Do you mean that the Squeezebox Radio (=the player) says the PC refused
the SB Radio to connect to the stream? So the problem is that SB Radio
can't get the audio but it can connect to the PC (since I get the cover
arts and stuff)? If I try to connect to the stream with Opera (my web
browser) it only plays for a couple of seconds.

Do I have to give spotifyd some other clearances than in the firewall?

I'm going to try to set up a port forwarding in my router, should I use
the SB Radio's IP-adress or the Squeezebox server's IP-adress?

The port I am port forwarding should be 9001 correct? And I should set
it up as a HTTP? (I did this before but it didn't help so I deleted the
setting but I think I'll try it again).

Again, thank you for your help. I'm looking in other forums too since
it doesn't seem to be a plugin problem.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Kids Play on SB 7.5.1

2010-12-20 Thread auskento

I run SBS on a Gentoo based Linux box.

I just completed the upgrade to 7.5.1 and cant seem to get Kids Play
operational.

I enable the 3rd party plugins, and select Kidsplay.

It then goes thru a continual update reboot required loop.

I get a repo data error if i use the repository file.

Thank you. That works great.

I found that digits with transparency did not work as expected - they
were plotted on top of the previous digit rather than redrawing the
background first. However, that was easily solved by changing the
ordering and using non-transparent digits.

The player (radio) needs to conenct to port 9001 to stream audio. It
gets all the other information from squeezebox server on port 9000, so
the fact that your can't stream suggests this is the issue. As long as
your PC and radio are on the same network (same IP address range?) then
there should be no need for the router to port forward to port 9001 -
you definately don't want to do this for connections from the
internet.

Assuming you have a simple network then I suspect the issue is a
firewall on your PC (if you remove or disable Norton, does windows
firewall kick in?)

Opera won't play the stream as it needs to be controlled by squeezebox
server. You could try installing Softsqueeze or Squeezeplay on your PC
to prove whether local playback works.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify plugin needs fresh install every morning

2010-12-20 Thread mtsrts

Hi all,

I run Squeezebox Server with the Spotify plugin on my Ubuntu 10.10
install:

Version: 7.5.1 - r30836 @ Tue Jun 1 05:57:28 PDT 2010
OS: Debian - NL - utf8
Platform: i686-linux
Perl: 5.10.1 - i686-linux-gnu-thread-multi
MySQL: 5.1.49-1ubuntu8.1

After a fresh install everythings works fine, for a day...
Every morning Spotify keeps on rebuffering every 2, 3 seconds

The only thing that seems to solve the problem is completely reinstall
the server software.

I also run a server on an older Ubuntu install and a WinXP pc. No
problems there.

Can anyone help me with this?

I still would like to fix the problem with my remote SBR not showing

to be something about the sdticon command that wants to send the icons

What do you mean with "remote" SBR ?
Are we talking about a remote SBR connected to SBS through SSH/VPN or
something similar ?

The icons should be stored on the SBS in the SuperDateTime plugin and
they are retrieved using port 9000. If port 9000 is open, maybe it uses
the wrong IP address ?

If you configure debug logging on Custom Clock in the
Settings/Advanced/Logging, you should see a message in
/var/log/messages that starts with:
"Getting image for"

In this message, you will see which IP address and port it uses to get
the image.

To do this, you will need to login to your SBR using ssh, so if you
aren't familiar with ssh this could be a bit complicated. In that case,
just let me know exactly how your configuration and network between SBS
and SBR looks like and I'll see if I can see something that can cause
problems.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Suggestion for a new plug-in - random play enhancement

2010-12-20 Thread JerryS

I use the random album mix feature quite a lot because it exposes me to
music that I would not necessarily think of listening to. Let me make
my suggestion by example:-

Suppose I have 365 albums. The present random album mix when first
used plays 1 album randomly from 365 choices. The second time it is
used it does the same. i.e., selects 1 album from 365 choices and so on
with each subsequent use. Over the course of a year if used once a day,
as the process is random, some albums will get played more than once
and others won't get played at all. I would like all my albums to be
played in random order over the year. So, the random play+ would
behave as follows. On first use it would choose an album randomly from
365, on second use from 364, etc until all albums have been played. It
would then reset to make all albums available again. Just needs an
extra column in a database and a bit of coding?

