I don't use Sugarcube much anymore. Instead, I use something similar that I've
developed (extended initially from some older Sugarcube source code).

I created a plugin called DynamicMix, which provides some additional modes for
Erlands DynamicPlaylist plugin, using MusicIP to select new tracks to add.

I released an initial version of DynamicMix, but I've got a better version here
that I've been using for a while that I haven't published. If you're
interested in giving it a go, I'll release it into my repository.

I effectively have a MusicIP filter to select tracks that are rated 4* or
higher, or not rated. DynamicMix provides different modes, which effectively
are ways to choose the starting seed, either from chosen song, artist, album,
genre, MusicIP Mood, or it can use the currently playing track or a random song
from the currently selected MusicIP filter, or totally random song as an
initial seed as a complete fail-over backup (eg. if MusicIP is not responding).
This made it very resilient to be used as an alarm clock - it never fails to
play something for me in the morning to wake me up, even if MusicIP is dead (it
sometimes doesn't seem to work for a period of time after waking from standby,
but eventually kicks in when it does start responding to requests).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-12-12 Thread pippin

Err, well. The berak was that you got playback for $1 instead of $5 if
you have both Apps.
With Apps themselves there are no individual breaks you can give on the
App Store.

Now unfortunately that doesn't help you since you already purchased the
playback.

One thing: you have to keep in mind that iPeng for iPhone and iPeng for
iPad are different Apps so you can't simply restore the playback in the
iPad App and if you purchased it in the iPad App again you would be
charged.

Don't do that!
Instead, install iPng for iPhone also on the iPad, restore the playback
in the iPhone App and it will then work in the iPad App as well.

It's all a bit complicated but it was the only way we found to get
around the limitations of the App Store at the time when we introduced
it.
Today we could use Urban Airship or something to share the playback
between the Apps but that would mean every existing customer would have
to re-license it and we would have to invent yet another complicated
process for this... Err, no...

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Sugarcube not honoring minimum ratings

2011-12-12 Thread MeSue

I use Sugarcube set to mix by filters. All the filters I use only
include songs rated 3 and higher. I also have the Trackstat block
settings to block anything less than a 3 rating. Yet, I constantly get
songs rated 1 and 2 in my mixes. I just double checked all my filters
and made sure the Trackstat settings are set right (both checkboxes are
ticked in Sugarcube settings) so I should not be getting these lower
rated songs. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm not sure whether people have this running on this NAS. You may
find manually installing the 2.0.4 version may be simpler as the 2.2.1

2011-12-12 Thread oskaalb

I have a Qnap TS-109 II NAS (ARM) on which I've been running Squeezebox
Server for a long time without any problems, with two Logitech Duets
playing my ripped music files. Then I decided to try the Spotify plugin
from Triode to get some more music, but I think the installation must
have failed somewhere.

When I install the plugin from the SBS plugin window and klick 'apply'
the browser window states 'waiting for 192.168.1.103' (my NAS' IP
address) and the status is 'Helper app not running'. The window cannot
be refreshed.

I can see from the log file there's a password problem, but I dont't
know how to fix it. I hope someone can help me out here. I can still
play my own music, so there is no crisis. But it would be nice to be
have Spotify too.

Given the small amount of money that apps go for, I can't imagine
anybody not being willing to pay for something they find useful. When
an app costs 99 cents or $5, it's not even worth the trouble to try to
circumvent copy protection.

Are we talking client side Java Script that would have to execute on
the Touch ?
Or are you just saying that it feeds a standard image to the web
browser which is generated by some server component using Java Script
?

If the web page refers to an image, it should work with Custom Clock as
described in my previous post, else it will be problematic as the Touch
doesn't have any Java Script engine.

Do you have the "Automatic rescan" option in LMS
Settings/Advanced/Custom Scan/Various Settings enabled ?
If that option is disabled a LMS rescan won't trigger the Custom Scan
module.

Else a LMS rescan should trigger Custom Scan to run, the scanning will
be reported as finished before Custom Scan has finished scanning
though, so you have to check in Custom Scan settings page to know if
the Custom Scan scanning has finished or is still in progress.

Seeing that you have trouble with VLC - there is a ffmpeg alternative.

The downside with ffmpeg is that it doesn;t understand ".pls" format
and the real URL has to be extracted from the URL ending with .pls.
The duration options works with ffmpeg - the stream below records for
15 secs.

Code:

  ffmpeg -t 15 -f aac -i
"http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_lc1_radio3_p?s=1323696167&e=1323710567&h=38d3df62d177eaa4e7f5b9caf42e55d1";

spaces are back in the command so remove them so like
"access=file,mux=raw,dst"

However in your copy of the error it shows an extra space after file
and before comma "file ,"

To avoid all issues with extra spaces - the command can be quoted

Extra window can be removed with other options but they are useful to
see what is happening.

I tested the command on an XP SP3 system.

Are you starting the command from a "run" command ?

I opened a command window first. Then at the prompt I entered the VLC
command (although I used the full vlc.exe path).

I think the following version using quotes should get around extra
spaces problem (can't test at the moment).

Code:

  vlc -I dummy --quiet http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r3_aaclca.pls
--sout="#transcode{acodec=flac,channels=2}:std{access=file,mux=raw,dst=\"C:\\abcd\\test.flac\"}"

Just a follow up, have looked more closely into this and although I
analyse my files using the headless server it does not write the
fingerprints to the tags until I go back to the GUI version and do a
refresh.

I guess in my case although I was not doing a refresh myself the next
time I came to scan for new files with the GUI version this is like an
auto-refresh and at this point the previous analysed data was written
to the tags.

So I take back what I said earlier Mnyb it would appear you are
correct.

Thanks for the fix.

What I did not understand however, is the behaviour:

Changing (retagging) the tracks did not lead to items showing up in
CustomScan/Custom Browse, neither worked: delete from library - LMS
scan - add to library - LMS scan.
I had to do a full CustomScan browse to get the items into the
library.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2011-12-12 Thread ian_heys

I noticed something like this over the weekend.

I think on Saturday night.

All live channels on iPlayer were playing for about 10 - 15 seconds and
then being interrupted for 2 -3 seconds and then picking up where they
had left off.

My issues went away on Sunday morning so presumed it was BBC problem.
