Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2010-03-06 Thread neilcoburn

When I press and hold the play button on the remote, a MusicIP mix is
generated and plays, but the player screen doesn't show the mix (nor
switches to Now Playing), but instead stays on the album I selected the
track to mix from. Is there a fix for this? I'm sure it didn't used to
behave like this.

Many thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPod touch - what size for iPeng?

2010-03-06 Thread Chunkywizard

8GB will be fine. The actual app is 1GB and this is flash size we are
talking about so this doesn't affect performance. Even if you do fancy
loading on some music then you don't need the size of your library in
flash. The way I look at it is if the battery lasts 24 hours then you
need less than 24hours music loaded on it. You have to charge it then so
you might as well dock it and you can change the music loaded on then
through smart playlists. I used to have a 1GB Nano and found that just
fine in terms of storage.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeScrobbler: not appearing in controller

2010-03-06 Thread raboof

After a reboot of the controller the 'Internet Radio' menu now shows the
Last.fm option.

My 'personal' radio stations show up twice, but that's not really a
problem.

I was puzzled for a while that selecting a station with the center
button just results in a 'bump' animation - you have to use the 'play'
button instead.

In other words: this seems to work fine now! (still no actual audio,
but that's another thread)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPod touch - what size for iPeng?

2010-03-06 Thread pippin

Size doesn't matter. No matter how much you cache, you will not fill 8
GB.
The App is 3.5 MB uncompressed and caching: 22,000 Tracks times 4KB
(which is on the high side) is 100MB. But you don't have a different
artwork for each track, so it's more like 2.500 albums + a few thousand
images from online services so probably even 20MB.

There are two things to consider:
- You should prefer a 2G iTouch over a 1G model because the 2Gs have
volume keys you can use with iPeng. Yet I thing 1Gs will be hard o find
these days anyway.
- The 3G model (current units =32GB) is faster than the 2G model
(current units = 16GB) which speeds up iPeng startup form 5s to 3s and
makes for smoother scrolling. Operation of the App itself will be the
same since the speed is determined more by server response times than
the App itself.
Other apps, especially games and browsing do profit from the faster
model.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SqueezeScrobbler: not playing Last.fm radio

2010-03-06 Thread raboof

Ok, I should have read above thread more closely - indeed setting
settings-player-audio-'mp3 streaming method' to 'proxied' fixed
playing Last.fm audio.

So it works: awesome!

It might be a good idea to make canDirectStreamSong in
Plugins::SqueezeScrobbler::ProtocolHandler always return false: that
way, the default can remain 'direct' for other streams, and user will
not need to find and change this option anymore.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Am I the only subscriber to Classical.com?

2010-03-06 Thread Ikabob

I have asked many times about problems (see earlier thread in this
forum) that I am having with Classical.com and I receive no responses on
the forum. I am starting to think that I am the only person who has
subscribed to this music service. I really like the service very much
WHEN IT WORKS, but it seems to have outages very frequently and very
infrequent responses to help. I was just wondering if I am alone in my
subscription to Classical.com and if there are others who do subscribe,
are they having the same frequent outages too? I have a whole year for
my subscription and I do not think it is quite fair to expect so much
down time without some sort of explanation and some consideration to
add some time onto my subscription expiration date.

Anyone on the forums actually subscribe to Classical.com? Any problems
like I am having? Thank you.

Just thought I'd give an update: I took a new box, did a brand new XP
install, installed MiP 1.9b and SBS 7.4.2. It worked great--until I
used shortcuts in SBS--then the same problem. I uninstalled everything,
and tried MiP 1.8 (the last public release I believe) with the exact
same results. I can only assume there is something I'm not doing
correctly--although how one screws up creating shortcuts is beyond me.
I have it working with both the MiP GUI and headless and no SBS
shortcuts without any issues.

The one consistent issue is that
http://127.0.0.1:10002/api/songs?extended has never worked with me.
Even when MiP is working great with SBS (when SBS is not using library
shortcuts). Other than stopping and starting the MiP service, is there
anything at all accessible to me that would let me
troubleshoot/configure/do anything at all about this?

Barring an answer to that last question, I give up at this point.
Hopefully SBS allows multiple physical paths to be scanned at some
point. Until then...

I do appreciate all the help I got in this thread--I'm just sorry I
couldn't make use of it.

Sure. Files are attached (hope this works) One is for the Yamaha
RX-V1800, and the other is for the Yamaha RX-397. I didn't have time to
change the descriptions and other explanations. Also, for the
RX-V1800's power on command, I'll need to add a few more 'pauses'
between the two consecutive Memory 1 commands because the second one
occurs too soon--the RX-V1800 is still too busy powering up and doesn't
see the second memory 1 command. It's a very minor fix which I'll do
later this weekend.

