Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hi I hope someone can help with this as I love Ipeng and I really want it to work. When I tried Ipeng on my friends squeezbox I was very impressed and could not wait to try it out on my Squeezebox classic at home- it worked perfectly first time. First it would not find the server and when I typed in the ip address of the PC if found the squeezebox.com and continually tried to load the albums. WHen I used it at my friends i used the music folder option , but this has now vanished. does anyone have any clues ? Umm. These are two things, you are aware of that? You should see both servers on the MultiPlayer screen in iPeng. A PC should really be found automatically, was your iPhone connected to the WiFi network? WHen I used it at my friends i used the music folder option , but this has now vanished. This usually means you haven't configured a music folder for your library but only use e.g. iTunes integration on your PC. You set that through the server's web interface under Settings-General. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I've gotten as far as creating a utility app for linux/gnome that will inhibit suspend for a given length of time and getting ReallyPreventStandby to call it periodically. I'll start working on the OSX stuff next week. But, I think the real answer to your question will be this: we'll need to hook the sleep event in OSX at the operating system level. I don't know of a way to do this within a SBS plugin. So, we're talking about using an external system utility. At least one person has written such a utility: http://www.bernhard-baehr.de/. Mr. Baehr's SleepWatch daemon (referenced on that page) along with a change to SrvrPowerCtrl ought to do the trick for you. The change I'll need to make is to add a new CLI command to SrvrPowerCtrl: something like a getnextwakeuptime request. This will allow an 'onsleep' script called by Mr. Baehr's SleepWatcher daemon to query SrvrPowerCtrl for the correct time to program the system for wakeup. That combination ought to meet your requirements nicely. Adding a getnextwakeuptime CLI request to SrvrPowerCtrl will be trivial and I'll make the changes to my code in the next day or two. It may be some time before I update the beta repo with a new SrvrPowerCtrl package, so I may just post a version here for you to try. Gordon, thanks for this. Jigstart is #!/bin/bash osascript -e 'tell application Jiggler to launch' and jigstop is #!/bin/bash osascript -e 'quit application Jiggler' My other option is to get wake on wireless lan working - in which case the SB Radio should be able to send a WoWlan command to the server 5 minutes before the alarm. Irritatingly WoWlan is only working intermittently, probably because I don't have the necessary Apple Airport router and am using a Linksys. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Looking for help with Custom Browse
Erland Isaksson is the author of that plugin and regularly contributes to this forum. He is the final authority of plugin details. I will try to help you. I struggled with this plugin several times (and giving up) before finally figuring it out. I'd start off by mentioning you will usually load other plugins by Erland to work alongside Custom Browse. I use Custom Browse, MultiMenu, and Custom Scan. The dialog you show is obtained by creating a new CustomBrowse menu. Go to the server admin page and click on the Advanced tab. From there you choose the popup menu that shows advanced settings for various plugins. Select Custom Browse. The custom browse page has yet *-another-* popup menu that chooses from sections within custom browse. You want that popup to say *Manage Menus.* From there, find the link that says *Create New Menu.* Then you will see a bunch of templates for various types of menus. The particular screenshot you listed resulted from clicking a link for the Filtered Deep Albums template listed there. I am not 100% sure of the last comment because I deleted most of my templates. I hope this gets you started. Custom Browse has a very (overly) busy interface so I feel your pain. Also, you may need to occasionally use the refresh/forward/back buttons on your browser to get back to familiar territory. Those complex interfaces have a way of hiding the controls you need to navigate back cleanly. -- Danny8 Danny8's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=27606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83489 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Looking for help with Custom Browse
I set up Custom Browse to organize classical music on my SB Classic. After reading the wiki, I reluctantly embraced the concept of tagging classical tracks by substituting the name of the work for the name of the album. So if I have a single CD with three works--say twelve tracks--those tracks are tagged as if they made up three separate albums. I also tagged tracks with Composer as well as non-standard, 'made up' tags. One of my tags is WORK, another is called MOVMT. Surprisingly, various specifications include dozens of industry-specific tags but none are specifically designed for tagging classical music. Anyway, I was able to set up my box so I have a top-level Composer menu. Go right and all composer names are listed. Pick a composer, go right, and all his works (albums) are listed. Go right again and separate tracks (usually three or four for a typical sypmphony/concerto) for that work are listed. Pressing play on a 'work' plays all tracks for that work. Pressing play on a 'composer' plays all tracks for that composer (a long time for certain oeuvres). -- Danny8 Danny8's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=27606 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83489 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I display the icon by specifying the URL as menu property icon, the URL is: 'html/images/plugin.png'. That doesn't work in iPeng's root menu because the TabBAr controller which is iPeng's main menu requires monochrome images that use an alpha chanlle for the background. All SBS icons have a solid background and thus would show up as a solid square (reminds me that I could actually change this for iPad since on iPAd I use my own controller which supports colors...). You can still set the icon in two ways: 1. You can use one of iPeng's standard icons but in this case you would have to know their IDs. I could tell you the IDs if you like. The alternative is to use an additional menuIcon property. It works like the normal icon property except that the icons should be 40x30 pixels in size and needs to have an alpha channel. You can use colors but they will actually all show as black, if you want gray you need to use lower alpha (opacity) levels. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83474 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Dynamic Playlists not working from Controller
Hi, I've been using erland's SQL and Dynamic Playlists plugins for some time with my SB3. I created some playlists that play random songs from Genres or other playlists. Before SBS 7.5 I could stand on a genre or a playlist, press and hold play to bring up a context menu from which I could choose play random songs (this is using the IR remote with the SB3 -- I can't remember how it worked on the controller, or even if it did work). Now with SBS 7.5 I get an error when I do this, either with the IR remote or the controller. I get an error message like No songs, no songs for Random. However, I can still use the web interface, by clicking on the Dynamic Playlists icon when standing on a genre or a playlist. Any idea what might be broken or how to fix it? I thought maybe there might be a newer version of the plugins, but I appear to be up-to-date, according to the Plugins tab of the Settings page. Another thought is that I might need to recreate the playlists in SQL/Dynamic Playlists using updated templates? Thought I'd get some feedback before I try that. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
I created a plugin for squeezecenter which basically adds functionality to control a separate whole-house amplifier via iPeng. I'm using two squeezeslaves and a receiver to provide the input sources (clients) to the amp. I then use the amp capabilities to group zones, adjust volume and so forth. So far I've been successful except in one area; volume control. I want to use the volume control on iPeng to control the volume of the zone. But I don't want it to send volume commands to the client. Rather, I want to fix the volume output of each player to 100% and use the amp volume instead. This works out well for the squeezeslaves as I fix the PCs vol control to 100% and configure the slaves to use hw vol. But if I do this for the receiver, it sends volume commands to the client AND the amp. This isn't exactly what I want, however. Instead, I'd like to be able to control the volume slider in iPeng even though the Volume control setting is set to Output level is fixed at 100%. Has anyone tried this and got it working? I read on another blog somewhere that the web interface allows you to change the volume control even though the client output is fixed at 100%. Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. -Mark PS. The squeezeserver perl code is crazy configurable, but I'm exhausted doing experiments as I have to constantly restart the server. -- maagma maagma's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35090 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
