After reading the readme file I guess I misunderstood the purpose of the

psshutdown.exe via a .bat file called from the Execute plugin. I can run it

If you don't already, you may want to use the -accepteula option.

I run SqueezeCenter from the source code as a service. Maybe the service

Many thanks for this. It has helped me to sort out, at last, the
display on the various SBs and Transporter around my house. I seem to
lose settings when I install SC betas or revert to earlier

Nope, it doesn't. It's been removed in February. I thought we then got a mail

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Lastfm stations?

Anyhoo, looks like I'll need to make some changes. Am I able to use the

Yes. It's the CLI documentation

to SC as JSON objects, like eg.
{id:1,method:slim.request,params:[,[serverstatus,0,999]]} to get

If you made changes to you slimscrobbler.prefs file you may have to

Yes - The RealAudio streams and Listen Again are not geolocked in
general. Only R1-R4 WMA streams are geolocked to UK.

There are a few other UK only restricted programs where there are
broadcast rights issues such as live sports commentaries, some program

In theory yes but unlikely in near future as
1. I came across in BBC streaming network standards for audio reference
to the need to provide streams that UK representation (e.g. trade,
diplomatic) abroad can use (i.e. low speed).

2. NPR changes over to Flash and dropped Real from main web but all of
the programming is still available in RealAudio format

The reference to BBC upgrading the Radio internet services in April/May
was for UK only and although details are not available it looks some
new formats will not be immediately usable by SB (e.g. multistreams) so
ironically even for UK users of SB - RealAudio may be the format of
choice.

My guess is BBC would hope for a natural decrease in usage of live
RealAudio as users migrate to the better quality service. The main
issue would be Listen Again as it may be too hard/costly to maintain
in dual formats.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with Dynamic Playlist Plugin

2008-06-05 Thread soxfan

I love the Dynamic Playlist/SQL Playlist plugins for the ability to do a
random mix and exclude certain genres. In a lot of cases I tag my songs
with multiple genres (ie Rock and Live), so this works great when I want
to have a mix of rock songs, while excluding live tracks.

However, despite the fact that I use these plugins all the time I've
been living with a couple of issues for a while now, so I finally
decided it was time to report them.

First, when I make a change to the include/exclude genres it will not
immediately take effect. The only way I can get the change to take is
to restart Squeezecenter.

Second, after playing the random mix for a while I will start getting
brief pauses (5-10 seconds) during playback. When I look at the server
during these pauses I see the mysqld process taking up 90+% of the CPU.
After a few seconds mysqld goes back to normal and then the
squeezecenter process jumps up to around 40-50% of the CPU for a few
seconds, then things return to normal and playback kicks back in. This
cycle will repeat itself every five songs or so.

Could you enable the logging in SqueezeCenter Settings/Loggings by

check if you get new entries in the log from Dynamic Playlist at the

syntax usertags/[username]/[tagname]. But all I get is Lastfm Error
Detected!!! This doesn't surprise me too much - I often get that with
globaltags stations as well. I have a feeling only subscribers are
meant to listen to these stations, although sometimes you can sneak
through.
I still have the problem in SC on the Lastfm page where the gray
background bar completely blacks out what I'm pointing at. Have I got
an old bit of kit here somewhere? I'm running SC 7.0, and
Lastfm/SqueezeScrobbler is only a couple of months old (1.1.6 I think)
Thanks all!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with Dynamic Playlist Plugin

2008-06-05 Thread signor_rossi

I am also experiencing some hiccups in playback with dynamic playlists
form time to time. SC-7.01 on Kubuntu and Dynamic Playlists 2.0.beta09
now, but had these problems also months ago with other versions.

Will see to upgrade to beta10 and to provide some logging info.

Bye, signor_Rossi.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with Dynamic Playlist Plugin

2008-06-05 Thread soxfan

Isn't it enough to just restart the playlist ?
Or do you like to change the genres without interrupting the music ?
It doesn't matter if I am playing music or starting fresh. If I go to
the screen to enter playlist parameters it shows the settings that I
last used. Let's say I have Rock and Blues selected as genres to
include and Live and Bootleg selected as genres to exclude. Now I
want to just listen to a Blues set, so I uncheck the the Rock box.
Then I click Save or Save and Play; it doesn't matter because either
way the playlist that I start playing still includes songs that are
Rock (and yes, I've double-checked to make sure they aren't tagged as
both Rock and Blues).
When does the pause happen ?
When the last song is about to end or in the middle of the song ?
Which version of Dynamic Playlist plugin are you using ?
It happens right in the middle of the song. If it happened when a song
was ending I could probably live with it easier, but having songs
interrupted time and again gets a little annoying after a while. I am
currently using version 2.0 beta 11, but this issue has been happening
for a few versions now. I think the last time it worked without any
hiccups for me was back in the 6.x days.
Could you enable the logging in SqueezeCenter Settings/Loggings by
changing plugin.dynamicplaylist to Debug. When the logging has been
enabled, play some music and when the music is paused the next time,
check if you get new entries in the log from Dynamic Playlist at the
 same time.
I'll get logging enabled and post some results.