YES, you are the only subscriber which is way they had to let their

I am not to surprised you are having trouble. I signed up for the free
30 day trail and after listening and enjoying one whole day of free
classical music service (which I liked and decided I would probably
subscribe), the service was unavailable the next day. I sent an email
asking why it kept saying my 30 day free trail was over and the response
I got back was that I had used my 30 days.

Funny, I don't remember losing a month with no memory of my life or
sleeping for 30 days straight. That kind of experience made me glad I
didn't sign up.

It would be interesting to start a poll of who actually is using
Classical.com and not having problems.

Also, have you had any issues downloading your two free albums a week?

Sorry for this as it seems to be a listed bug with only 4 votes!? I am
a bit confused about how this works... Is the best thing I can do to
have this work is add a 5th vote?

Just checking, thanks!

So I'm clear, iPeng is about perfect but for this. Thanks for the

You have not given any info on your SBS server such as SBS/SC version,
SSODS version, NAS model and processor type - SSODS is a special system
and SSODS 4 omitted some plugins.

If mplayer is installed - then I suggest leave any conf file as
distributed and install playWMA plugin.

Theres a lot of music on youtube. There have been released a player
called Muziic who playes youtube music. Where you can search and arrange
playlists and so on.

This functionality would be great on squeezebox. Of course you could

Thanks for answering Iphone. In answer to your question, I have not
tried to download their 2 albums yet. I do have many playlist albums,
just cannot play them. You are right though, it does seem like they only
have 1 employee. I guess that I am an optimist so I am going to stick
with them for a while. I do like thereusic selection and I also think
the sound quality is good...even though it is listed at only 128 kps.
Maybe a present subscriber will chime in.

It does not seem in Logitech's best interest to support and endorse a
music service that is not reliable. So, I am hoping that Classical.com
will honor their obligation to their paid subscribers. I think they
will.

Hi bpa;
yes, lame should be installed, as it is part of the SSODS package. (And
FlipFlip confirmed it.)
How can I verify correct installation?

As for WMA - MP3, it says WMAmplayer.sh/lame in the settings.

Note: I also tried to change wmamplayer.sh to pinpoint it to the
install location of mplayer. So I changed the following:

elif [ -x /usr/local/bin/mplayer ] ; then
app=/usr/local/bin/mplayer
...
to:
...
elif [ -x /volume1/SSODS4/bin/mplayer ] ; then
app=/volume/SSODS4/bin/mplayer

Would that be ok?

(It did not help, though)

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't get MusicIP to work on my Windows 7 box

2010-03-06 Thread ModelCitizen

I've been running MusicIP successfully on Windowes for years but have
recently upograded to Windows 7 and now can't get SqueezeCentre to get
mixable status at all. Any suggestions would be welcome.

All my stuff is on one machine (library, MusicIP, SqueezeServer), so no
shortcut or networks. Music 1.9b6 is installed and has scanned my
library. I have 25k+ mixable tracks. Tags have been written to files.
GUI/Preferences/Server - connection test is positive
Gui/Preferences/Services have no services checked (API, TIVO or uPNP)

The server is running on port 10002 and starts as a service (verified
by http://localhost:10002 web page connection test and MusicIP Server
process seen running in Task Manager).

My SBS MusicIP plugin is enabled and set to only read mixable status
from MIP with reload time set to 0

Windows 7 firewall is not running.

I've tried full SS rescans and re-installed MusicIP (1.9b6) but to no
avail.

Bringing up http://127.0.0.1:10002/api/songs?extended in a web browser
shows a blank page with no indication anything is happening (have waited
15 minutes or so).

Any suggestions how I might get my Ms back?

Cheers.

MC

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

2010-03-06 Thread ModelCitizen

I just can't get Now Playing to work correctly.

I have Custom Clock Settings/Replace Now Playing set to
PlayWithCoverAndClock
and
Screensavers/When Playing set to None

When I play some music I see PlayWithCoverAndClock but after and the
default Logitech NowPlaying screen kicks in.

Not sure if it has any relevance but I have a self-made low light
custom clock set for the Off state and have played around with the Now
Playing settings a fair bit to no avail.

BTW. I'd quite like to have a Now Playing screensaver that uses the
default Logitech Now Playing large graphic with only the time (large
text) and alarm (smaller text with bell icon) superimposed over the top.
Sort of clean and simple but with time viewable across the room and
alarm viewable from the bed.

I've played around adapting the JSON stuff but screw it up every time.
Does a screensaver anything like the one I describe exist?

Thanks.

