Thanks again for making a patch - I'll take a look. I'm sure it'll be
fine though :)

I did ask NationalRail (twice!) if they had a more friendly interface,
such as a WebService... but never received any reply at all. Without a
definitive description of the possible results (such as WSDL or XML

rolling out enhancements to their service which cause further
incompatibilities...

I don't think you can change the user friendly text of a tag you have
already entered a text for without restarting or rescanning at the

Hi Felix,

I'm not too sur what this xilinx chip is about, but I did what you

Thank you for your advice - I imagined many reasons for the SB3 not

Thank you also for going into a shop and trying the Logitech SB3: this
prooved that this was not related to Logitech version.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last FM Connectivity

2007-07-10 Thread Siduhe

A few more details would help:
Do you have an internet security program / firewall?
What version of Slimserver are you using?
What OS are you using (Mac/Linux/Windows XP/Vista)?

Making an educated guess, try adding exceptions to your firewall for
both slim.exe and socketwrapper.exe. I suspect the second of these is
what's causing your problem.

You may even need to install the modified version of socketwrapper
which has been produced by members of this forum to get certain
internet radio stations to work, but let us know if the above step
sorts your problem out first.

No... I get three choices (none) plus Sleep.cmd and Restart.cmd the two
batch files that I placed in the scripts path. I can also see all three
choices via he Web UI. No matter what selection I make in the Web UI
the order in which the choices appear in the SB plugin menu do not
correlate. (Yes, I press "Change" in the Web UI after I make my
selection). In some cases the Restart.cmd appears as the first choice
even if I don't select it at all via the Web UI. If I select the
sleep.cmd batch via the SB menu and press play... the batch is
executed, but the option in the plugin menu goes back to whatever was
there before.. e.g (none) or restart.cmd. This is a bit odd.

Btw, this Plugin has a LOTS of potential. It just needs to be polished
a little bit. One can envision having the server doing all kind of
things... like controlling the lights. Maybe if the configuration were
simplified to just allow the user to configure the plugin options in
one place (The Web UI) it "might" simplify things. I also wonder how
difficult it would be to modify the Plugin so that just by pressing a
key combination in the remote a script is executed in the server.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last FM Connectivity

2007-07-10 Thread Colin Reilly

First of all, my SB3 doesn't have a connection to the Internet. I
realized that last night. It is connected via a hub to my PC, which in
turn is connected wirelessly to my router downstairs which inturn is
connected to the Internet, so although my PC can get Internet access
the player can't. I didn't think too much about it because my PC had
access and that was all I cared about at the time.

I changed the MP3 streaming method from direct to proxied, so that
Slimserver would be handling the connection and I could then receive
Internet Radio stations, but still not LastFM. I still get a timeout.

My OS is XP. I use AVG virus protection and Windows firewall is turned
on. I tried turning the firewall off and uninstalling AVG with no
difference. Both Slim.exe and Socketwrapper.exe are in the exceptions
table.

Yes, I agree, what shows on the SB does not correlate with what is
chosen in the Web interface. One would expect the choice made via the
Web to show on the SB in some fashion.

But does the choice made in the Web interface (other than the Power Off
choice, which seems buggy), actually work when the relevant action is
performed? It does for me.

At the moment the information in the headers only get information from
the current level in the menu hierarchy, which means that an artist
header can only be placed on a menu level shown after you have selected
an artist. So it won't work in your case since you like to show the
artist header also after you have selected a media type.

But your scenario is a good example where it would be nice to be able
to have the same header shown for several levels in the menu hierarchy.
I'll put this on the wish list for a future release.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] "Wave Output" plugin?

Apologies for laziness - I've not been following the "wave input"

Is there a "wave output" plugin? i.e. something that will fork the

I know SoftSqueeze is one route to get this, but I'm looking for

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicInfoSCR - Alternative volume control not working

Ah! It DOES actually sort the results - just not as I was expecting.

I only really use song search and the results are sorted by the SONG

Where the search returns several songs with identical names they do not

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Lazy Search Music Plugin v2.3 Released

2007-07-10 Thread Stuart Hickinbottom
It sorts on the title of tracks only so if there are multiple tracks
with the same title then you'll see them in whatever order the database
feels like - that might be the order they were scanned in, or some
internal database order (not sure what MySQL does), but it's almost
certainly not predictable.

If it's very important then I might be able to make it predictable by
sorting on (artist, album, title), but it might take me a while to get
around to it as I've just got back from holiday. I'm pretty sure,
though, that the normal SlimServer search doesn't do that either.

For Slimserver direct stream from the PC soundcard.
Works well although I noticed that your RC plugin does not play nice
with the waveinput plugin on my Intel/XP machine.
Haven't done any troubleshooting I just uninstalled the inguz plugin
for now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lazy Search - Songs not working

2007-07-10 Thread Stuart Hickinbottom
Very odd - you should at least be seeing log entries about the database
being "lazified" (where the plugin rebuilds the indexing) after you've
restarted the server. Are you sure you're not seeing those when starting
the server with d_plugins?

