I could just add that this morning the Spotify protocol handler once
again says that I'm logged out. But. Local player plugin still works!..
I've given up on trying to understand what's going on...

If it only works wih itunes, there is only 2 things I can "offer"

- I buy one of these 2 tests ... not easily available where I leave
- You take a wireshark log of the exchange when itunes is being used

The "not in path" is not an issue, there are 4 types of mDNS (publish of

there.

The airplay feature is strange - it works with iTunes, but nothing else
... I'm baffled.

You can get it working with upnpbridge - I can give you the settings
which work for the E3, which I guess will work. Setting up upnpbridge

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Software player, for Windows, supporting Spotify?

2016-09-30 Thread ButC

Forget what I said, I just got it working... I don’t know what the hell
is going on. I've had three updates coming in this evening. After the
second, and not getting it to work, I gave up and installed my second
Touch (my Touch then found a new software and installed it). After that
I played a few songs through the Touch and then wrote the previous post.
Having written it, I just remembered that I hadn't checked if I was
logged in in the Spotify protocol handler. I was not - and after logging
in, it works! No skipping, and pure sound coming out of my new speakers.
Life is good :)

Thanks everyone for helping me closing in on this! Big thanks :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Software player, for Windows, supporting Spotify?

2016-09-30 Thread ButC

I tried it. I also tried the Local Player plugin. I'm having the same
problem I'm having with Squeeze Player on my HTC (and every other phone
I've tried) - songs through Spotify just skips, and no sound... I
noticed a weird thing this time: While the song was playing as it should
(no skipping; still no sound, though) in Orange Squeeze, it was skipping
away in the web GUI...

If others can use Spotify with both Squeeze Play and Squeeze Player, I
believe there must be something wrong with my Spotify account.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Dynamic Mix Plugin does not work under 7.9

2016-09-30 Thread squeezebox_Fan

Hello Forum,

since I switched from version 7.8 to 7.9 the Dynamic Mix Plugin does not
work anymore. Anything else is working fine. The problem is, that I can
not interact with that Plugin anymore. Not via HTML nor with Squeeze
Comander.

Will there ever be a fixed version 1.4 of Dynamic Mix Plugin or do I
have do downgrade my LMS to version 7.8.1? (Hoppfuly not).
The Dynamic Playlist Plugin is installed an working.

Or ist there any workaround to get it useable again?

Thank you for any help.

1. I've noted here in Ireland (BBC stream 96k ISP 10Mbs ADSL) - on a
weekday I can play a BBC live stream from 9:30am until 4:00pm without an
error and then the problems start with long delays - I don't know
whether it is my local ISP (e.g. contention) or BBC CDNs but clearly
network traffic matters. BTW there used to be similar pattern in packet
delays when BBC used RealAudio but for other reason it wasn't
noticeable.
2. Each TCP connection requires a DNS lookup - when similar problem were
found with HLS in Mar 2015 - Windows DNS caching was identified as a
contributor.

I'm working on trying to get a persistent TCP version of the plugin but
it takes time.

I'm in the UK. I tried both wired and wireless and it made no
difference. Testing was done with Radio 4 at 10pm and 8am, both very
busy times and Radio1 this morning at about 9.

The assumption must be that Win10 handles these multiple short
connections far worse than Win7. As I said, with Win7 there was
absolutely no rebuffering to the Boom and yet 10 seconds later once I
switched source to the Win10 server the buffering problem restarted.
Switching immediately back to Win7 server the buffering stops again.
Server load never goes above 3% and I'm on 200meg cable. I still have
both servers sitting idle if there is any specifics you would like
tested.

Thanks again for all your time and effort.

Reg.

HLS would be fine for me if it had 320kbps AAC streams, but it doesn't.
So they're saying HD radio is only supported on a transport mechanism
which is beta. This is odd given the big push they made about HD radio a
small number of years ago (and it does sound very good). Have they
quietly given up on HD radio as a marketing concetp?

Not quite a million! But a reasonable obsession's worth!

I'm playing iTunes on the PC - this sees the GGMM and plays okay. But
airplaybridge, Tuneblade, etc. while they see the device, either won't
connect (Tuneblade) or produce no sound (bridge).

Any ideas?

I'll investigate the syncing via iTunes, if that's what you mean.

George, would you be able to install another instance of LMS and just
run Dash by way of a test? This would save a bit of a faff,
maybe:rolleyes:

2016-09-30 Thread bpa

A Post on BBC internet BLog basically says DASH/HTML5 will be beta for a
good while yet and HLS won't go away for a few years as HTML5 features
and support is not good enough. BBC perspective has a strong video
bias.

At the moment, I personally believe rebuffering is associated with HLS
and DASH implementation not using persistent TCP which means a TCP
connection is needed for each 6sec of audio. While this is OK for a web
page as there is usually a pause while user reads a page - for audio
this means many many TCP short connections being made for a period of
time - I think this stresses some systems and the system includes: BBC,
CDNs, ISP and LMS server.

Until I have a test version of BBCiPlayer with persistent TCP - I cannot
prove this theory.

Thats said, where are you located ? what sort of network connections ?
when did you do your testing ? If UK based, have you tested at about
11.00am on weekdays ?

Thanks, I've investigated more and confirmed that the
RPi/picoreplayer/7" screen/jivelite combo still shows no BBC icons.
Similarly, Jivelite on my PC shows no BBC icons. However using the LMS
interface, they are all there. Also, they show up in Squeeze Commander.

My BBC stream preferences are set to HLS>MP3>FlashAAC>FlashMP3. I'm
running the iPlayer plugin v 1.3.1alpha3 and have the PlayHLS v1.1
plugin enabled.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer with DASH support - test version

2016-09-30 Thread RegWard

OK, I did some more investigation;

As I said earlier I have a combination of Radios and a Boom. The iPlayer
constant rebuffering issue only ever occurs on the Boom.

Testing regime, I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine as a master
server. I did clean, fully updated, installs of Windows10 and Windows7
in separate Virtual Machines. Installed nothing except LMS7.9 and bpa's
Dash iPlayer plugin on each.

The Win7 machine would happily serve anything to any player and in any
sync combinations. I tried FLAC, AAC streams and iPlayer in both DASH
and HLS priority settings. All worked perfectly.

The Win10 machine would also serve everything EXCEPT IPLAYER TO THE
BOOM. The Boom worked perfectly for anything other than iPlayer,
including high bitrate AAC streams. Either iPlayer DASH or HLS to the
Boom caused frequent multi-second rebuffering events making it
unusable.

Flicking between the two servers this effect was 100% reproducible.

For me the answer to the rebuffering issue will be to leave the Win7 VM
on my network to just run LMS however that isn't an ideal solution for
everyone!

Hopefully this will help bpa isolate the issue although it seems another
case of Win10 breaking more than it fixes.

Reg.

Have you tried to sync it with other players using iTunes - the fact
that it's shairtunes is a bit scary wrt that capability as most of the
integrations are very poorly made by guys that have no idea of what they
are doing - at least this is what I've seen so far
