Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Vortexbox v EAC or dbPoweramp
I have three vortexbox servers, two capable of ripping CDs. But I don't use the VBs for ripping. All my ripping is with dbpoweramp and I've ripped about 5,000 CDs with dbpa. A key issue for me is the ability of a ripper to match a rip back to the ACCURATERIP database (AR).** EAC, dbpa, cuetools, and maybe a few others can access and submit back to AR. VB ripper does not use. This alone is enough for me to use dbpa for ripping. But dbpa also has excellent metadata "perfectmeta" where it uses 4 or 5 different sources and then tries to give you the most "consistent" metadata for that rip. The artwork finder is also excellent. I rip to FLAC with dbpa, do any tag finetuning with mp3tag, and then move files over to my VB server across my network. I also create a mirror of mp3 lossy files from the FLAC files with dbpa converter for use in my iThings. Very easy to do, and dbpa converter preserves all tags, artwork, directory structure, etc. **for those that don't know, AccurateRip is a system (developed by the creator of dbpoweramp) that captures the data from millions of ripped CDs (the CRCs, etc. from the rips). So when you rip a CD, it compares the data from your rip back to the perhaps thousands of other people who ripped the same CD title, but a different physical copy, on a different computer with a different drive. If one's rip matches that information, there is no better guarantee that you have in fact achieved a bitperfect rip yourself. Note that a new tool, PerfectTunes (by the maker of dbpa) will do after the fact checks of your lossless rips back to the accuraterip database. It will also help you fix low quality artwork. http://www.accuraterip.com/ *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) > LMS 7.8 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) > LMS 7.8 > Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone6 & iPadAir2 (iPeng8 & Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp > FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102854 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Not everyone feels comfortable with building/setting up their own Raspberry Pi/ODROID/Wandboard/you name it device. So, essentially, if some of the Squeezebox apps out there--or even LMS itself,as a matter of fact--start to support the Chromecast/Cast for audio protocol, these people would get ootb devices for streaming via LMS. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Vortexbox v EAC or dbPoweramp
Several years ago I was using Vortexbox in a virtual machine to rip my CD collection, because it's really easy to use for such a bulk rip job - and I'm still using it for ripping because I'm too lazy to use a different tool. If the CD is recognized then tagging is usually fine. Of course you should check the config file to specify the naming schema for your files or whether to embed cover art or not, etc. I use mp3tag afterwards mainly to add tags for sorting or comments and sometimes to change genre. For cover art it's different for me. I usually don't use the automatically retrieved cover, but prefer to manually select from a list where I can check quality, pixel resolution and file size. I use Album Art Downloader for that task. reinholdk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36070 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102854 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Google starts Google Cast for Audio
So my reading is this is essentially the same thing as audio over a Chromecast except that you don't need a dongle that's connected to an HDMI port. Devices have the cast-receiving ability built-in. So certain devices which typically come without HDMI (e.g., some compact/portable speakers) function with Google Cast for Audio. This isn't really a cool, innovative, brand-new idea. This is basically a function for those who are incapable of doing anything without an app that works out-of-the-box. To work with Google Cast for Audio, your device essentially needs to contain a small computer. Think of current AVRs. Hifiberries. WLAN speakers. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
You should probably stop and exit LMS -before- you unzip/overwrite the files. And then just overwrite as there's no need to uninstall. What version of SDT are you using? There are now two versions - one by BoomX2 and one by tcutting. Both of which have version numbers higher than Greg's last version so LMS shouldn't be grabbing Greg's at all. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Vortexbox v EAC or dbPoweramp
Embarking on a re-rip project. A lot of my earliest rips were with iTunes and I now know better so want to re-rip a lot of CDs. Have used EAC as my goto ripper for a while and I know it's capabilities but it isn't really suitable for a production line type job. So I have built a Vortexbox with a view to using it just to rip my CDs. LMS will stay on my QNAP. Question to those of you that have used Vortexbox for a while - how good is it compared to EAC or dbPoweramp? I am just looking at ripping to FLAC, tagging and cover art capability. CDs are rock, blues, jazz and pop plus a bit (but not much) classical. Latest available iPeng Classic on my iPhone 5s. The server is my stable live server 7.7.2 on QNAP TS419p. I didn't try it on dev servers. SB Player was installed and running in two places. Oh, which iPeng version is this? Could it be that the SB Player's connection to the server is not stable? Does it have any special characters in the player name? There is a bug in LMS that sometimes makes it send wrongly composed data and makes iPeng re-read all data because it never gets a complete set. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98049 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
I'm having a strange problem using the new plugins on LMS 7.7.5 running on Mac OS X v10.6.8 The steps I take to install are as follows: 1. Uncheck Greg's plugin to uninstall 2. Copy unzipped updates to user/Library/Caches/Squeezebox/InstalledPlugins/Plugins 3. Stop/start server (via Preferences) The plugin now works - however, I now see "Plugin updates are available" on the LMS home screen. If I go to the plugin settings tab, I am prompted to restart server. If I do so, I lose the new SDT plugin. Perhaps this is a problem with Greg's repository refusing to die?! If so, is there anything that I can do to remove Greg's repository to resolve this issue? cheers Chippy Chippy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=247 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14327 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

First hardware partners for speakers are Sony, LG and Denon. http://chrome.blogspot.ch/2015/01/introducing-google-cast-for-audio.html http://www.google.com/castaudio/ Would be nice, if any of the LMS apps for mobile devices could support this in the future. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin to suppress "Shuffle", "Repeat" and "Add to Playlist" Modes
If you don't use the "Shuffle", "Repeat" or "Add to Playlist" features the corresponding buttons in the iOS und Android apps can be a bit annoying (e. g. if other members of the household hit them accidentally...) Personally i never use these modes, so i wrote a small plugin to get rid of them. I post this here for the case that somebody else might like to use it. Installation: - Unzip the attached file in your "Plugins" folder - Activate the plugin in Settings -> Plugins - Check the plugin configuration: You can enable/disable the "Shuffle","Repeat" and "Add to Playlist" modes separately Please note that this is a "quick and dirty" thing i wrote for myself during the christmas holidays. But it should work on any system: It simply subscribes to the shuffle and repeat events of the playlist and resets the corresponding mode if the user has activated it. For the addtracks and inserttracks events it sets the track to the first track the user had inserted/added. Shouldn't cause any trouble. But anyway: Use at your own risk. +---+ |Filename: DisableShuffle.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=17108| +---+ sternenjaeger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57562 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102851 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
