No what I mean is you can specify s complete ip:port or just an ip or
just :port. If all you want is speed up the mdns detection and don't
care about the port used for the web server offered, then you can just
specify the ip address

I'm a bit confused.

The information bubble on the config page says "IP:port".

My config file says:

192.168.0.197:49152 (And it seems to work)

Can you just tell me what it should say, should it be:

192.168.0.197:49152 | p (if not please just
reply with exact format and I will update config).

I think you put me on the rigth track ... if a player has enough to
buffer PCM in UPnP mode, it should be able to do the same with AirPlay.
So going small buffer was the wrong direction (I did that at the
beginning because I was misleading by another bug). So I think now the
problem is an overload I was creating on the host & guest UDP/IP stacks
by sending audio too quickly. I've now paced that much more efficiently
and it has been flawless on my system since then. Increase the buffer to
at least 3000 ms and then try again. Use version 0.1.0.2-dev-1, this is
the only version where it works. Your feedback would be highly
appreciated !

There is another option which is to indicate to LMS that each "sampling
point" are not 'fully' accurate and must be averaged out. This is an
option you can set when the player is being registered. The result is
probably that LMS will do adjustement more slowly but that would prevent
that effect from happening. Today, I can't do below 10ms as I'm using
"sample point" every 8 ms to LMS, so ther accuracy is +/-8ms. Again,
mean is centered but if you take every point for an accurate value, then
LMS might do shift a bit too often (you can see in the log that there
are often adjustement of "skip 441 frames = 441/44100 = 10ms)

bug - Track elpased was set wrong when pressing 'next' or 'previous' on
a live radio (very minor visual effect)
bug - Gathering metadata when LMS scans library was crashing
improvment - armv6hf version runs on raspberry pi B where before only
armv5el would (armv6eh only ran on a raspi 2)
improvment - mDNS search can be improved (more reliable) by forcing host
IP address using
cleaning - Remove ppc build (probably did not work and I can't test)

So minor things, but the crashing when LMS was scanning was a bit
painful (in other words, you could not use the app while library
scanning was ongoing), so I decided to do an update

Just to say a big thank you to Michael for the work he's put in to
re-enable (most of) the Spotify functionality. The broken search was
generating complaints from the family so really pleased to have a
solution so quickly.

For other technically challenged people like me, I disabled Triode's
spotify plugin then restarted the LMS. I then enabled Michael's Spotify
Protocol Handler and the Logitech Spotify plugin via the Plugins tab on
the LMS Settings web page. Restarted again, to be on the safe side. Set
the Spotify username and password for the Spotify Protocol Handler in
the settings. I then went to http://www.mysqueezebox.com/appgallery and
added the spotify app and configured it for my account. Restarted LMS
again! Lo and behold, the Spotify app was visible in the My Apps section
on the LMS web page and it worked :D

BTW I play the music through Duet Receivers in several rooms, but
control them using Squeeze Commander on my android phone and tablet. The
Spotify icon is in the main menu in Squeeze Commander which is great.
Also, running LMS 7.9.0 - 1453057784 @ Sun Jan 17 19:41:43 UTC 2016 on a
Raspberry Pi 2.

after the update to the newest nightly build of LMS 7.9 and the switch
from Triodes spotify plugin to Michael's new Spotify handler, iPeng does
notfind my LMS any more. Even if I specify the server by hand in the
iPeng settings, no players are detected and no connection to the server

responding also the URL I configured for the server in iPeng is fine:

http://192.168.1.2:9000

In the webinterface of LMS everything is OK, players are shown, music
can be played, e.g.

I'm not sure if the problem is sitting in front of the computer or is
LMS and / or iPeng related, so any idea / help is higly apriciated :-)!

2016-02-16 Thread Michael Herger

Some of the playlists are changing permanently, so thats not an option.

I just committed a change to LMS 7.9 which should allow to play
album/artist/playlist spotify URIs. I'll have to test it further. It
would be great if you could download and install tomorrow's build and
try to run your playlist URI through the web UI's Radio/Play URL input
field. If this is working, then you'll be able to use a URL as yours
with the "playlist play" command (instead of spotifyplay).

As for now, I got back to the Triode Plugin for the automation aspect.
Maybe iŽll take a look for a workaround this weekend. If thereŽs a
possibility to get the old functionality with the new plugin iŽd be
thrilled!

The feature I implemented is something we have wanted to have in LMS for
several years. I don't know why we never implemented it. It's basically
not limited to Spotify URIs, but could be added to any service.

