[SlimDevices: Plugins] SQL Playlist error

2010-01-26 Thread Chunkywizard

Hi Erland,

I just made the attached playlist and it doesn't work. Specifically, it
is not ignoring songs with the excluded words in comments. Any ideas
why? It always plays 5 star songs, and i'm pretty sure it doesn't play
songs great than 7 minutes and doesn't repeat songs within 2 weeks.
Sorry the file is zipped but the board doesn't like .xml files.

Cheers

CW

Could you try how it behaves on MySB? I don't run a 7.4 right now.
Also: thus is iPeng 1.2.1, not 1.2, right?

Yes, currently on 1.2.1. Will give MySB a try this evening when I get
home.

Not sure if this has been asked for before, but is it possible to have a
Landscape Mode for iPeng?
It might help in displaying long song and long album names, which
currently get abbreviated in the middle.

iPeng is a wonderful app. It works very well and is very easy to use.
The only problemI have is with long titles. Any ideas?

When is the next release due? What updates are planned for the next
release?

Yes. That's something else.

First: What I meant with this comment is that a lot of people don't
UNDERSTAND that their player can be connected to either one or the other
server.
From a pure user perspective this is not a particularly obvious concept
and I would love to see a way around it. I have some ideas but no really
good one, yet.

On your issue: That's pretty clear :)
You use 7.5 beta, players 7.5 (currently) reports under
MySqueezebox.com are indeed connected to test.SN.
iPneg, however, REALLY moves you to MySB if you switch servers and also
if you move a player (I believe you have to switch servers to be able to
move a player to MySB with iPeng under 7.5
iPeng itself is NOT switched to test.sn, it uses the production MySB.

If you want access to test.SN, you can add
www.test.mysqueezebox.com
as a server in iPeng. It will not show players while NOT connected
(they are shown under MySB) but you can use it and if you switch to it
you will also see your players. Will be a bit of a hybrid since it shows
the main menus (Albums, Artists,... they are non-functional) but does
work.

If they are, you probably have a playlist file for each album. It might
also be that the playlist directory in SBS Settings points to the same
directory as the Music Folder.

I hope that's helpful... you're sure you dont' want to try the XML
feed? While I understand the above doesn't have anything to do with the
parsing, it's entirely likely they have the servers that provide the XML
feed differently provisioned from the ones that provide the web pages.
Just a thought...

Greg - I've noticed two things with this update in the few days I've
been running it. In the long-range forecast, it seems to mix up metric
units and American system units. I've got everything set to metric so
that it reports in Celsius and km/h. But, sometimes I'll notice in the
long range forecast, snow accumulation will be reported in inches as
opposed to cm and things like gusty winds will be reported in mph
instead of km/h. The wind one is interesting as I've seen it use both
units in the same long range forecast.

Other than that, it's been fine and updating properly.

 Obviously this is unwanted behaviour.
SrvrPowerCtrl is not a whole-scale replacement for your system's power
management facilities. SrvrPowerCtrl doesn't know (or try to know)
anything about other processes running on your server. It really was
designed to perform power management tasks on a dedicated, stand-alone
SBS server.

SrvrPowerCtrl does include facilities so that you can temporarily block
it's power savings actions. You can block these actions before you
start a job that shouldn't be interrupted by using the [srvrpowerctrl
setblock blockmsg viacli] cli command or by creating the file
c:\windows\temp\spc-block. You can incorporate these commands into a
batch file that launches your sync job and then clears the block once
the job has completed. These mechanisms are documented in the
SrvrPowerCtrl readme.txt file.

Also, with the latest beta code, look in the
InstalledPlugins\Plugins\SrvrPowerCtrl\scripts\Windows folder for
example batch files for setting and clearing blocks.

My conclusion is that there are a few alternatives which have potential
but there isn't anything that's finished and read to use.

So if some third party developer is interested to give it a try...
Even though I wish Logitech would do something in this area I suspect
they feel they don't have the resources at the moment, at least not in

Edit: That didn't help. Is there a cache I can clear somewhere?

A SBS restart should help to remove anything that's cached.
There is a refresh link at the bottom of the Custom Browse web
interface, that refreshes all menu templates. If the refresh link solves
the problem there is a bug somewhere because you shouldn't have to use
that.

I think there was some change how playlists where handled in the
database between 7.3 and 7.4 so there might be something I've
interpreted incorrectly.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SQL Playlist error

2010-01-26 Thread erland

You can only enter one word, if you enter several words it will exclude
comments with that sentence. Does it explain why it doesn't work ?

If you customize the playlist SQL you might be able to make it work as
you like by having several like directives (one for each word)

On a less than perfect library, with 7.3.4 this is easy to reproduce:
random play just stops when it hits a file it cannot open. It does not
skip to the next file. Player idle-sleep.
Happened to me more than once, and I don't use srvPowerControl for idle

I have to say, I didn't look in the logs since I run 7.3.4, which is
frozen. Reporting a bug would make no point.

But, I have seen the following: when I wake up the server, go in the
web interface and select the player that stopped, I can see the playlist
that was being played before the machine went to sleep.
If I hit play, it plays the last tune that could play, and hitting next
once comes out with a message like problem loading song xxx (on the
web interface, and on the SB3 screen). And the player stops.
Selecting the song below the culprit and hitting play restarts the
music.

As I am stress-testing a machine where I moved files around a lot, and
don't rescan often, I have quite a few files that are not where the DB
expects them. This problem even bit me once on an alarm...

Just when you wipe the database itself (ie, remove the stuff in the
folder named 'cache').

(I dislike the name of that folder, it's not really a cache in the
traditional sense at all...)

I do a clear-and-rescan every night, and Trackstat stays happy. (It
uses the 'persistant' table to keep its data across clear-scans.)

please enlighten me how to choose IP and port for my squeezebox Duett?

I thought I was smart enough to use nmap to identify the IP and

Tried a bit with wireshark to learn something from the packets flying

enlightening either.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] CustomScan - Reading MediaMonkey custom tags

2010-01-26 Thread jpo

I'm using MediaMonkey to write custom tag information to my MP3 files,
and I can't get CustomScan to read this information.

MediaMonkey supports custom tags, and according to its documentation,
the custom tag information is stored in a tag called
COMM:Songs-DB_CustomX, where X is a number from 1 to 4 (I'm just using
#1).

I've tried to get CustomScan to read this information by including
COMM:Songs-DB_CustomX in the Tags to scan field, but it doesn't seem
to be working.

When I looked at my MP3 files in Mp3tag, they are showing a tag called
COMMENT SONGS-DB_CUSTOM1. Note this differs from the MediaMonkey
documentation in three ways:

1. COMMENT vs. COMM
2. Space vs. colon between COMM/COMMENT and SONGS
3. Tag is showing as all-uppercase in Mp3tag

I've tried configuring CustomScan (in the Tags to scan field) with
various combinations of COMM/COMMENT, space/colon, and uppercase vs.
documented case, all without success.

Am I missing something simple here, or is there something with the
syntax of the space or the colon in the tag name that is causing
problems here?

An alternative is that you enable debug logging on plugin.customscan
in SBS Settings/Advanced/Logging and see if you get any more information
in the server.log when you perform a scan with the Custom Tag scanning
module in Custom Scan. I don't remember if it will log the actual tag
names, if it doesn't the extra logging won't help you.