Erland maybe, if your around, please?

Erland,

Thanks for your help. Currently I am using a phone with a wifi hotspot
to connect to my SBS at my house. The SBS is not set up with SSH, but
is currently using username/password security only. The log file that
you requested has the following error whenever a sdt image is
requested

Dec 20 12:10:01 squeezeplay: WARN applet.CustomClock -
CustomClockApplet.lua:3920 error loading picture
http://98.X.X.X:9000/plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/39_50x50_p.png

You got me thinking that security was the issue, so I removed all
security and it still popped up the same warning messages even with no
security. I then connected with a laptop that is sharing the same phone
hotspot as the remote radio and went to
http://98.X.X.X:9000/plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/39_50x50_p.png
and it showed me the image correctly. Therefore, the entire ip address
is correct and my router is properly forwarding. I do have ports 3483 &
9000 open for both TCP and UDP.

In the logs you can see successful results from sdttext requests.
Personally I am at a loss, since the laptop will show the proper icon,
the remote sbr does not show an icon, but a sbr on the local lan loads
(and caches) the icons with no issues.

One potential answer would be to cache all the icons. I suppose I could
upload them to the cache, but that seems like a lot of work.

I have the same problem. When I turn off the firewall it works again.
So it's definitely the firewall, probably a microsoft patch. Nothing

The strangest thing, when I got home from work and started my NAS and
my PC (the router was already running from yesterday) it worked!

Then an hour later, the same problem as yesterday is back. I've
disabled the firewall both in norton and the windows firewall and
restarted my system but it doesn't work. I can play a song that's
located on my PC and I can play a song from my NAS too, but not through
spotify.

I've noticed something else though, I have remotepad (iphone app)
installed on my PC and it always get a new IP adress everytime I
restart my PC. Alway a higher number than before. This computer is a
new one, with the old one the remotepad always had the same IP.

I have a simple network with a router a new PC and a NAS.

Do you have some kind of IP filtering active you your router/firewall
at home ?

In your setup, Custom Clock will try to get the images through the
image proxy at mysqueezebox.com, so if you like to try the same from
the laptop you should try:
http://baby.squeezenetwork.com/public/imageproxy?u=http%3A%2F%2F98%2EX%2EX%2EX%3A9000%2Fplugins%2FSuperDateTime%2Fhtml%2Fimages%2F30%2Epng

If this doesn't work, you need to open your router so the
baby.squeezenetwork.com proxy can get through. You will of course have
to replace the %2EX with the real IP number in the url above.

If this works, the problem is caused by a bug in the Custom Clock
applet that results in that it tries to use port 9000 on
baby.squeezenetwork.com.

In that case, it would be great if you could try to replace the
following file with the unziped version of the file attached to this
post and see if it solves the problem:
/usr/share/jive/applets/CustomClock/CustomClockApplet.lua

If this solves the problem, I'll make an official release with this
correction.

As per response on the general forum - please change to wma streaming
rather than flash aac - there is a bug in the rtmp code which causes
the reboot. I thought this had made it into released firmware but it
sounds less certain - what version are you running?

Is there more than one entry for spotifyd.exe - perhap remove it and
then see if it asks you again when spotifyd is restarted. I run Norton
and it works as long as the helper app is allowed in the firewall.

OK (semi)Good news. I entered the URL in my laptop and it responded no
authorization...S I disabled user/pass on SBS and tried again... Got
an icon. Then I updated the cc.lua as you suggested and tried it and it
worked!! Got the icon. Then I re-enabled security and then the icon
would not show up. I cleared the CC cache before I did this.

Therefore with user/name it appears going through the proxy doesnt
work. I imagine that if the URL was configured
http://baby.squeezenetwork.com/public/imageproxy?u=http:u...@pass//98.X.X.X:9000/plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/30.png
it would probably work, but having user/pass sent plain text to/from a
proxy doesn't seem like a very good idea to me.

Thank you,

That was straight forward yes. I'm a remote guy, so I never tried the
web gui. Should have! :-) Thanks anyway. I was kind of hoping that I
didn't need a specific artist url, that just the artist name would do,
but hey.. it's doable, so..

Btw: Are the artists urls stable, or do they tend to suddenly
change..?

