[SlimDevices: Plugins] Macintosh

2009-10-09 Thread rksingla

I asked a question on this topic many months ago to no avail. I thought
I would try again.

I have SqueezeCenter 7.3.4 running on a ReadyNAS with 4 separate
receivers/booms around the house. Is there a Macintosh front end that
will control SC and be more responsive and have a better feature set
than the web GUI? Seems to me there should be an application that can
download all the cover art and track info and then issue commands to the
SqueezeCenter server. I was thinking of something like Moose or Jim's
Jammin Jukebox. I read that the latter is in Java, but I could not
figure out how to make it work on a Mac.

Any advise/help would be appreciated.

I say they have an L3 switch or a DNS that balances the load among a
bunch of servers. Configure the gateway to take out of service part of
the nodes, wait for the current connections to end, update, restart, and
reconfigure the gateway to be able to upgrade the other ones.

Something like this, anyway. I'd like to visit the factory, and have a
word with the watchman :)

My slingshot CLI script still works with SC7.4 and mySB (for the
"do-not-switchback if playing".)

What I've seen that didn't work was (is?) getting the list of alarms
from mySB, the JSON alarms query was hosed. AndyG has fixed that "in the

One of these days I'll update the snstatus.pl script I posted a while
back to mysbstatus.pl script; just a few touches here and there, still
ugly.

No sound probably means you need the additional libraries (these
libabriues are included in 7.4)

The libraries can be installed using the download found here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647&displaylang=en

Regarding WMA via iPlayer - they used to work but recently some BBC
feeds via iPlayer have been dodgy. I personally prefer using the WMA
URLs directly from Radiofeeds rather than using iPlayer which has
UK/non-UK selection which omits links sometimes.

Outside of the UK - for Listen Again there is no MP3 only AAC so do NOT
disable AAC.

WMA is only available for live streams - again because you are outside
of the UK I would advise to test using the Radiofeeds menu or the
Internet Radio/More Radio/BBC.

If you are running a very clean XP with no MS apps installed it is
possible there are some libraries missing for faad which is used for
AAC.

As a test can you play the following AACplus stream through the WebUI
"Tune-in"

[SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iplayer silent on SB3

2009-10-09 Thread Sb42

I'm running SC Version: 7.3.3 on Windows XP with 2 SB3 classics. It's
all been working fine for a couple of years and I happily run Alien BBC
v2.6b1-7.3

I decided to try installing the iPlayer plugin v0.9d as advised by BPA.
It installed happily, and the menus are available - when I select an
item to play I get no sound. This happens with both Live and Listen
Again. I tried Radio 1, Radio 2, and Radio 3 - same result.

I'm outside of the UK

any suggestions as to what may be the issue?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-10-09 Thread pippin

There are already tickets for all of this.
The issue with the unconnected player is the hardest one since you need
the setup protocol for this and I'm still not sure this can be done on
iPhone. I plan to try it, though.
The one with the toolbar has two parts.
The simple one is the bug that prevents removing the menu item when
connected to SC, that's already fixed and will be in 1.2.1, the longer
story is that you should be able to have server specific toolbars.

And then: you can mute by doubleclicking the volume bar.

Sorry. I'm only now beginning to make the next version of SrvrPowerCtrl
into something that will be 7.4 compliant. It could very well be that
this functionality (ability to reconnect a mysqueezebox.com connected
player to the local music source via the CLI) is a function that's been
"lost" in 7.4. If so, hopefully, we'll be able to convince the
developers that this is a 7.4 bug.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll definitely be testing this and I'll
report back here if I file a bug request on this.

SrvrPowerCtrl's current mac scripts fully support both sleep (aka
suspend) and hibernation. I didn't feel as though it was my place to
judge the efficacy of either method. As long as the hardware and OS
supported it, I'd offer it. My mac mini hibernates really well and I
can certainly think of instances where I'd want to use it...perhaps not
as the default on-idle action, but at least as an optional,
discretionary action...you know, to appease my windows inflicted
insecurities. ;-)

Please try to get the Extension Downloader to work as failed manual
install are very hard to debug especially on non standard systems. What
problem do you see when you use the extension downloader.

For example I have no idea what you are referring to by "i've imported
it by extra tool in Squeeze server"

Please be specific and give details about what you are doing and what
messages are displayed as that will save a lot of time.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm remote keys not working with 7.4

2009-10-09 Thread mortod

With SC7.2 I had configured three remote keys to send love/hate/skip
commands to last.fm, ie in slim Devices Remote extended:

pvr_menu= 7689c43b
thumbs_up   = 768924db
thumbs_down = 7689a45b

and in Custom.map:

pvr_menu= modefunction_PLUGIN.LastFM::Plugin->lastfm_skip
thumbs_up   = modefunction_PLUGIN.LastFM::Plugin->lastfm_love
thumbs_down = modefunction_PLUGIN.LastFM::Plugin->lastfm_ban

I copied these files over to the 7.4 install. Any reason why they no
longer work?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.9.99 for Squeezebox Server 7.4.1+ / FreeNAS 0.7

2009-10-09 Thread Michael Herger
(don't read any further if you're not willing/trying/wanting to run Squeezebox
Server 7.4.1 nightly or later)

Happy to announce that for the adventurous FreeNAS 0.7 user there's now a new
SlimNAS beta to play with. New features include:

