You didn't have to do anything but update from 7.7.2 to 7.8.1? Hmm...
7.7.x should be good enough.

It's a BBC issue. They're making multiple changes almost but not quite
at the same time. It doesn't seem to be such a problem for the likes of
TuneIn that are happy to broadcast MP3, but for those that want AAC it's
very trying.

Same for me. So the R1/R2 routings aren't finding the AAC streams, and

I agree it's odd, but the tag names are different, which can't be right.
You should at least specify both tags (RATING, RATING WMP).

The next problem is that you have set the top rating (Max rating
value)to be 100 (the default) but your actual top rating is 5, so change
that to 5. Note that if you have set some ratings with trackstat this
might cause some confusion.

Did you run a full LMS scan or just Custom Scan on Ratings? I notice
you have not selected the automatic custom scan on this page.

Hope I've got it right, but to clarify:
iPlayer was developed by Triode and exists as an LMS plugin and an
applet (for Radio or Touch)
iPlayerExtra was developed by bpa and exists as an LMS plugin (but
requires the iPlayer plugin to work)
And there is a MySB BBC app that has nothing to do with iPlayer or
iPlayerExtra.

You did well to find him. Many of us have been using his blog entry of
24/9/14 and his comment response of 29/9/14 to make sense of what has
been going on at the BBC's end. But there's still a lot of confusion
around, such as codecs (now AAC or MP3), streaming protocols (now HLS,
HDS, SHOUTcast and planned DASH), and for Squeezeboxes what we can
expect of iPlayer in its LMS plugin and applet incarnations. Hopefully
Triode and bpa will steward us through the stormy seas. Meanwhile, God
help us!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2015-02-09 Thread Nick_G

OK. I managed to contact a guy at the BBC (Jim Simmons) in charge of
audio delivery asking about the problem with several AAC streams going
quiet on Triode's BBC applet. Apparently the AAC streams were delivered
via the same infrastructure as the WMA ones so they are going to be
discontinued also. However, there will be streams of up to 320 kb/s
available in the HLS and DASH formats. These are being provided by Audio
Factory, along with the new MP3 streams.

Now, after tinkering about with LMS I have installed bpa's iPlayer
plug-in and now have the missing AAC streams back again, the slight snag
is that the SBT can only see this plugin when connected to my LAN, so I
need the computer on to use it. But this has got me wondering - does
bpa's plug-in access the new Audio Factory high quality streams? If so,
then perhaps Triode can also do some tinkering with his BBC applet as
well so that the Squeezebox platform will be compatible with the new BBC
system?

If it's OK I will get back to Jim and point him in the direction of this
forum as it would be good to get this more integrated into the Squeezbox
platform.

Regards,
Nick

Not been round these parts for a long time so haven't kept up. I've

I'm running LMS 7.7.2 on a Synology NAS device. I'm a BT customer based

All of my music files were ripped with dbpoweramp. I do not know how the
output got changed from Flac to MP3. It must have only been for a short
while as there are very few MP3s in my library.

Here is what an MP3 file's tags look like using MP3Tag/extended tags:

17324

Here is what a FLAC file's tags look like using MP3Tag/extended tags:

Does that show what you are asking?

Thanks.

It makes me wonder if there's some problem specific to Virgin Media
connections
All I get is some bored sounding bloke reading from a script saying that
the BBC no longer support this service.

To be fair, it probably is boring for him reading that script over and
over again. But it sounds like you're landing where the BBC's wma
streams used to be. My guess is that you're landing there either because
you've specified wma as your preferred codec (look in plugin settings),
or because iPlayer can't find the aac streams (update iPlayer to v
1.2.14).

I'm not going to answer directly. Look at screens and ask yourself what
the names of the rating tags are in your two examples. Are they exactly
the same? I don't know if you have much experience of computers, but
they are very, very literal.

Then look at what you specified as the rating tag in Custom Scan. Does
it match one or the other, or both? Can you work out why one would work
and the other would not?

Have your flacs got RATING tags in the same way as your Mp3s, with the
same name?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2015-02-09 Thread arressen

Love using iPeng on iPad for a long time, but just recently noticed that
start-up performance has become quite slow. It's not the end of the
world, but it takes several seconds for the full screen to be completely
displayed, and particularly the left-hand menu - it used to be almost
instantaneous.

I'm running LMS 7.8.0 on a Raspberry pi and latest available iPeng 8 on
v3 iPad running iOS 8.1.3. At first thought it was a problem with the
pi, but have been running performance monitor and see no problems - well
within available cpu, memory, storage, and bandwidth.

I have edited the left-hand menu in iPeng to re-sequence items, etc. -
is that the cause possibly, and if so then how can I reset to default?

Many thanks,
Richard

Are you trying to listen to the WMA codec streams? If so, the BBC have
switched them off, and you need to specify AAC codec streams in the
iPlayer plugin.

It's been an interesting morning for me.
After trying all the options available in the settings all I can get of
the Beeb's service is an announcement that "this service is no longer
provided".
They (the BBC) have been messing about again :(

I'm using Triode's iPlayer plugin, and I'm resident in the UK.
I am on cable services if that's of any significance.