Agreed, I think I'm going to add a configuration parameter on some of
the items which you can use to configure them to never use the proxy.
At the moment, it only skips the proxy if the IP address is a private
one (192.168.*, 172.26.*, 10.*) and this is obviously not the case in
your setup. With this logic I should also be able to force it to never
use the proxy for icons delivered by SBS, like the Super Date Time
icons.

This will require a little bit of work and I'm not sure exactly when
I'll get the time, but hopefully sometime during the next weeks. Might
be this week also, I'm just not sure yet when I'll get the time.

Excellent diagnosis of the problems. I am in no extreme hurry to get
this fixed, I just wondered what the issue was. The pngs that
customclock uses for backgrounds and other locations don't use the
proxy. Since the remote library has to be hardwired in by ip address
(grrr), I dont see the reason to use a proxy at all to be honest with
you, but obviously I am missing something.

Anyway, thanks for all your help!

pippin;595661 Wrote:

Ah ok. So this is probably what makes the server bounce from suspend
when my friend is around. I checked with him and he had the "preserve
connection" option selected.
I made him deselect the option.
However he told me he likes that firing up iPeng wakes the server.

His server (I did integration and coding) is multi-purpose and runs a
power manager. For the Squeezebox part it looks like Gharris999's
srvPowerControl in purpose. But it is coded as a system-wide daemon,
the vote to keep awake or go to sleep is a compound of the status on
many services (nfs, afp, samba, backupPC, TimeMachine, SBS, hardware
bits.)
When nothing else is active, the server sleeps after a while when
players are idle. My friend says he often keeps iPeng running on his
iPhone as the foreground app when at home. Licking the screensaver
cover art screen, you know.

If iPeng sends WOL packets regularly, I guess this accounts for the
server bouncing off from suspend when he is at home.

I could (via CLI, some well-known udp/tcp...) detect the presence of
iPeng and keep the server from suspending to avoid the bounce.
Or, *maybe*, iPeng could avoid sending WOL packets when no player is
active and connected to the local server (and then just rest on its
cache) ?

I know I am catering to a niche. Does these developments make any sense
to you, sometime ?

Actually, I believe most(all?) of the other images do use the proxy,
the difference is that they are retrieved from an online site (using
port 80) and not from your SBS (using port 9000). Currently I think the
proxy functionality only works for port 80 resources, the patched
version in the previous post fixes this so it also works for online
sites using other ports.

The reason to use the proxy for online sites is that:
1. It's used for rescaling which is faster than doing it every time on
the SBR with its slow processor and limited memory.
2. It's used for caching, retrieving an image from the proxy is faster
than getting it from some of the online sites.
3. It's used to decrease the load on third party sites storing the real
images.

There is no reason to use the proxy for images stored in SBS and this
is also not the case on a local network, the issue is just in a remote
setup as yours.

OK That makes sense. Perhaps a simpler solution is instead of looking
to SBS for the pngs, look to an external website that could be
specified instead. Like a dropbox :)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2586806/images/1.png

Of course the issue with this if SDT changed icons you wouldnt get
them, but I think these icons are pretty standardized anyway as far as
numbering so that might be an issue. Of course I dont know if that
would have be changed in CustomClock or SDT

No, I can't do that. I haven't yet found a reliable way to determine
whether a server is really active and reporting correct player details,
this is why I always keep servers in iPeng. So doing this would make
other cases fail, especially when one _needs_ WOL.

Thanks again to anyone who can provide help.

2010-12-20 Thread vw195

I sure would like to move my .png icons from locally in the sbsserver
plugins area to a remote website like dropbox.

If its not too much trouble could someone give me a hint how to get
from $wetData{-1}{'forecastIconURLSmall'} =
'/plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/' . $1 . '.png';

to something like :

$wetData{-1}{'forecastIconURLSmall'} =
'http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2586086/' . $1 . '.png';

Obviously that is not quite there yet and I would need to do

my $url2 = 'http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2586086/'. $1 . ".png'
my $http2 = my $http = Slim::Networking::SimpleAsyncHTTP->new(???)
$http2->get($url2)
$wetData{-1}{'forecastIconURLSmall'} -> http2

I know nothing about Perl, or C so am winging it somewhat :p
