I have tracked down the URL for Newshour and it is
"http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/meta/tx/nb/newshour_au_nb.ram";. This
looks quite similar to prior versions of the url.

Pls let me know if you need any further info to help track down the
bug.

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2009-01-26 Thread erland

All my plugins are now available in versions that support 7.4 nightly
releases.

See Extension Downloader or my download page for more information about
the changes.

NOTE!
They can still be installed the old way, but if you run SqueezeCenter
7.3 the recommended way is to use the Extension Downloader in
SqueezeCenter settings.
Use the repository url listed here:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeCenter_Repositories

NOTE2
If you are using Windows Vista, install manually and get errors when
unzipping the plugins, you may need to install the hotfix:
http://support.microsoft.com/KB/952249

If you are a developer that want to make sure my plugins are
continuously developed, please see this thread:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41583

If you are a normal user that want to help:
- Post bugs whenever you find them, either in the 'issue tracker on the
google code site' (http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/) or in '3rd
party plugins' section of this forum.
- Help updating the information about these plugins and related
tutorials on the 'Slim Devices wiki site'

As usual the plugins are available from my download page for people
that don't want to use the Extension Downloader:
http://erland.isaksson.info/download
(If you are using 7.3 it's preferable to install through the Extension
Downloader in SqueezeCenter Settings instead).

The documentation about the plugins is now stored on the Slim Devices
wiki site but can also be reached through my own wiki:
http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer
(If you find an error in the documentation, please update the text on
the wiki)

2009-01-26 Thread gharris999

OK, I've posted the new version of SCPowerTool at the head of this
thread.

Adrian: thanks for that improvement.

I've changed the link options so that msvcrt is no longer statically
linked in. This reduces the exe file size, but users will need
MSVCR80.dll ...which I think most users have on their system. You can
test just by running SCPowerTool.exe with no parameters. If it
displays its about box, then you're good. If you get an error message
complaining about MSVCR80.dll being missing, you can download it from
Microsoft:

BTW above messages don't change if SC is an non-interactive service or

Yeah, InitiateSystemShutdown is a legacy function. MS say applications
should now use the InitiateSystemShutdownEx function, and I see your
point about needing a custom reason code added.

BTW on Windows XP Pro, I get

Code:

following reason: No title for this reason could be found

I hear you, but disagree. I have written "stickeys" for other forums
and have been gratified about how many people have expressed
appreciation for my effort. You may be expert enough to do all you
need with the existing documentation, but I am not - in spite of 20
plus years of using computers. Many Duet users could benefit from some
simple educational outreach -- if I knew how to do something why would I
not share that information with someone else? As it exists, much of the
wiki is written by experts for other experts. Logitech needs to make a
serious effort at upgrading their documentation. For example, how can
I use the SD card slot in the controller - if I can -- not to mention
the interface on the bottom of the remote?.

Ardiran: what does your System event log show with SCPowerTool using
InitiateSystemShutdown? I tried using InitiateSystemShutdownEx with a
reason param of 0. This is what gets posted to the event log:

Code:

Is this similar to what you're seeing?

There doesn't seem to be a easy way to flag the reason as "planned"
without writing a custom code into the registry.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] alienbbc "connecting..." indefinitely

2009-01-26 Thread bpa

The Roku problem is unlikely to be the same as this thread unless it
happens when trying "Listen Again" streams.

The Roku has an Squeezebox emulation problem - if BBC doesn't respond
within 6 secs it will hang. I used to have a Roku and wrote a patch for
SS6.5.x - you may have been using it.

Changes in AlienBBC using "bandwidth" with mplayer means most "Listen
Again" streams now start within 6 secs so should be no problem. Live
streams are now at 64kbits/sec which makes them border line. Reducing
the mplayer cache size defined in the conf file might make it work at
the expense of possible rebuffering problems (which again will cause
roku to hang).

What you need to do is open port 554 from PC to Internet.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Help with CustomBrowse menus for Composer/Conductor

2009-01-26 Thread Mark153

Hi Erland,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I think I have figured it out on my own after reading some of your
replies to other users with similar issues.

Basically I've created a modified version of 'Custom Tags Album' XML,
which enables alpha and adds a third row to the
SQL query - substr(customscan_track_attributes.valuesort,1,1) - to make
the alpha links work. This gives me the desired result, but if you can
come up with a better way of doing it in a future release then that
would be great!

My biggest frustration at the moment is having to add composer names to
my ARTIST and ARTISTSORT tags in order to be able to search on them in
SC - if only SC would use COMPOSERSORT and CONDUCTORSORT by default, it
would make life so much easier for us classical collectors.

Anyway, here's my custom XML for making a 'Browse Albums by Conductor'
menu, with the CONDUCTORSORT field used as the sort order...

Nah... what would I do with it? I'll just sleep on it for another 2
years. Whoops, got to update that blog :-)

Anyway forgive me, I've been having a fiddle with your SCPowerTool.exe.
A little feature mod request perhaps?

I run SqueezeCenter as a service on Windows 2003 Server and as such
there is often no interactive user logged in. Unfortunately the call in
-SetPowerState- to 'ExitWindowsEx' is ignored in this state.

I've modified mine to use 'InitiateSystemShutdown' instead with the
following.

Code:

  case POWERACTION_SHUTDOWN:
  if (!InitiateSystemShutdown(NULL, L"SCPowerTool SHUTDOWN", 0, TRUE, FALSE))
  lpAppData->dwError = GetLastError();
  break;

  case POWERACTION_RESTART:
  if (!InitiateSystemShutdown(NULL, L"SCPowerTool RESTART", 0, TRUE, TRUE))
  lpAppData->dwError = GetLastError();
  break;

Seems to work OK at present, but dunno yet if there is a downside to
using InitiateSystemShutdown with interactive (and also VMWare Server)
sessions present.

