Yes but I use *both* auto brightness and auto display so this workaround
is not really ideal. It certainly works as an inteirm fix but I would
like my Squeezeboxes to behave as before. :(

And in future versions of SqueezeCenter, it is very likely that auto
display will not only be the default, but you won't be able to choose a
manual setting.

I've just posted a version of AutoDisplay that works with auto
brightness (and adds support for FuzzyTime, though FuzzyTime is NOT
required!). Look for the latest AutoDisplay zip file (currently
AutoDisplay-0.91p.zip) here:

I don't know of a way to switch a payer over to SN and then turn it off.
Once the player switches, it's out of the local SqueezeCenter's (and
any plugin's) control. Can you experiment using the CLI to switch your
SB3 to SN if it's already off first and see if it remains off?

Hmmm, now I understand... it makes sense... once switched to SN there
no connection to the SC. No wonder it has not been implemented. Given
those two commands can not be sent to the SB3 in one shot, can you make
the 15 Second wait before the SB3 switches to the SN configurable? This
way if one sets it to 0 Sec one can right-click to switch the SB3 to
the SN, put the server to sleep and by pressing power, immediately
after, turn the SB3 off.

 Hi Alan,
This has been reported a couple of times. There seems to be some

As I don't have a Mac it isn't for me to do anything about this.
 Patches suggestions welcome...

 James

For me it seems to work just fine to comment out the following line in
the function _searchiTunesMac:

Code:

#OSX iTunes seems to store some accented characters as 2 characters
  #this function should recombine them
  $fileLocation = Slim::Utils::Unicode::recomposeUnicode($fileLocation);

I have tested with the Norwegian letters (æøå).
I suppose it could be more stable call recomposeUnicode for both
$fileLocation and $iTunesLoc instead, but I have to not played with
that.
I run everything on latest OS X 10.5 version, and iTunes 7.7.

Sure enough there's now a pop40/pop in the Grenoble forecast for
the next few days.

Ok - now how do we get WeatherTime updated to grab this data? I'll see
if I can get in contact with the author to ask him for an update.

that's very good news. The feed was mostly down today here in germany

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.1 for SqueezeCenter 7.1+

2008-07-16 Thread Michael Herger
Save you're settings - and wait another few seconds (or minutes) while
 SlimNAS is installing SqueezeCenter

Firefox tries to refresh the page and and gets stuck at Loading... I
have tried restarting but that doesn't fix it.

How long did you wait? The message says it could take _minutes_.

I am running an older FreeNAS (.684b) and wondered if that could be
part of it, but I could find no requirements for FreeNAS version in the
documentation. I guess the next step is to try upgrading FreeNAS, but I
am loath to do that before I check to see if anyone has a suggestion.

I'm not sure this is the problem. My dev machine is pretty old too, while
the test machine is well up to date.

How comfortable are you on the command line? I'd rather try installing it
from the command line than update FreeNAS...

One clue, top shows cp to have been running now for 6 hours:

Ok, that's more than minutes :-(. Please kill that job, open your SlimNAS
share and go into squeezecenter. Is ther another folder called
squeezecenter in there? And in there another one? (you guess it: and so on)

Also, I should mention that the instructions explicitly tell us to be
sure that the SqueezeCenter installation bundle is set as .tar.gz (step

Ouch... that's no longer valid. This should be .tgz. Will change this
immediately. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat album stats problem

2008-07-16 Thread Phil Meyer
Hmm, I see that clicking TrackStat icon on the currently playing track displays
all songs on the album within TrackStat. I wasn't expecting that (assumed it
would only display TrackStat info for the song).

Some other observations:

If I click on Show All, and then choose Not Rated Songs, I see all songs
not rated for the current album, which I think is ordered by Playcount, and
then ordered randomly? If I click to play all songs in the list, the songs
appear sorted in a different order (both in TrackStat and current playlist).
Over time when the TrackStat frame refreshes, the order changes.

The TrackStat Now Playing information frequently doesn't seem to get updated.
I have to refresh the frame when song change events happen. eg. if I click
play on a different song in the current playlist, or delete the currently
playing song.

I sometimes see -- after an entry in the TrackStat songs list. eg. 9. Fire
On The Mountain by Tangerine Dream from Views From A Red Train --. I
thought at first this was to signify that the song was currently playing, but
that doesn't seem to be true.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.1 for SqueezeCenter 7.1+

2008-07-16 Thread benshead

Thanks for your reply, Michael. It is reassuring to hear that FreeNAS'
version shouldn't be the problem.

I left for work after writing the last post, so was not able to kill cp
until I got home. I found, however that it had stopped on its own and
Firefox had finally loaded the services_slimserver.php page. That page
was giving the error about not having SqueezeCenter installed AND an
error that there was no valid version of SqueezeCenter in the
/mnt/Share/slimnas directory. I took a look and found that in fact the
whole slimnas directory was gone. poof!

I wasn't able to look in the squeezecenter directory to see if the
never-ending directory nesting had occurred this time, but I had
noticed that the first time I tried this install, so I expect that had
happened...

I then restarted FreeNAS and now services_slimserver.php returns a 404.
Mysterious!

I am relatively comfortable on the command line and actually had
executed slimnas-install.sh over ssh the second time that I tried this.
If there is more that I should do, please describe and I will do my best
to follow. I wonder whether something odd is happening with
permissions.

Anyway, thanks for your willingnes to help!
