Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-04-06 Thread ian_heys

I found this:

"The fchownat() function shall be equivalent to the chown() and
lchown() functions except in the case where path specifies a relative
path. In this case the file to be changed is determined relative to the
directory associated with the file descriptor fd instead of the current
working directory. If the file descriptor was opened without O_SEARCH,
the function shall check whether directory searches are permitted using
the current permissions of the directory underlying the file descriptor.
If the file descriptor was opened with O_SEARCH, the function shall not
perform the check."

here

http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/functions/chown.html

Which seems to me, to confirm that relative path issue.

fchownat and lchown are not installed on my Ubuntu and are not
available in Synaptic.

What do you think?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-04-06 Thread ian_heys

Thanks for the new script Gordon.

I can't actually use it as I don't have the rest of the Plugin until
you repost it.

Strangely I have Virtual Box installed on my home PC (not my music
server) to run those pesky Windows Programmes that haven't yet got a
linux equivalent with the same functionality -it's much better than
Wine and quite legal if you retain your old Windows XP licence. But I
haven't built an Ubuntu VM on it yet.

However like I said in a previous post I'm not really technical enough
for that sort of thing and with the British Summer coming up I really
would like to get out of the house a bit more.

Please be sure that the relative path issue was the cause of my
problems and don't rely on my fault reports too heavily.

"Top rated Songs by artist" selects the 50 top rated songs, it doesn't
exclude low rated tracks if you have less than 50 high rated tracks.

I will consider adding an option to make it possible to exclude tracks
below a certain rating in these playlists.

Would it be possible for you to enable "debug" level logging of
"plugin.trackstat" in SqueezeCenter Settings/Advanced/Logging ?
When you have don this, run an iTunes import and post the complete log
or the section of the log that handles the track with a ' in the name.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-04-06 Thread flynn

I just bought 1.0.5 from the app store and I'm a little worried...

I can consistently crash iPeng just by browsing around Artists or
Genres etc. - typically it will take anywhere from one or two clicks
(ie. getting to an album) to 5 or 6 clicks (ie. going to an album and
coming back out). I've rebooted the iphone, rebooted SC, what else can
I try?

Is this because my library is too large for iPeng (which worries me
because I haven't setup SC to see my entire library yet)? What size
library has it been tested with?

Here is my current SC statistics:

Total Tracks: 17,690
Total Albums: 927
Total Artists: 120
Total Genres: 16
Total Playing Time: 1198:41:12

I'd like to help debug this. Let me know what I can try.

I have the same problem, are you using 7.4? I've also noticed that
"snooze" only works once for each alarm session (the second snooze acts
as if it's just playing a regular playlist and shuts down the SB after

Gordon,
quite unbelievably I am very busy these days, so I can't create a
scratch VM install and test the scripts.

I am sure setting to the script dir is a good thing, but then again, I
doubt this can be the root cause of Ian's problem. How on earth could a
chown "delete a user" ?

I am still questioning the sudoers edit. Whacking sudoers could lock-up
a user account I guess (more likely than I chown, methinks.)
Looks like using visudo ensures protection against concurrent access
during edit and file integrity after edit. Google knows more than I do
on this. I quickly found this thread, for example:

Mike,

Thanks! I got it working after a reboot. Initially, I thought closing
and opening SC was enough. Do you know how many lines of information I
can display on a Boom. I'm going to setup the information I want
displayed. Ideally, Time, Date and current weather (temperature) can be
displayed without scrolling or using the up/down arrow.

Also, are there instructions? I assume the codes on Line 1 & 2, 3- and
the Line 1&2 format string (display 2) require something to separate
them.

Thanks,

  touch /etc/shutdown.allow
  echo 'squeezecenter' >>/etc/shutdown.allow

#Tell sudo that the squeezecenter user has permissions to run these commands..
  echo 'squeezecenter ALL = NOPASSWD: /sbin/shutdown*' >>/etc/sudoers
  echo 'squeezecenter ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/pm-suspend' >>/etc/sudoers

>>/etc/sudoers
echo "squeezecenter ALL = NOPASSWD: $TRG_SCRIPT_DIR/screstart.sh"

  echo 'Done!'

The crucial missing bit that I've added is the instructions for the
script to change directory to its own dir.

Again, sorry to have caused you so much grief! And thank you again for
pointing out my error...which is surely deserving of inclusion in the
annals of the "Big Book of Small Mistakes".

