Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] X10 testers wanted (BottleRocket/PowerCenter support for X10 CM11A/CM12A controller)

Nope, no real progress. The main problem is that HEYU.EXE simply
doesn't work. It'll run, it'll read the config file, but it won't send
commands to the CM11A on the specified serial port. And that's if you
don't have CYGWIN DLL conflicts.

Essentially I've decided that I've taken the wrong approach all along.
Rather than use executables like BR.EXE and HEYU.EXE, I should be using
pure Perl code. There are CPAN modules for the CM17 and CM11A
controllers; I just haven't found much time to work on switching from
the EXEs to the CPAN code (and testing that the CPAN code works OK). I
don't expect to have any time to do so in the next week, and the weeks
following might be tough, too.

If you're up for some Perl hacking, I could share what I've got so far.
There's one core routine that needs to be modified to support the CPAN
methods, and the settings need to change slightly (instead of asking
for the EXE location, PowerCenter should only ask if your X10
controller is a CM17 Firecracker or a CM11A/CM12).

Thanks Kevin!

I'll unzip the plugin and see what I can find. I'm thinking about
generating log events whenever certain subroutines are generated with
some variable values...

unzip (par is just a zip archive that adds some extra files to the

[SlimDevices: Plugins] PowerSwitch II and Norton 360 Premier Edition

2008-04-12 Thread vett93

The PowerSwitch II in my Squeezebox III stopped working after I upgraded
my 2007 Norton 360 to 2008 Norton 360 Premier Edition. Everything else
appears to work fine, except the PowerSwitch II.

I re-installed SqueezeCenter and made sure the PowerSwitch II is still
under the Plugin folder under the Server folder of SqueezeCenter. My
computer runs Windows Vista.

I also checked the SqueezeCenter web settings. Under the Plugin tab,
the Power Switch II box is checked. I also checked the Squeezebox III
and found Power Switch II is enabled.

However, the Squeezebox III still cannot output a voltage to the amp to
turn it on. It used to work correctly before I upgraded the Norton 360.

Any help will be appreciated.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] SlimNAS v0.99 won't start on FreeNAS

2008-04-12 Thread sheltond3

First, I did have a working SlimServer running under the older (non
Sqeeze center version and it worked great! I was having one issue with
FreeNAS, there is was a bug with SAMBA where it only shows a few hundred
folders in a directory where there is 600. I thought the latest version
of FreeNAS might fix this. Alas, it did not and on top of this I can't
get the latest SlimNAS running either! Argh...

OK so I am running FreeNAS version .686 on a Pentium III 500mhz. On
another note, my old SlimServer ran so much faster on FreeNAS than
Win2k! I want to keep in on FreeNAS or maybe take the leap to Ubuntu.
I am really a Windows guy just playing in a FreeBSD Linux world.

I have completed the latest install following the instructions on
http://www.herger.net/slim/detail.php?nr=1026 and I get to the final
step where SqeezeCenter should start but it won't. Instead I am left
with the message, "Failed - SqueezeCenter is not available. Please note
that it might take a minute or more for the service to be available
after a restart. Please refresh this page to check the status again."
and it never starts.

I am including the output from ps ax as this seems to be helpful in
other cases I have researched on this forum and the internet. I can't
find any log information in the var folder of the install directory.

I did have UPnP turned on, but after reading a post which said it could
have port conflicts I turned it off and restarted the entire install
process after rebooting. Also, I can't remove the SqeezeCenter
extenstion on the Maintenance tab. I get the error " (Warning:
rmdir(/usr/local/www/ext/slimserver): Directory not empty in
/usr/local/www/ext/slimserver/functions.inc on line 215 Warning: Cannot
modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at

[SlimDevices: Plugins] problems configuring IRBlaster

2008-04-12 Thread aubuti

Hi all. I finally decided to give IRBlaster a try on my living room
system, but I'm having a hard time getting it to work. I am quite
possibly overlooking something obvious or doing something wrong. Here's
the details:

SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 17793 - Debian - EN - utf8
Perl Version: 5.8.8 powerpc-linux-gnu-thread-multi
MySQL Version: 5.0.22-Debian_4
Platform Architecture: ppc-linux
Server Hardware: LinkStation HD-HG250LAN
Audio Receiver: Technics SA-EX140 (please don't laugh)

I have IRBlaster in /usr/local/slimserver/Plugins/IRBlaster/ and in the
same directory I have Technics.conf, which I populated using the
learning wizard because I couldn't find the IR codes for the receiver
anywhere. Permissions on the conf file seem fine. Here are the PowerOn
codes, and the full Technics.conf file is attached. After reloading the
Technics.conf file, the SB IR remote doesn't do anything with the
receiver. (I previously tested the IR emitter by putting it over the SB
and using the Test buttons in IRBlaster page, and am reasonably
confident that I put the emitter in the right place on the receiver.)

