Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 0.9 Beta forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-02-09 Thread TechHome

After playing around with the path in the install string and renaming
"slimnas-0.92.tgz" to "slimnas.tgz" I got the installation done. I
struggled with getting Squeezecenter to run, at first, but after a
re-boot and re-enabling, it all works now.

Thanks Michael for this cool integration!

This is a custom installation so you should contact your supplier to
ensure that they tested it before shipping. I don't think QNAP
reallyknow much about AlienBBC installation - IIRC Progressive
Consumer did the legwork.

If the AlienBBc was working before shipping - then the problem is
network related - make sure your QNAP has addresses for DNS servers and
Gateway set up.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC and Mac instructions

2008-02-09 Thread danco

A couple of points.

1. You don't need any special software to access /usr/local/bin.

Just use Go to Folder in the Finder's Go menu, and you can type in
/usr/local/bin to see it in a normal Finder window. Or just type /usr
to have that show in a Finder window and move down the subfolders.

2. As bpa says, the new version of AlienBBC supports a *standard*
installation of Mplayer. In particular, that means it must be installed
in the Applications folder, which is the default. But one needs to
remember that if one prefers to put Mplayer in a different folder.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC via QNAS TS109 "no programmes"

2008-02-09 Thread BrynClarke

I bought a QBAS TS109 with Slimserver and AlienBBC pre-installed, and
just got a SB3. Sadly, AlienBBC does not work at all - "No programmes
found" on all channels, and web pages are all blank. Some other
Internet Radio stations do work.

Any ideas how I might fix? I emailed QNAP in both Taiwan and UK, but
no response so far...

A reminder the above instructions are only valid for SS 6.x
installations.

With SC7 AlienBBC2.0 Mac installation has been simplified. AlienBBC
supports a standard installation of MPlayer - AlienBBC finds the
correct MPlayer and there is no need to delve into the Mplayer
directories.

Whaleoil,
Correct - the bug is one channel out of both speakers. Not mono which
is a mixture of two channels - the same coming out of both speakers.

The sample is unusual in that singing is only on one channel.

Danco,
The file on the server has no "ram" extension. I don't know where it
is being added.

Triode,
Audio drivers shouldn't matter as the problem first showed up when
playing through a SB3 - the audio output shouldn't any OS drivers since
it is a WAV output.

Is it possible to host your build of 1.0rc2 as mplayerhq still has the
old 1.0rc1 (aka SVN-r21482-4.0.1 ) build.

Sorry to bump up this old thread!

I lost all my Slimserver settings due to a freak accident, so I am
having to load stuff up again from scratch.

I ran into a real headache trying to get the XM plugin to work. I
extracted the XM plugin to C:/Program Files/Slimserver/server/Plugins
as typical, and restarted Slimserver. I cannot see the XM plugin under
the plugins menu in Slimserver!?! I have changed around the options for
"Load Plugins on the Fly" and "Load Plugins at Startup", but to no
avail.

Just seems like Slimserver cannot see the plugin that I extracted into
the C:/Program Files/Slimserver/server/Plugins folder. What am I doing
wrong?

'squeezecenter is not available' message

I've tried fresh install of freenas (full installs of most recent, and
most recent stable)

I'm downloading the slimnas files straight from firefox on os x
straight to the slimnas folder on a mount.

I see the nice message where its installs, its in the left menu column,
I've clicked to save, then clicked to enable

after browsing most topics on the slimnas I've typed in ps ax in the
command line and nothing seems to be running in the results. I have
tried a number of different nightlys from slimdevices

I am attemtping to run squeeze center so all software is matching :-)

Any help for this dummy get this up and running would be greatly

Thanks, Phil. It looks like you're using an older release, as the
"undefined value" bug should be fixed, and I've also improved a lot of
the overly chatty debugging (though I still need to move fully to the
pure log4perl logging -- many of my plugins use a logging class I built
to facilitate targeted debugging in development). 7a5 should be the best
-- unless you see that I've released something newer when you check the

You'll lose customisation though.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC error - Can't locate object method "parse"

2008-02-09 Thread mflint

Hey folks,

I'm running trunk SC7 and AlienBBC beta 5, seeing this error in my
log:

Code:

  "Plugins::Alien::Parsers::AodParser"?) at

This is when I select any menu item under "AlienBBC".

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Biography and Album Review

2008-02-09 Thread RalphO

I have taken the plunge and installed the latest nightly SlimCenter 7.0
and the plugins that I like to use. I expected to have some troubles
with AlienBBC but no it works fine. The plugins that I expected to
have least problems with were Biography and Album Review. They seemed
to install fine but when I try to use either of them I get the
following message:

"Information could not be collected. There might be a network problem.
Please try again! (99)"

I guess that there could be some network problems but I would be
surprised.

