in the
mail soon.

Hannah, I missed your post, I am using an 8x20 Korona.

Ah! You're right, I think you need to look at all the filtration recommended
in the instructions. UV filter is suggested in the filter pack, too, isn't
it?

Re: [pinhole-discussion] ilfochrome filtration

2000-10-11 Thread Chris Peregoy
I did a few 8x10 ciba pinholes a few years ago and found that in addition to
the 85 filter I had to use a UV filter too. I found there to be too much UV
light affecting my color balance, perhaps because there was no glass to block
that type of light.

Mike Keller wrote:

I took a class at Penland some years ago, printing (then) Cibachrome, and an
Ilford tech rep taught the class. He brought a processor for us to use, and
he spent some time shooting Ciba in an 11x14 field camera, and the orange
 filter was all he used.

Re: [pinhole-discussion] ilfochrome filtration

2000-10-11 Thread Guy Glorieux
Mark,

I'd be happy if you could post your findings on this, since I will be
getting into this some time in the not too distant future.

I just got my hands on a turn-of-the-century (the 19th, of course, not
the 20th...) 11x14 view camera which I intend to use both with its
original lens and as a pinhole camera. I still have to do quite a lot
of cleaning on the camera, test the belows, etc. I have also found a
11x14 film holder on eBay for a cheap price but it may be be a couple of
months before I am ready to do this.

My plan is to do BW paper negative and Ilfochrome with the camera, so
any information you can find on filtration would be very helpful to me
in the future, if you care to share it.

Do you process the Ilfochrome yourself or do you drop it at your lab?
My lab told me that they would be most happy to drop my paper into their
processor.

Thanks and best wishes.
