Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Protocol Handler - play Spotify on all your Squeezeboxen

2016-04-21 Thread Michael Herger

You mention an issue with Search in Squeezer. Is this limited to
Squeezer?

I've just tested it with "Squeeze Controller" and there the search
function does work. So, yes, it appears to be a Squeezer issue.
Which is a pity, because it is my favorite squeezebox controller app.

Thanks for the confirmation!

I wouldn't fully agree with the response to that issue though.

Thanks for the reply Bonze.

You say 'It would probably help if you said what tags/info you wanted to
display', but I'm not at all sure why.

Damn, I'm being called...
back tomorrow.

Basically, I don't want a clock although a very small one in a corner
would be OK; I really want the whole of the 'Classical' information
displayed (Composer, Album (work), Track Title (Movement), Conductor,
Soloists if appropriate, Orchestra, Year). This also needs to be
displayed ONLY for items from my Classical sub-library (via Erland's
Multi-Library plugin). Looking at the Custom Clock info I'm still
unsure if this is possible.

I am also unsure if the 'Now Playing' display is actually what is shown
when you navigate to a folder and play all the tracks therein, as I
never actually go to a 'Now Playing' screen; but that could just be me
being a bit dim.

I guess that I am reluctant to use something that is described as a
clock to alter what information about a track is being displayed.

Yeah.. I know, but the message is incorrect. I am running version 7.8.0,
but it still mentions that there is an update available.
It's running on a QNAP nas, and originally LMS had an older version. I
then installed version 7.8.0 through a QPKG package (a kind of beta
package system from QNAP).
Which worked fine, but it's now displaying the "upgrade" message. I
still have to figure out how to install version 7.9 on my NAS.

Thanks :) although squeezelite will give you sync with other SB devices
and UPnP/DLAN can't unfortunately ...

Hi Philippe,

Just wanted to note that your plugin automagically added my Rasplex Rpi
player as a Squeezelite device and even exploits Rasplex's DLNA now
playing screen.

It was all so automagical that I hadn't actually realised this happened
and I was sure that I had squeezelite installed on the Rasplex. I've
spent a few hours trying to understand why I can't locate it on the
disk.

I'm actually not sure whether I will actually now even bother installing
Squeezelite. :-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotify Protocol Handler - play Spotify on all your Squeezeboxen

2016-04-21 Thread meowsqueak

I had issues with Triode's Spotify plugin and two synchronised
Squeezebox Boom units, so I thought I'd try the Spotify Protocol Handler
plugin instead. I installed it and the Logitech Spotify app fine, and a
single unit will play happily. However when I synchronise the two units,
the sound cuts out after a few seconds, each unit struggles to play,
then there's long periods of silence. Sometimes the track skips to the
next track in the playlist. Looking at the
/var/log/squeezeboxserver/spotifyd.log file, I see similar errors to
what I reported here:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?79706-Announce-Spotify-Premium-Plugin-(Beta)&p=851360#post851360

>From what I've read here, synchronisation should work with this plugin -
is that correct?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2016-04-21 Thread meowsqueak

I have an issue when I'm running two Squeezebox Boom's with Triode's
Spotify plugin in synchronised mode. This seemed to work for a while (a
few weeks), but now I notice that the music often cuts out after a few
seconds, and sometimes skips to the next track. It's almost unplayable,
however at times it will play happily for 5-10 minutes without issue. I
thought it might be related to the wireless network, but I've ensured
that signal strength is OK, and each player will play fine on its own.
Then I noticed that the cut-out effect is just like what happens when
I'm playing Spotify on my phone and someone else in the family starts it
up elsewhere - Spotify cuts one of the devices off, which then auto-logs
in again, causing the other to cut out. I wonder if this is what is
happening here?

Can anyone confirm whether this is the case? Is it possible to
synchronise two players to one Spotify stream with one premium account,
or is a Family account required?

I've looked in /var/log/squeezeboxserver/spotifyd.log during these
outages and I notice that each player results in a "newstream connection
from X.X.X.X" when starting to play a track. Then, when things start to
go wrong "relogin requested" and "resetting streambuf" will appear, and
sometimes "logged out" followed by "relogging in as user:". This doesn't
always happen, but it does seem related. I also see "ChannelError(0, 1,
link-tracks)" occasionally.

If I turn off synchronisation, a single player will play 100% fine, with
the other off. The log remains silent until the next track.