Anyone else have any issues? Any ideas

Run this command from a shell prompt on the Ubuntu box

mplayer -v -playlist http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/realmedia/fmg2.rpm

You should get an announcement first and then the live radio 2 stream.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Listen Again stops after 20 seconds

This may be some sort of network timing or BBC server problems. The BBC
seem to have groups of servers handling regions.

You should try increase the network Timeout under Server
Settings/Network/Radio station timeout from 5 to say 30.

You should revert back to the original custom-convert.conf file so that
changes are minimised.

The server hardware is a laptop which I am using to trial the server
setup and make sure that I can get all components that I want working
before building on the actual hardware (freenas box) so yes there is a
sound card available.

Not sure if this will help though it seems to be a stream error, what
is your suggestion to test the build options, I just installed mplayer
with apt-get install mplayer?

Thanks for the fast reply.

Unfortunatly it didnt help and things have taken a turn for the worst.
Now I cannot even get the BBC live streams to work, virgin works on
Alien thou. I have tried to remove all the software and reinstall it
all. But no joy.. Its a real shame because I really enjoy the listen
again facility and used to listen to it in bed every night.

Just for reference. When I select the listen again program, I get the
connecting message and a quick flick onto the time elapsed counter, ie
00.00 , then a flicker and back to the connecting message and the
process loops .

Hope I can get a fix as my bedtime routine is just not the same..

You do not need the w32codecs for BBC stations. so that issue is

Does you server have any audio hardware to test whether mplayer is

Thanks for your response, Michael.

The typo is in my post,I executed the command properly. The command
goes up into the execute window, but nothing happens. I am using the
LiveCD install w/ DOS USB key. Is this an issue? Do I need the full,

I saw an error in my log today:

Can't call method "name" on an undefined value at
P:/Music/SlimServer/trunk/server/Plugins/SyncOptions/Plugin.pm line 347.

That happened when I was streaming a LastFM station. Just before it was:

Also there appears to be some missing strings:

(plugin.SyncOptions) - DEBUG_PLUGIN_SYNCOPTIONS

The SyncOptions plugin is writing messages that I would not expect to see at

The plugin returns the bitrate as '128_000', the stream fails. When I change
this to return '128000', the stream is fine.

Is it because it's returning a string, rather than number, and a string to
float conversion doesn't like _ characters?

I think this may only be when I play LastFM streams.

When it goes wrong, the WebUI becomes unresponsive.

I have configured MusicInfoSCR to display the following format display elements
on a Transporter:

primary screen:
PLAYING (X_OF_Y) TRACKSTATRATINGSTATIC
PLAYTIME_PROGRESS
DISC-TRACKNUM.TITLE
EXT

secondary screen:
ALBUM (YEAR)
ARTIST
CURRTIME

I guess a lot of those tags have no meaning for internet streams, and could be
causing the problem.

Display playlist name for radio stations is set to ON.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Ubuntu 7.10 AlienBBC mplayer Arggggh

2008-02-09 Thread markab

Hi,

I am currently trying to move my squeezecenter from freenas to ubuntu
7.10 server.

I have got squeezecenter installed and running without a hitch but I
just can't get mplayer working for alienbbc. I have read many of the
posts here that have steps for installing on ubuntu.

Basically I have done the following

sudo apt-get install mplayer

sudo apt-get install w32codecs

wget
http://www.x2systems.com/alienbbc/alienbbc-linux-v2.00beta5_7.0.tar.gz

and then sudo tar -xvf
http://www.x2systems.com/alienbbc/alienbbc-linux-v2.00beta5_7.0.tar.gz
into the /usr/share/squeezecenter directory

Then chmod -R ugo=wrx /usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins/Alien

I restart squeezecenter and alien has been added to the web page and I
can browse the stations but when I try to play a stream my squeezebox
just hangs with (CONNECTING).

As a test I went to my freenas box and ran the following command from
the shell mplayer
rtsp://rmlive.bbc.co.uk:554/bbc-rbs/rmlive/ev7/live24/radio4/live/r4_dsat_g2.ra

on the freenas box the stream starts with no problem, when I try the
same command on the ubuntu box I get

MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.1.3 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 2.00GHz (Family: 6, Model: 13,

Resolving rmlive.bbc.co.uk for AF_INET...

Then after about 2 mins the following

librtsp: server responds: 'àOPTIONS * RTSP/1.0'

The stream never starts, I think the problem is the mplayer install but
I have no idea what the problem is or how to fix. I use the gutsy
universe multiverse repositories for mplayer and w32codecs.

Does anyone have any suggestions??

[SlimDevices: Plugins] LastFM version 1.1.5?

2008-02-09 Thread Phil Meyer
A while ago I raised bug 6479 "Can't play LastFM songs that don't exist in my
library", which has been closed because it was identified that the
parseDirectHeaders
method should return '128000' for the bitrate field.