How does your "Custom Tag" configuration in the "Custom Scan" settings
page look like ?

If you have entered that you like to scan a "CONDUCTOR" tag I think
that might cause the problems you are seeing. I think standard
SqueezeCenter scans CONDUCTOR tags, so if you also scan them with
Custom Scan you will get duplicates if you have entered a tag name in
the "Conductor tags" field in the "Mixed Tag" configuration. If this is
the situation, I think the correct solution should be to remove
CONDUCTOR from the configuration in the "Custom Tag" scanning module.
You will need to perform a rescan of at least the "Custom Tag" and
"Mixed Tag" scanning modules before the changes take effect.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] alienbbc "connecting..." indefinitely

It's a b-box 2 (not b-box2). Here's a link (in dutch) that refers to it
and port forwarding:
http://www.userbase.be/forum/viewtopic.php?p=276285

I'm now try to read forums in dutch using google to translate the
pages---it produces some interesting results, but generally seems to
work.

I'll try explicitly forwarding this port to the box running
squeezecenter.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] alienbbc "connecting..." indefinitely

The mplayer test is a direct test of network which means the problem is
either ISP or modem.

Some modem still apply strange Application-gateway behaviour on low
security levels.

I can't find any ref to a "b-box2" modem - possibly an ISP rebranded
unit. Look at the label underneath for a model number.

The top level menus aren't removed until you restart SqueezeCenter, let
me know if restarting SqueezeCenter doesn't solve the problems.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] alienbbc "connecting..." indefinitely

2009-01-26 Thread daudi

The modem/router is a "b-box 2" VDSL.

Unfortunately I made the move here, updated squeezecenter and alienbbc
all in one go so I can't say which change has caused the problem. I
also suspected port 554 from reading other posts, but I switched the
modem security to low, which allows incoming and outgoing traffic, and
still had the same problem. I assume that this is the same as opening
port 554 (but could be wrong).

It looks to be a router issue blocking 554.

Was alienbbc working on the exact same system except for the modem ?

What is the model no of the router / modem ?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] alienbbc "connecting..." indefinitely

2009-01-26 Thread daudi

Hi,

I had alienbbc working fine in my old house a few months ago in the UK.
I've moved to Belgium and have my things out of storage. I have setup my
system again, upgraded the software:

squeezecenter Version: 7.3.2 - 24695
Alien BBC (v2.4a4-7.3)

I deleted the previous alienbbc plugin and reinstalled via the web
interface.

mplayer is reported as being installed.

When I try to connect the controller reports "Connecting..."
indefinitely and no sound comes out.

Searching a little on this forum led me to this code to testing
mplayer:

Code:

mplayer -v -bandwidth 1
rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk:554/radio4fmcoyopa/radio_4_fm_-_friday_1415.ra

When I try this the last part of the output is:

Code:

Playing
rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk:554/radio4fmcoyopa/radio_4_fm_-_friday_1415.ra.
  get_path('sub/') -> '/home/dave/.mplayer/sub/'

  Filename for url is now

  Resolving rmv8.bbc.net.uk for AF_INET...
  Connecting to server rmv8.bbc.net.uk[212.58.251.75]: 554...

And then it just sits there. I have a vdsl wireless modem/router from
belgacom. I also read somewhere that port 554 needs to be open. I have
tried setting the router to minimum security (accepts incoming and
outgoing traffic) and this did not help.

Any ideas what to try next?

Thanks.

David

The plugin does not create any file - that looks like a file I
suggested to use when debugging (see the wiki entry for WaveInput).
Delete the file. If it returns then it is likely some of the plugin
files have been modified.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2009-01-26 Thread NFLnut

I had this plugin working a couple of months ago, now nothing ..

I haven't added any new hardware to the computer.

I haven't added any new audio software to the computer.

I confirmed I have "stereo mix" selected, and verified that there is
sound coming from the audio card by plugging in a pair of headphones.

I verified the sound card is chosen by running the "wavin2cmd.exe -l"
commend, and verifying that my audio card is chosen (at "wavin:0")

I DID notice that the plugin is creating a "audiocapture.wav" file, but
still no audio from the sound card via the plugin.

Why can't I get this working again?

A sticky is a waste of time. If the information isn't all in the Wiki,
then it can be added and edited by anyone that creates an account. That
is the whole point of wiki's

The best way to hide relevant information is to put it in a forum

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Installation Sticky??

2009-01-26 Thread chenrikson

I really enjoy my Duet, but have been only partially successful in
installing various third-party plug-ins. I have checked out the Wiki,
but the instructions there are not clear enough for my foggy brain.
Can one actually install a plug-in (a game, for example) into the Duet
Controller, or are you accessing the game thru SC as is the case with
some other plug-ins? If the answer is yes, how - specifically - does
one do it?

There is a lot of information on the web about SB and the Duet, but it
doesn't seem to be all in one place (eg. here, the wiki and the
Logitech site) and the discussions often assume considerable
familiarity with the software and hardware. Cryptic abbreviations (eg.
SC, SBC, etc.) are also a problem, IMHO. Anybody up for writing such a
sticky? Will the Mods put it in?

Actually, patches aren't recommended at the moment. I'm currently
rewriting OtherPlayers in order to implement the previously discussed
changes and have made a lot of changes to the way the ui works under
the bonnet. The controller code may also change significantly, so it
would probably be a waste of time for anyone to write code against the
released version. I will take look at adding volume control as part of
this work, so watch this space.
