[SlimDevices: Plugins] SoundClick plug-in?
Not sure if it would strictly require a plugin, but I'm imaging that it would. If anyone is familiar with SoundClick.com - they are like the old mp3.com. Artists can upload music and you can listen/buy. It would be cool to browse through the various charts, artists, etc. using the Squeezebox and be able to play. The music is played using some shockwave/flash player in pop-up windows in JavaScript. I am running SC/Multiple Library on a NAS device (QNAP) running linux. While trying to configure my first library I get an error, as follows "Error: No custom dir configured" I cannot find a custom dir parameter to configure per se but on the Included Directory 1, I do have the top directory where I have the related songs. I often get 2 hours of listen again without problems, and 4 or 5 hours of live streams. Instead of creating a new library you should first goto "SqueezeCenter Settings/Plugins/Multi Library" and point the "Library directory" parameter to a directory where SqueezeCenter has write access. Instead you have access to weather/scores/stocks data via the extras menu. I haven't played with Lau yet. Lau is the programming language used to develop native Controller/Jive apps. Top on my list is to dive into Lau and look into creating a native SDT Screensaver. There's a lot of potential there but there will be a steep learning curve. If you have previously renamed files it could be that the old installation contains TrackStat entries that aren't connected to the database. The backup operation take backup of all TrackStat entries while the restore operation only restores the entries where it finds the song in the SqueezeCenter database. The restore operation also happens in the background, so it's important to wait until it is finished, you will get an entry in the SqueezeCenter log when it is. If you install Database Query plugin in both installations and select the "TrackStat Statistics" query, you can compare the numbers and see if there are any entries missing in the iMac installation. I did not rename files but just browse and select the latest trackstat database file. I have yet installed Database Query plugin, will install it soon. How long is the restore operation normally? Hi Greg: I tried using the newest version (1.5.0b1) of your plugin (old one worked fine) on Linux (Ubuntu 8.10) and I can't get anything to play. No errors in the log, but nothing plays. Squeezeslave is a simple player, similar to SoftSqueeze, but without any GUI. I use it as a player on my PC, since I can run it in the background, and it doesn't use many resources. It isn't 100% compatible with all streams,however (I've gotten "chipmunk" sounding internet radio streams - I think because they stream at different rates that squeezeslave doesn't support). I just installed the 1.5.0b1 version on my Windows XP server, and it works against my version of Squeezeslave. (I'm running SC 7.3). HOWEVER, I don't seem to get any stream data (song titles)... this is also true of the "now playing" view. Ive tried reinstalling, rebooting, redoing the settings but I still cant get XM to show up on the Duet. I can do every thing in Squeezecenter. log in and out, browse stations, play. Unfortunately, I simply can't get SDT working in SC7.3. I've added the link in the Extension Downloader, but on the Plugins page it still says: SuperDateTime Screensaver (v5.5.1) Displays local time, date, weather, sports, and stocks information. Plugin is incompatible with this version of SqueezeCenter. Please update. I found it from Settings then Information, the log file is stored at /Users//Library/Logs/SqueezeCenter/server.log. I downloaded the latest version of SDT and finally got it working on my iMac. Thank you for resolving whatever issue existed with the prior version that caused me to lose SDT for almost a year. I am grateful! Two issues come up when I activate the program: - The "settings" page has no identifiers for the different preferences ( guessed the second box was the "city" preference and it worked). - when activated, the screen on my slimserver displays the weather BUT there is a line of about 9 uppercase "A"'s overlaid across the screen that prevent me from reading the weather. I came on board during 7.2 and at one point had XM working very well, but never have I been able to select XM in the menus on my controller. If I started XM on SC, I could then operate it from the SBC. One thing for sure about the XM plug-in, everyone experiences something different, which is apparent if you read the thousands of threads about it. Since I'm running 7.3 I don't even try any more. Just in case you're nuts (as I am) SDT does work with 7.4 and the SBC firmware 7.4_r3507. Plus all of the Music Services icons are back to normal. Haven't had time to try much else.