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguzeq settings page blank

2009-04-06 Thread Fertilizer

I had the same problem, but looking at the bottom of the empty screen
you can see Sqeezecenter looking in another folder. Solved it by
placing the Inguz files into that folder:

C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\HTML\EN\settings

Creating:
C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\HTML\EN\settings\plugins\InguzEQ
etc.

And removing them from:

C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server

When adjusting on the controller, the steps are very tiny. Try
adjusting in SqeezeCenter, you might even adjust up to + or - 9Db to
get some noticable difference. I did with my Bose Companion 5.
It works great!!

Hope this works for ya.

Yikes! Thanks for pointing this out!

I used the relative path in order to make setting up the plugin easier
for folks running SqueezeCenter from SVN code, which could be installed
anywhere. "../../." means: "set permissions starting at the parent of
the parent of the current directory." I assumed that that path would
be calculated from the script's location and not the working directory
of the shell. Had I added a...

cd /var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl/scripts/Debian

..to the script, I would have saved you all this bother.

My very, very, very bad.

I'm very sorry to have wasted so much of your time.

I'll modify these scripts immediately!

2009-04-06 Thread Bison8

Hi there, just got my touch and one of the first things I did was to
install ipeng to enjoy control of my Boom and V3.

1. Can you clear something up for me, when I click to add (+) a song to
my playlist:- instead of adding it to the end, it randomly puts it in
the middle of the playlist... is this me or is something wrong?

If I choose to play it next (>l) it works fine.

2. The artwork only appears on the now playing screen and not when
browsing - I use AVG, is this a problem due to that or just the size of
library?

3. Lastly, for now, I have a large library (approx 60,000 tracks) when
I start up the app on the touch it takes some time to load in the
artist screen etc. Is this something that I will have to get used to?
I am new to iTunes and have just set up my SqueezeCenter to use the
iTunes library rather than looking in the directory that the music is
stored on (both K/music) thinking that may be quicker but have not
noticed any difference.

Thanks

You can try to change the -host- parameter in the musicip.prefs file.
But it's unlikely to work unless both machines use the same absolute
path names for your music, and the same character set for encoding file
names (I had no success so far between my Linux SPARC-based NAS and my
Mac).
And be aware it'll take ages to rescan your collection this way...

When you start iPeng the first time (and after changing SC's library)
iPeng caches Artist and Album data. This is what causes the delay and
for a larger library this can take a few minutes.
Artwork on the browse menus will only show up when the caching is
finished to keep the server load lower.
Please note that the cache will only be saved to the (iPod's) disk when
the cache synchronization was finished to avoid saving corrupted data in
case the transmission went wrong.

So I would recommend to wait a few minutes until the artwork on the
browse screen shows up (and the "Albums" menu is complete). After that
the data will also show up faster on a restart.

iPeng 1.1 will be much faster with larger libraries (at least if you
use SC 7.3.2 or newer) and the process will be a bit more transparent,
hopefully Apple approves it soon.

Using 'Genres/Sub genre 'I get an SQL error. Does anyone have any idea
how to solve this?

The error message:

tracks.id = genre_track.track join multilibrary_track on
tracks.id=multilibrary_track.track and multilibrary_track.library=1 and
join customscan_track_attributes as attr1 on tracks.id=attr1.track and
attr1.module='customtag' and attr1.attr='ALBUM' where genres.id != 5
and exists(select * from genre_track where genre_track.track=tracks.id
and genre_track.genre=5) group by genres.id order by genres.namesort
asc got error:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds

Thanks!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2009-04-06 Thread Quad

Approximately in 1/3 of the attempts to start SC automatically at login
CustomBrowse fails to load with the following log (XP only, OSX works
all the time):

Stopping and restarting SC manually helps most of the time. Do I have
to change permissions myself somewhere or could this be a little bug?
Thanks for advices!

I use an SB1 for MLBGameday but the file type is a wma stream that
needs to be decoded for the SB1 by the server (e.g., mplayer on Linux
OS). Check your settings for wma under server settings>advanced>file
types.

Are you able to listen to other wma streams (internet radio) on the
SB1?

What do you mean by "cleared cache"? You only need to use "Flush Cache"
if for some reason your cache gets out of sync with the server, iPeng
will then reload all the cache data.