By the way, thanks very much for all your great plugins. One of the
reasons I've been hesitant to post about these issues was that I didn't
want to make it sound like I was complaining. I really appreciate all
your efforts.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AudioReview and Biography for new remote controls ?

2008-06-05 Thread Michael Herger
I installed AlbumReview and Biography from this thread and I have menu
entries for them on my controller.
For AlbumReview it is impossible to enter the menu and the Biography is
 empty.
Am I doing something wrong ?

Not sure. That applet is _very_ rough, and I know it's not always workin fine.

Does the plugin work in the player UI?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Weather feeds for Duet controller?

2008-06-05 Thread judge404

I've tried weathertime and superdatetime for SC7.X so that they will
display on my Duet controller, but neither one does. Are there any
weather plugins available yet for the Duet controller?

Thanks.

SuperDateTime has some very rudimentary controller support, it's kludgy
but it basically works. Look under Extras on the main menu. I don't
know of a native applet for the SBC but it would be neat as a screen
saver or something.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Weather feeds for Duet controller?

2008-06-05 Thread bpa

You can use an BBC Weather RSS feed by adding it to Infobrowser - this
will give a 3 day forecast. Nothing graphical though.

The basic URL is
http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/weather/feeds/rss/5day/world/1769.xml

In this case the city is London code 1769.

To find other cities use BBC website
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1769

Type in location name in the Search box bottom right. When forecast
comes back look at the URL and the city code will be at the end.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Help:Multi Library

2008-06-05 Thread LABM

I am not able to perform the following instructios with current version
web interface squeezeCenter, thank you.

Creating library for classical music
To make it easier to differ between classical music and non classical
music we need to start by creating a virtual library for the classical
music.

Classical library

Got Multi Library in the web interface
Select Create new library and then select the library type Standard
library
Change library configuration parameters:
Library name: Classical Music
Include genres: Mark Classical
Included internal menus: Deselect all checkboxes
Show in home menu: Deselect for now
Click Next and enter filename: classical.ml.values.xml
Click Save to store the library
Non classical library

Got Multi Library in the web interface
Select Create new library and then select the library type Dependent
library
Change library configuration parameters:
Library name: Standard Music
Excluded contents of libraries: Select Classical Music
Included internal menus: Deselect all checkboxes
Show in home menu: Deselect for now
Click Next and enter filename: standard.ml.values.xml
Click Save to store the library
It doesn't really matter how you define your libraries, we have choose
to identify classical music by a genre called Classical in this
example, but you may want to identify it by a number of genres or by
entering one of the directory parameters.

The only thing these library will do in this example is to make it
easier to have different information in the song details menus and
pages for classical and non classical music.

No reason to be afraid to report bugs, this is just another way to
contribute if you can't contribute by developing plugin code yourself.

soxfan;309192 Wrote:

With the pausing issue, I turned on the suggested debug option and
closely watched my system while playing. Every time the music paused
mysqld CPU usage would jump to 90+% (as I mentioned before) and just as
the music resumed I would see an entry in the squeezecenter server.log
 like the following:

Ok, this means Dynamic Playlist is causing the problems, as you already
suspected.

soxfan;309192 Wrote:
Also, as I mentioned I'm doing this from work a lot of times, so maybe I
haven't paid that close of attention before today, but I originally said
the pauses happened every 5 songs or so. It is actually happening every
4-5 minutes, so depending on the song timing it happens almost every
 song, or every other song.
I hoped the change I did in beta11 would have solved this issue, but
obviously it doesn't in your case.

Could you tell me a bit regarding your setup ?
- Do you have a large library (number of tracks, genres) ?
- What hardware are you running SqueezeCenter on ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Problems with Dynamic Playlist Plugin

2008-06-05 Thread soxfan

Could you tell me a bit regarding your setup ?
Sure...
 - Do you have a large library (number of tracks, genres) ?
Yes, I have what I consider a fairly large library. Squeezecenter is
reporting 1720 Albums, with 20941 songs, by 746 artists. As far as
genres, when I first started ripping my CD collection whatever Grip (my
ripper of choice) populated the genre field with I left alone. However,
after a while I felt that most of my collection fell under either Rock
or Blues, and tagged my music accordingly (sometimes with both). If
the CD is live material I will add Live, Bootleg, or
OfficialBoot to the tracks, depending on the source. That's about
it. So, while my current list of genres shows 36, most of my
collection falls under one or more of the genres I listed about.
 - What hardware are you running SqueezeCenter on ?
The Squeezecenter server has an Athlon XP 2400+ (runs at approx 2
GHz), with 1 GB of memory. The system also acts as a MythTV backend
server, handling recordings, scheduling, etc. However, the system is
usually pretty idle.