The SqueezeScrobbler plugin was returning 128_000, so I edited my copy of the
plugin to remove the underscore, and this seemed to get LastFM streaming
working again for me.

I had a look for the latest LastFM plugin on sourceforge
(http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=105780), to see if any
change had been incorporated to fix this officially. The latest version for
SC7 is listed as SqueezeScrobbler_v1.1.5.zip. However, when I open the
ReadMe.html in that zip, it is reporting version 1.1.3.

That version of the plugin still returns bitrate 128_000, and thus doesn't
work. Has a fix been made?

James made a comment on my bug report saying that internal plugins return a
bitrate of 128_000, so his plugin was just doing the same thing. Does this
mean that some internal plugins are also wrong?

I would also be interested to know what buttons you pressed leading to
the blocking.

Thanks
Felix

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Always on clock screensaver?

Thanks, I think I start to understand things. From what you say this
sounds doable, overall.

I'll try to see if I'm capable to add an enhancement request and report
back.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC on OSX users - need help to prove/disprove problem

2008-02-09 Thread whitman

Bpa and danco, I'm just wondering what exactly danco means by "passed
both tests". You did or did not hear Lennon on points 2/3? And then
what for point 4?

Thanks Danco,

Very strange - you have same version of mplayer and as user with
problem. Processors are slightly different- so perhaps there is an
difference in processor instructions sets.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC on OSX users - need help to prove/disprove problem

2008-02-09 Thread danco

Fine for me. Passed both tests. Just typing mplayer in Terminal reports

MPlayer dev-SVN-r21482-4.0.1 (C) 2000-2006 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7700 @ 2.40GHz (Family: 6, Model:
15, Stepping: 10)
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 SSE SSE2

OS 10.4.11 on the new 20-inch iMac.

I have on a few occasion using AlienBBC noticed that only one channel
seemed to be playing, but I put that down to a glitch in the
transmission.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Listen Again stops after 20 seconds

2008-02-09 Thread bpa

A similar problems has mainly appeared on Windows. The following fixed
it but it means startup of "Listen Again" takes 10-15 secs rather than
2-3. This is also true if you ffwd or rew.

1. In case you need to revert, backup the file custom-convert.conf from
the Plugins/Alien directory.
2. Edit the file Plugins/Alien/custom-convert.conf and remove the
"--bandwidth 1000" option from the 3 RTSP lines
3. Restart SC and test

Please post if this works or if problem persists

Can you also help another user by running the test in this post.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Listen Again stops after 20 seconds

2008-02-09 Thread tramsden

Hi

Suddenly about 2 or 3 weeks ago the listen again function of AlienBBC (
ver1.06) stopped working on me. The stream starts as expected but halts
after 20 seconds.

I'm using a Mac Mini ( OSX 10.4.11) and SS (ver6.5.4). Until that time
it had worked near perfect.Everything else works fine including the
Live streams from BBC7, which is my usual need for listen again. I've
just upgraded to SS ver7.0 and AlienBBC v2b5 in the hope that this
would fix it, but the same problem occurs.

Any help would be gratefully accepted.

..Tony

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeCenter 7.0 beta versions of my plugins

2008-02-09 Thread erland

I've lately felt that all my existing 10 third party plugins takes too
much time to maintain and keep developing. The problem with this is
that I don't get enough time to develop new plugin ideas and other
stuff I like to investigate.

I asked for help previously in the following thread and got some
responses from people that liked to help with bug corrections:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41583

Anyway, I've decided that since there wasn't more interest, the current
plugins will stay as they are with the current functionality and I'll
continue to provide bug corrections and small enhancements requests
when I have the time.

If someone likes to contribute and just didn't notice the previous
thread, the source code of all my plugins has now been moved to the
following Google Code project:
http://code.google.com/p/erlandplugins/

Besides the code, all previously registered feature requests has also
been moved to the Google Code project, if you are missing something
please register it at http://code.google.com/p/erlandplugins/issues

So, if any third party developer or even Logitech would like to help
maintaining, extending or correcting bugs in any of my plugins this is
now possible. If anyone is interested in getting more involved and like
some more information regarding the internals and the functionality the
plugins provide, just let me know.

I'll give svn write access to anyone that likes to contribute and also
has done some previous work related to Perl, SlimServer or SlimServer
Plugins. So if you have the knowledge and are interested in helping
with the plugin development, please let me know.

The iPeng related work I've done recently in my plugins isn't affected
by the above mentioned decision, I still plan to continue extending
this part of the plugins.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC on OSX users - need help to prove/disprove problem

Can a few more OSX AlienBBC users try this test ?

>From the responses so far - the commonly installed mplayer is only
using one channel - so what users are hearing is not mono but half of
stereo.