After the uninstallation, reinstallation, clear&rescan and then
restarting of the server does artist and album searching still work and
song search not?

I've not heard of this particular problem (there have not been any bugs
for a while), but where things have gone wrong in the past it's always
because something has been changed. Have you started/stopped using
MusicMagic, MoodLogic, iTunes, language settings etc?

We should be able to get to the bottom of it, but it might take a little
investigation to work out what's going on.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last FM Connectivity

2007-07-10 Thread sprouts

Well, I worked out what was wrong with my setup. I could play AlienBBC,
but not Last.fm or Live365. The problem was that my computer was
connected directly to the internet, wirelessly to a router (not
connected to the internet) then on to the squeezebox. The problem was
that the squeezebox couldn't access the internet directly
(squeezenetwork didn't work either). I'd mainly been playing mp3s from
the computer, so it hadn't been much of a problem, as the squeezebox
was able to pick these up fine. Not sure why AlienBBC worked.., but
anyway, problem solved!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last FM Connectivity

2007-07-10 Thread Paul Webster

I think it would have worked with AlienBBC because it is your SlimServer
machine that connects to the internet to get that RealAudio stream and
it then converts it to pass it to the Squeezebox - i.e. Squeezebox did
not need direct internet connection.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lots of errors with SlimScrobbler

2007-07-10 Thread stinkingpig

SlimScrobbler hasn't been posting to Last.FM for several weeks.
Slimserver 6.5.2, SlimScrobbler 0375, and the log is full of nothing
but:
2007-06-25 23:42:21.2122 Select task failed: Not a SCALAR reference at
/usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Networking/Select.pm line 278. My goodness,
the log is also 5.9 GB. PendingSongFile is 254 KB too...

Any ideas?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] musicinfoscr?

2007-07-10 Thread ratso

i have a mac, osx 10.4. i mention this because it's usually the problem.
have dragged the musicinfo folder into my plugins but it doesn't seem to
be working? can't see any 'musicinfo' or any such in my plugins list. it
says in michael's instructions to go to 'player settings/plugins' (?) i
assume this is the 'plugins' section of server settings. this isn't the
'MUSIC INFORMATION SCREEN - FORMAT WHITELIST' setting is it, that
doesn't seem right. anyways, help if you can. i am using the latest
slim build, 6.5.2.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] musicinfoscr?

2007-07-10 Thread ratso

oh yes, i should also mention something else. this is rather confusing.
at the top of michael's screen, there are two seperate download files.
one is musicinfoscr.pm which michael says copy into your plugin file,
the other is a zip file which contains a folder with 3 bmp. files and 4
pm. files. michael does not mention this in his site. i have put the
musicinfoscr.pm into the zipped folder and placed the whole
kitandkaboodle into the plugins file. correct?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: OrangeCD Suite supports audio playback through Squeezebox

2007-07-10 Thread andrei_td

I received several complaints from Squeezebox/Transporter owners who
store their collections on NAS or dedicated computer. In these cases,
SlimServer sees music library folder as local drive path (eg.
D:\Music), while OrangeCD that runs on a different PC or laptop sees
the same library as UNC path (e.g. \\library\music). As result, the
plugin wasn't able to send correct playlist to Squeezebox.

OrangeCD Suite 6.1.6 contains an update to Squeezebox control plugin
that addresses this problem. It allows customizing both local and
remote library paths, so when it needs to send a file name to
SlimServer, it first translates the path into a form that SlimServer
understands.

Not this time :-)

Oh, right, I'm sorry, these instructions are slightly outdated. It's now
in "Player Settings/MusicInfo Screen". There you can define how you want
the screen to look. And in the basic player settings you'll have to set it
as your screensaver.

If you can see this, then it's loaded fine. No Mac trouble ;-). The above
is the one single global setting for MusicInfoSCR. What you want is in the
player settings.

I hope you'll figure it out. I'll be offline for a few days, won't be able
to answer until the end of the week.

Again slightly out of date... I'll have to work my web site. The single
file (and the corresponding instructions) are for SlimServer pre 6.5
versions only. You did fine when you downloaded the .zip and unpacked it
into the plugins folder.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Lots of errors with SlimScrobbler

2007-07-10 Thread James

The select error, if it's related to SlimScrobbler at all, is probably
just a LastFM network issue.

A couple of people have reported problems when submissions don't work
for a long time. Seems like the pending song file becomes corrupted in
some way when it gets too big, although I think you'd see an error from
the plugin if that was the case.

It's wierd though, my scrobbling has been working fine the whole time
with no issues. The radio's been a bit flaky but that seems OK since
the weekend.
I know that users used to be allocated to a specific scrobble server so
I wonder if that's why it doesn't work for some people only? You used to
be able to see that on the LastFM account page but it's gone now.