Apart from that, yes, it should start faster now.

No, it's a good question.
On iPeng 1.0.5 if you go to standby iPeng will go to sleep, shut down
all connections and not drain any power. I recommend that since it will
come up faster after you disable the screen saver since it doesn't have
to request all states from the server.

1.1 will have an OPTION to keep the communication link open, but it
will be disabled by default.

Yes, it will be a free update, however I cannot give you a firm date
about when it will show up. It was submitted to the App Store two weeks
ago but is still pending approval.

In that vein, when I have selected the tracks/albums I want I then
click the touch into standby - with a click on the upper outer button.
Will the ipeng stay connected draining power? What do you recommend -

I found the problem why pressing "add" did always inserted the whole
album into the list instead of only adding the actual selected song.
It was "custom browse". Somehow this plugin overrides the functionality
and so it always added the whole album. I deactivated this plugin and
now the SB adds only the selected song. Perfect :-)

There are settings for the plugin in 2 different locations: player and
server. The place where you select your teams is in the server
settings which are found in the web UI under SqueezeCenter Settings.
Then there should be a dropdown to select SuperDateTime.

Hope that helps.

Google is a good place to start.

I used Album Art Aggregator but because of the mistakes I wrote
FindArt. It seems Album Art Aggregator is not easily found now and this
thread came up with other suggestions
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=52597

Compatibility with SC is not really an issue as it only has to save a
file in the album folder that SC recognises such as cover.jpg or a name
that matches the Settings/Advanced/Formatting/Artwork setting. So the
problem will probably be more finding an app. that suits your music
filing organisation.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Alarm restarting after timing out

2009-04-06 Thread SumnerBoy

Hi - I have an alarm set on my bedroom Receiver for 7.55am which times
out after 60 mins, and another alarm on my kitchen Boom for 8.00am
which times out after 90 mins. The alarms fire as expected and then
shut off after timing out. However about 12 mins after they time out
both devices turn back on and resume playing the alarm playlist (in my
case an internet radio station).

I have turned on debug logging for the alarm plugin and can see the
alarms firing and timing out, but there is nothing in the logs to show
them re-firing 12 mins after shutting down. Which leads me to believe
this is possibly not due to the alarm code - but I can't think what
else could be causing this.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? What other logging can
I enable to check this? NB: I definitely only have the two alarms.

Help!?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] plugin browse menu help request

2009-04-06 Thread wharfrat

erland:

I now have the controller menu working, but I'm stuck on two problems:

1. How do I make an entry appear in the Internet Radio menu?
Is the node 'radio' or 'radios'?
Is there something special to make the icon appear?

2. Using jive::sliceAndShip I have a two menu items that both work -
display a list of genres, and display a list of channels. I want to
select a genre and have it display a list of channels for that genre.
On this second click, it goes to the channel menu routine and makes a
list of channels just fine, but nothing appears on the controller menu.

Do I need to purge or reset something so that one pick list can lead to
another pick-list?

Thanks for your help,

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Lyric plugin picking up song title incorrectly

2009-04-06 Thread jartill

I am running Squeezecenter 7.3.2 on Centos with 2 squeezeboxes
attached.

When using the Lyrics plugin I noticed it repeatedly wasn't returning
the right lyrics. I noticed that this depended on what my Title Format
was on my player - essentially it appears that the submission to Lyric
db is using the title format on the Squeezebox and not the actual title
tag.

I have not set it to simply 'Title' and all is working well but very
strange! Any advice?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-04-06 Thread ian_heys

I'm having major problems with the second line of the install script on
Ubuntu 8.10 and the latest version of SrvrPowerCtrl.

"#
/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins/SrvrPowerCtrl/scripts/Debian/srvrpowerctrl-setup.sh"

I'm executing this as root as per the instructions further up the page
but it is removing the default user on the PC and leaving only the
squeezecenter user with an unknown password and I can no longer use the
PC after executing this instruction.

This has happened twice and required a reinstalltion of Ubuntu to
recover on each occassion.

Fortunately I have a dedicated server and my music is backed up but I
have now spent about 8 hours recovering from this scipt.

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm not a linux expert and I don't understand the script - but I have

If I execute the script from the command line is the relative path
relative to the script directory or the command line?

I understand that chown -R squeezecenter:nogroup means change the

Thinking about my situation - almost everything on my PC became owned
