[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC Beta 5 and SC 7.0 - 16373
Hi, after running SS 6.5 SVN for quite some time I thought I'd have a look at SC 7 - what an improvement :) Having a spot of bother getting Alien BBC working though. I have the Lazy Search plugin installed and working ok, so I'm assuming I'm dropping the plugins into the right directory (/usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins - this is SymLinked to /var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins) I'm running this on CentOS 4 Linux. SC was installed from RPM Alien appears in the list of plugins and is enabled, and also appears under Internet Radio on the menus, however its icon seems to be missing - I just get a musical note icon. Clicking on that icon returns an empty page. If I click Settings on the Plugins tab I again get an empty page and the following error in server.log; Slim::Web::HTTP::_generateContentFromFile (2313) Error: file error - : not found Given that the Lazy Search plugin works ok I'm not sure where to look next - any ideas anyone ? [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moose Request - Touch View of Tree
Hellay! I've began to use my N800 thru TightVNC/VNC Viewer which, when opening Moose and resizing it to the N800 screen gives a very nice and good looking alternative to remote. Actually faster than going the usual way with the 770 skin for SS/SC. Its very easy to handle with the Touch View and it's nice that also the Library gets big. However, the Tree view (Library) is really small all the time. Makes it quite hard to see all the radio stations, for example. I wish there was a Touch Mode for the Tree view as well. In that case Moose+N800 would be an astonishing combo! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Alien BBC possible flac problem?
The first 2>/dev/null is part of mplayer-stdout and necessary because of flipflip's mods to mplayer. The second "2>/dev/null" at the very end on Flac and MP3 lines is unecessary and I think are accidental as they are not on the WMA lines further down which also uses mplayer-stdout. I am surprised that the Flac encoding only uses 5% CPU whereas RealAudio decoding which should be much lower load is using 58.6% CPU. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42335 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Yes I agree, the first one will stop any error messages interfering with the piping to the flac program. The second could possibly be piped elsewhere I suppose. I would think 'no interface' would be better... a cronjob that runs a couple times an hour looking for new stuff, checking and moving as appropriate. It could mail you about things it didn't like. And then trigger a rescan of just the directory where the new stuff (that it wasnt mad at) went, which should only take a few seconds. And learn perl.. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plug-in suggestion
Scenario 2 is exactly what I'm looking for. I use a Mac as my main computer, but all of my development experience is Windows. I don't really want to fire up a Windows VM just to edit a couple new audio files. I'd ideally like to avoid a full rescan since I run slimserver on an ARM-based NAS, so a full re-scan takes more than a few minutes (I've got 7000+ tracks). The problem I'm trying to solve is this: I've got a few scripts running on my NAS that automatically record programs, download "podcasts" (they're podcasts, but I want to grab the original songs out of them and keep those in my library, and sometimes they don't have the full set of tags) and that sort of thing. I don't mind if I have to manually launch a "check for new tracks" service, but ideally I'd like to be able to do it from the squeezebox, not have to have a full graphical UI (if I have to clean up some tags, I don't mind those having to wait until I load up a web browser). The other problem I have is that if I download tracks (e.g. from Amazon) it is very cumbersome to put them into the right spot (a script could take care of that) and adding them to the library takes more than a few minutes (I've seen cases where it's taken somewhere between 15 minutes and several days before it's available). PERL I can figure out (I've been actively avoiding it for about 10 years now, but it looks like I might be out of luck now). I just need some help with the plug-in side of things. Could you point me to a fairly basic plugin that might be a good starting point (the less it does the better)? Thanks. I think some people have had to remove the Cache/plugin-data.yaml file to clear the cached information. Could you point me to a fairly > basic plugin that might be a good starting point (the less it does the > better)? > I'm not sure I'm the best to suggest which one to start with, but here are some suggestions anyway. You need to decide if you want to make it for SlimServer 6.5 or SqueezeCenter 7.0. SqueezeCenter 7.0 is still beta, but it will probably be officially released within the next weeks. The plugin API has changed quite a bit between 6.5 and 7.0, so making a plugin that works for both will be hard. Personally I think it sounds like you should go with 7.0 since this plugin will probably not be finished before 7.0 has been officially released anyway. The "SavePlaylist" plugin bundled with SlimServer/SqueezeCenter contains some text input code, this might be useful for the part where you like to edit the tag values when previewing the file. The "Rescan" plugin bundled with SlimServer/SqueezeCenter performs a rescan, so this might be useful for the last point when you should scan the files you have added. My own "Custom Scan" plugin downloadable from my download page contains some code in its CustomTag scanning module that read tags from MP3 files. There is some plugin examples/tutorial code available in the SlimServer/SqueezeCenter web interface under "Help->Technical Information->SqueezeCenter Plugins". However, you should note that this currently describes the 6.5 API, so everything described there won't work in 7.0. There is also some information in the wiki here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?DeveloperGuide This also currently describes the 6.5 API, so everything described there won't work in 7.0. The following wiki page describes the changes in the 7.0 API: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SlimServer7Plugins Finally, on the bottom of the last mentioned page you will also find a really simple "Hello World" plugin which might be a good start if you just like to get something up and runnig and start modifying things. Start to experiment and look through the code and don't be afraid to ask questions. One thing that can be worth mentioning when you look in third party plugin code for 7.0 is that the actual perl code is packed in a .par file in the lib directory. To actually see the code you can just unpack this with a standard unzip tool. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.homeip.net) 'My download page' (http://erland.homeip.net/download) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.homeip.net/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42091 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