One more complication: PowerOn/Off don't even work with the receiver's
own remote. It used to, then one day it quit. The volume up/down
buttons work with the receiver's remote, but not with the SB remote via
the blaster.

What should I try next? Many thanks in advance.

Thanks so much, Greg. Looks like we'll have to upgrade to SqueezeCenter
7.0 since your plugin is a must have and it looks like you've (pretty
reasonably, I have to admit) stopped development on the 6.5 code branch.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Extended Alarms Scheduling

2008-04-12 Thread beaststwo

I wrote about this earlier, where some alarms configured in the Extended
Alarm Plugin never seem to happen. Since then, I've upgraded to v44,
blown away the config file (letting the plugin rebuild it, then I
repopulated it) and let it run for a week with Logging set to Debug.
I've attached my SqueezeCenter Server.log file (PDF because it's too
big to upload as text).

In the log, the last time I touched the plugin was 4/7. From that time
until the end of the log, the Fill24HrScheduler event only happened
twice outside of the 4/7 reset event. Looking at the code, the
CheckAlarms subroutine in Plugin.pm indicates that Fill24HrScheduler
should run daily or when the schedule is empty. Am I wrong in assuming
something's wrong only seeing 2 Fill24HrScheduler events in a week?

Also, is there a way to extract the .par file and run the plugin
outside it so I can insert debug code to see if SqueezeCenter is
sending it all the normal events?

Thanks!

Tim

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] X10 testers wanted (BottleRocket/PowerCenter support for X10 CM11A/CM12A controller)

2008-04-12 Thread kartman_canada

Any progress? I read a post from a couple of weeks ago that this was
"no-go for now".

1) I'm running SqueezeCenter 7.0 on Windows with a CM11A module on
COM1
2) I've installed the PowerCenter plugin 7a9 and I'm pretty sure it's
configured correctly
3) I've successfuly tested the CM11A module using the original
ActiveHome software.
4) I've enabled logging in SqueezeCenter and the plugin seems to be
trying to run the correct HEYU command on power on/off of my
SqueezeBoxes but is returning "Return Code = 1"
5) Tried heyu directing in a CMD shell and I get the following:
Version:2.1.3
Searching for '/cygdrive/c/Documents and
Settings/Administrator.INFOCUS/.heyu/x10config'
Searching for '/etc/heyu/x10.conf'
Unable to find Heyu configuration file.

Sorry if this is hard to read I'm willing to test. I appears that
the plugin is working correctly and that the issue is heyu under
windows.

with the firewall disabled. I even tried "Run as administrator".
Maybe the app could log which exact step of the connection is failing?

What is the CLI Port exactly? I ran 'netstat' and couldn't see anything
listening on port 9090.

I downloaded and installed the latest update to SuperDateTime and the
MLB game info now displays, thank you very much for the update.

As for the second part of your post, i.e any issues, yes, I still have
several other issues.

1) While the game info displays correctly (I use the NHL, NFL and MLB
features) I still cannot get SDT to scroll through the weather
forecasts correctly, as in, the way it used to work under SlimServer
6.5.4 - Note this is an issue with both my SqueezeBox and Transporter
displays.

2) On my Transporter STD with not scroll at all and the right hand side
of the display does not show any information at all, it simply shows
whatever was on the display during the most recent "Now Playing"
display. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say.

Thanks again for all you time and effort with this great plugin.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Intelligent Music Identification plugin?

2008-04-12 Thread vinnielo

No, Tunatic does not tag, it just displays the best match (which is
usually correct) - give it a go, it's free.
It's been really useful for when I've been listening to internet radio
on the PC, and has worked reliably for the worst-sounding of streams
I've come across.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 0.9 Beta forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-04-12 Thread ceejayemm

Mine too is a FreeNAS FULL installation and I also find the .pid file is
left behind in /slimnas/var. As I mentioned earlier I am also missing
the /slimnas/usr/www/services_slimserver_stop.php file which should run
when FreeNAS shuts down. Could it be that this 'stop' file clears down
the .pid file and because its missing / not happening the .pid gets
left behind ? With a FreeNAS 'embedded' version all of this would
happen in memory and so when an embedded version of FreeNAS shuts down
the .pid file goes automatically ?

Just some thoughts.

Chris

Thanks for the suggestions. I hadn't really thought of other file types, as I
was primarily thinking of access on SqueezeBox to additional information on the
currently playing track.

However, when I write a webUI page for the plugin, it could at least provide
links to open windows to show other formats.

If you're running the album browser on the same PC as SC, I take it
you're specifying the server as "localhost"? If you are, you could try
using the PC name/IP address, or even 127.0.0.1. There are some issues
with Vista recognising localhost applications.