I've also been toying with the idea of getting an ipod touch and while
iPeng is the main attraction, if I'm going to justify to myself spending
that much, I want it to be more than a remote for my SBs, albeit a
super-funky one! I'd like at least for it to be a decent mp3 player but
I've come across quite a few reports that its sound quality isn't great,
which I find a bit offputting. I'd welcome any comments on this. (I've
maybe been a bit spoilt in this regard as I still use my iRiver H140 and

has been.)

The other aspect of the Touch that interests me is as a way of
accessing the web and email. How usable is it with such a small screen
and no keyboard?

Finally, is it really necessary to use iTunes with it? I had it

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't get MusicIP to work on my Windows 7 box

2010-03-06 Thread matthijskoopmans

This could have something to do with the UAC in Windows (7 and Vista).
Check the MMM.INI file in the MIP program directory, there should be an
entry like this: cache=C:\Users\your user
name\AppData\Roaming\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\default.m3lib

Another thing could be the order in which the MIP and SBS load. There
is a registry fix which you can download from SpiceFly's website.

I hope this helps.

The 1G was really bad, the 3G is much better (don't have a 2G, just an
iPhone 3G which is the same platform and is similar to the 3G iTouch)
although I doubt it could rival a Squeezebox.

Never cared too much about the audio quality of an iPod.

For browsing and e-mail it's actually very, very usable, I'm using it
all the time. I do 90% of my reading on this forum with the iTouch or
iPhone and like 50% of the writing. Actually I find keeping up with this
forum on it much easier than using the browser, but that's mainly due to
the Tapatalk forum reader app.

The virtual keyboard is not great but acceptable. Can't rival a
Blackberry but it's OK for shorter messages.

iTunes is a real drag yet you need to use it, I think, at least for
setup and to get music onto the device. No idea whether there are hacks
for the latter using jailbroken iTouches.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Custombrowse CLI

I'm trying to access trackstat information through the custombrowse CLI.
I have a basic understanding of the query from the wiki, but although I

It looks from the web interface that perhaps I need to go further to

narrow the selection without knowing ahead of time what the possible
values are?

I hope I'm missing something easy; any help is appreciated.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Custom Clock applet for Touch/Radio/Controller

default Logitech NowPlaying screen kicks in.

 Thanks.

Hey MC, is this at all what you were looking for? It's got a 24 hour
clock, has the coverart of the now playing album in the back, and has
small alarm icon and alarm time. It's based on erlands built-in
Digital Clock (lightly shaded cover). Do you prefer 24 hour time or
12 hour w/ AM/PM?

Also, I think for good now playing screen, you have to setup the
screen you want as both the when playing screensaver and as substitute
for now playing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custombrowse CLI

2010-03-06 Thread erland

I'm sorry, it seems like I've mislead you earlier.

The Statistics (TrackStat) menu in Custom Browse isn't offered over
CLI, you will only get the first level and it feels like a bug that you
even get that. This is also the reason why the Statistics menu isn't
available on the Radio/Touch/Controller interface within the Custom
Browse menu, it's only available as separate menu.

If you are able to use JSON instead of CLI, there is a trackstat
browse and trackstat statisticsjive JSON command available, this is
what's used to render the TrackStat menus on the
Controller/Radio/Touch.

If you enable debug logging on network.cometd when using a
Controller/Radio/Touch or desktop SqueezePlay, you will see how the
commands look like. When using the JSON interface over telnet it just
displays things like HASH(0x1053c288) so you won't be able to return
the structures.

If you know some perl, the implementation is in the jiveBrowse and
jiveStatistcs function in Plugins/TrackStat/Plugin.pm. If you provide a
patch for a working CLI interface I'll consider including it in a future
TrackStat version. It's probably possible to base it on the current
implementation in the jiveBrowse and jiveStatistics functions, just
flattening the result before returning it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can't get MusicIP to work on my Windows 7 box

2010-03-06 Thread ModelCitizen

Thanks for your reply Matt.

I have set SqueezeServer service to Delayed Start in Services, which
should have the same effect as the Spicefly registry fix.

However I think the problem is that there does not appear to be a
mmm.ini anywhere on my PC (according to my manual delvings and a Google
desktop search).

The good news is that C:\Users\My
Name\AppData\Roaming\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\default.m3lib does exist.

I can't explain why MusicIP 1.9b6 does not seem to have created an ini
file in it's own Program File directory (or indeed any other directory
on my PC) and therefore how the Music IP server and GUI are working.

I might try adjusting and installing the ini file displayed on the
Spicefly site later (or perhaps installing an older version of MusicIP).

BTW. I have turned the annoying UAC off for my (admin) account and have
set Folder and Search Options so I can see all files and directories on
my PC.