- simplified initial installation: if no SBS archive is available in the
install folder, SlimNAS will provide a direct link to the latest SBS release

- support auto update download: SBS will automatically download updates when
available (if auto downloading is enabled - see Settings/Advanced/Software
updates in SBS web UI)

- provide links to downlaod pages for Squeezebox Server and SlimNAS updates

- code cleanup: removal of some legacy code should speed up the SlimNAS admin
page

- smaller SlimNAS package

The most important change isn't a new feature, though. As of SlimNAS 1.99.9 (to
be v2.0) you'll need to install the regular tarball instead of the noCPAN
version. Previous versions of SlimNAS came with all the modules required to run
SBS. As we updated dependencies in SBS I had to update SlimNAS every time,
breaking backwards compatibility etc. Eg. bug fixes in 7.4.1 break
compatibility of SlimNAS 1.5 with the latest Squeezebox Server. What a pain!

Thanks to my fine connections to the Squeezebox development team (thanks Andy!)
we're now including those modules required for SlimNAS with the regular tarball
archives. Thus whenever you update SBS you should get the updated modules for
SlimNAS too.

The latest SlimNAS 1.9.99 beta can be downloaded here:
http://www.herger.net/slim/slimnas-1.9.99.tgz

Please follow the general instructions on http://www.herger.net/SlimNAS.

Get the latest Squeezebox Server 7.4.1 from
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.4

Download the "Squeezebox Server: Linux Compressed Tarball" version.

Have fun! And let me know about any trouble you see...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-10-09 Thread antoinath

I confirm my previous post.
Once manually switch to mySB.com, I see my player on iPeng.

Then if I start my computer and mu SB server, it adds on the other
music sources. And here I can switch between mySB.com and SB server.

So the request is : when previously connected to SB server and then SB
server stopped, detect the players and be able to connect them to
mySB.com

Please tell me if I can log a bug on trac for taht, or if I missed
something in iPeng use !

bye.

(note : I detect a bug about the toolbar during these tests, I will log
a ticket for this too)

I reinstalled Mac::AppleScript::Glue and the iTunes updater worked, but

Something about not finding a Mac.applescript.03.tar.gz or some such,

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz and 7.4

2009-10-09 Thread rbl

I installed 7.4 over 7.3.3 on my old XP Pro machine and Inguz worked
fine (I just had to copy the plugin and inguzdsp files over). However I
have now reformatted that machine and upgraded to Vista, and I get the
errors described above. For some reason when I go to squeezebox
settings->advanced->filetypes there is no option to select InguzDSP as
the filetype anywhere. All the menus appear correctly on the player and
in the web interface.
Any ideas anyone? This seems more like a vista/inguz thing, than a
squeezebox 7.4 thing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-10-09 Thread antoinath

I pippin,

I have a little problem with iPeng, please tell me if I need to open a
ticket on trac.

I don't always have my computer (with my personal collection) on.
So I often switch between Squeezebox server and mySqueezebox.com

I have a problem with iPeng to switch my player when my computer is off
because iPeng don't see my player (a squeezebox classic)

Here are the facts to reproduce :
- I use iPeng with computer On and Squeezebox server, listening on my
SB Classic
- I turn OFF my SB Classic
- I turn OFF iPeng
- I turn OFF my computer (and so Squeezebox server too)
- I turn ON iPeng and I wait on the "server" page
=> Nothing appears. I can't see my SB Classic to turn it on, and then
switch it to mysqueezebox.com

I think that once switched manually my SB Classic to mysqueezebox.com
(using the SB remote), if I launch iPeng, it find correctly my SB
player, (and I can switch it to SB server if it is on again). I need to
check this.

So iPeng should detect a player previously connected to SB server even
if SB server is OFF, to allow using and controlling this player with
mysqueezebox.com

Am I right ?

My gut feeling is that a problem on that level would disable all
Internet Radio, the issue here is that some work, some don't. I should
have stated that better in the original post.
My thoughts were more going in the direction of the nature of the
stream, and would thus be a decoding issue rather than a network issue.

Once I'm back home I will post a reference to a working station as well
as a non-working station. The one that is failing is streaming RealAudio
and WindowsMedia, which stream Radiotime picks is unknown to me.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-09 Thread Innocence

I've got a batch script running on a Windows XP "server". Server has
SqueezeBox Server 7.4, but without SrvPowerControl plugin.

The batch script uses SCCLITool to query the player:
SCCLITool power ? -t -w 0

If it discovers the player is powered off, it moves the player to
mySqueezebox.com:
SCCLITool power 0 -t -w 0
SCCLITool connect .mysqueezebox.com -t -w 0

When the player is no longer connected to SqueezeCenter, (and no other
networking services are required - server is also a fileserver), the
server goes into Standby.

This part works fine, and it's basically what I used SrvPowerControl
for.

However, the SqueezeBox Duet no longer seems to send a WOL signal, so
my server no longer wakes up when I turn on the SB remote or SB receiver
:( This worked fine with SqueezeCenter 7.3+SrvPowerControl.

If I send a WOL packet to the server from another PC it wakes up
normally, so I know that part is still working.

Do you have any idea why this isn't working when I'm using SCCLITool?

I notice that once I've move a player to mySqueezeBox.com, the
SCCLITool can no longer interact with the player - only SqueezeCenter
itself can connect it back to the server. Any way to fix this?