I've noticed if you're browsing on the mobile app you can tap the

playback. Is this just native to the official spotify apps or can it be

I think it's intended to stream to Spotify Connect, Airplay etc.
devices. But I doubt you can use it to stream to Squeezebox in any
reasonable way.

to work just fine, apart from Spotify on my squeezebox. In the plugin

But then when I run a test it says:
Helper App -> Pass
Logged In -> Pass
Failed To Receive Metadata -> FAIL

Unable to start streaming from Spotify - check connectivity to Spotify
My log:

Connecting to spotify from my laptop (using the same server as router is

Works for me - if i search for "Frans Bruggen" i get a list of albums of

Both in iPeng and webinterface. Looks the same as the list returned by
the qobuz app

But i don't get results if the "filter search results" function (in the

You do not need to download the plugin. Just open the settings page of

I think this is the stable version. Are you using a 1000ms network
buffer in the plugin? This is the recommended setting, but I you had

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: AirPlay Bridge = integrate AirPlay devices with LMS (squeeze2raop)

2016-02-16 Thread epoch1970

Something I did to find the "right" value of player audio delay: I
created an AIFF file with alternating 2secs L/R tones, for a total
length of 60 secs.
I set an SB3 to play only the right channel, [I wanted to do the
opposite with the software player but I always got both channels output]
I half-unplugged the audio cord on my Airport Express to output the left
channel only.
Then I synced the group, played the file in loop and fiddled with the
audio delay slider on the software player.
Until you reach the right value to your setup and ears, you'll hear a
silence gap and/or both sources at the same time.
To my surprise, the right value for this device was around 400ms (nearly
50ms higher than I thought)
I don't know what you think of the idea but if felt I needed some help
in assessing the right audio delay.

Airplay Bridge by philippe_44.

This plugin has the capability for same-room audio sync, which as we all
know is harder than multi-room...

It's a bit early -- was released today :)
But I think this is a really exciting development for the squeezebox
users community.

2016-02-16 Thread Michael Herger

I should note that I just recently switch from Triode-only to
official-plus-handler. I suspect that the Artist menu problem is with
the official plugin and unrelated to the protocol handler.

Well, that's for sure, as the protocol handler doesn't deal with
content, other than track IDs.

Would all those artists show up in eg. the Spotify desktop application?

2016-02-16 Thread epoch1970

Booohoohooh... I've removed my dev install and now I get redirection
limit exceeded when I try any of the 2 repo urls :(
(so LMS always wants to restart to finish install and fails and asks
again for a restart...)

I messed about with things like "curl
http://iweb.dl.sourceforge.net/projects/lms-to-raop/dev/repo-sf.xml;
until I landed on the final redirection, in my case
"http://freefr.dl.sourceforge.net/project/lms-to-raop/dev/repo-sf.xml;
--as of right now. Don't try this URL.
But the problem is that your repo file contains a link to iweb for the
zip file...

Sourceforge is in a serious state of flux, shall we say...
Perhaps it's time to revert to manual install instructions?

I'll try again later, perhaps the weather will clear up a little bit.
But I thought I'd post in case others encounter an issue with
installing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Protocol Handler - play Spotify on all your Squeezeboxen

2016-02-16 Thread Christian Schoepplein
Switched from Triodes plugin tothe new spotify handler this morning
without any problem:

- Deinstalled Triodes plugin
- Restarted LMS
- Updated LMS to the latest nightly build of 7.9
- Activated the new Spotify handler plugin
- Restarted LMS
- Ready, music is playing :-)

I've configured and activated the official Spotify plugin via mysb.com
somewhen before...

Thanks for your great work, Michael!

Ciao,

Checking in your desktop or mobile Spotify app, do you have any albums
or artists added to your library?

Will do as soon as I get back home, but when I clicked on spotify in the
player, there were no new log entries in the spotify log on the server.

So, I guess I'm just wondering - is this the trade-off that we have to
live with now? Continue using the Triode plugin and not be able to
search in Spotify (unless some miraculous fix is forthcoming via Spotify
API or Mr Triode) or use Michael's Spotify protocol Handler with the
official Spotify plugin and lose all those nice features?

You can still use them both in parallel as outlined elsewhere. And some
of the deficiencies you mentioned will be ironed out soon.

Hmm, just checking - I can see Spotify in the "my apps" menu on jivelite
on my client machine, but I can't see it on the LMS web interface - is
this the expected behavior?

Unfortunately the spotify app on the player doesn't work either - it

I'm not using any tunnel. I'm pretty sure it would work when using a

As a general rule, cache entries will expire in about 15 mins if you
leave the system alone making sure nothing references the BBC menus
(i.e. make sure players playlist are empty) . Each time you try a bad
cache entry you reset the lifetime.

> I have tried simply restarting LMS but that does not work.
You probably didn't wait long enough between stopping LMS and starting
LMS with newer faster system you need to wait a couple of minutes when
taking this approach to clearing cache.

If you want to delete the cache file - make sure LMS is stopped and
delete the cache.db file in the LMS Cache directory.

2016-02-16 Thread Michael Herger

Http would be great because it works on nearly every device, if that's
not possible maybe cli and telnet could work?

HTTP isn't the limitation here. It's the parsing of Spotify's playlist
URI. Triode's plugin used to expand them automatically into a list of
tracks - using the same lookup method which no longer is available. I'd
have to re-implement this using the new API.
